Verizon raising the price for Unlimited Data Plan by $20 after November 15, 2015

On my note 5, I haven't found any difference in battery life using a strong 4GLTE signal vs wifi.

sorry... I should have explained. I don't use any voice/text on my Verizon Note 5. I use Google Voice and Skype for 100% of my voice/text. When I'm outside, I have no choice but to leave everything one, since there's no way to disable the voice/text part.

When I'm inside with wifi(at home or the office or anywhere with reliable wifi), I always switch to airplane mode and keep wifi on. That saves a TON of battery life. :) Since I get my voice/text from Google Voice and Skype 100% the time, they work just fine. I sometimes only charge my battery every other day. basically, I only rely on Verizon 4G 3 to 4 hours a day.(the amount of time that I'm not in the office or at home)

I still have 1 year a few days of contract left, so I'm SOL? :( (as in getting ready to pay $20 extra per month after my current contract expires next year?)

Oh well.. no biggie. I'll just quit using wifi completely and use my unlimited data 100% of the time. Wait a minute, I sure hope I'm not the only one doing this out of spite for the $20 increase. Won't that cause an increase in network usage for Verizon? :D :D :D

I've always used wifi whenever possible.. even if it's much slower than the 4G LTE. I mainly want to conserve battery, but also I figured it wasn't nice to strain Verizon's bandwidth all the time even if I have unlimited. Now the gloves come off. 4G 100% of the time, baby! :)

Exactly. You better believe I plan to get my money's worth if I am going to be charged $20 extra. I will only turn on WiFi for Chromecast and use 4g lte the rest of the time. I bet my usage will double and Verizon will bear the costs since they promised to not throttle us.

Wait until December 1st and then try calling about the 100 minutes or texts promotion. You might be able to get them to extend your contract another year from that point. I'm not sure if it will work, but it's worth a shot.

do the 100 minutes apply to the line with UDP? or to the whole account? if to the whole account, won't that extend the contracts for all the lines on the same account? :(

And then they will just raise the price again because they are not going to incur the increased costs.

Well texts aren't shared on the nationwide plans, so if the texts are only applied to the UDP line then theoretically only the UDP line should go under contract. But honestly I am not sure.

Well it will be, right now she's on a dumphone line, but I plan on buying her on swappa a older Iphone since its a upgrade no matter what.

Getting the 100 minutes or texts won't affect upgrade eligibility negatively.

same here call 611 yesterday talk to a really nice person ask for the 100 mins he try to do all he could and said nothing was available for the plan i have i have a family plan 1400 and he did not push me to go to one of the new plans , one of my problems is i feel we should be able to upgrade our cells if we are paying 50 for data not a payment plan changing us full price

I just called in less than 10 mins ago and asked the VZ CSR if there were any promotions available on my account . It took the rep a few tires before he found the "Loyalty 100 Mins x 12MOS 1YR" is how it shows on my account.. I was hoping that it would extended my wife's contract from 1 year to 2, but it didn't.. For those that are out of contract and need a 1 year contract extension, keep trying YMWV with different VZ CSRs...

They always want to punish the loyal customers. If u have unlimited Data you have been a customer for a long time why bother us!!

Why bother us? Because they was us off unlimited data. They don't really care about loyalty and now that unlimited data makes up less than 1% of their base, they don't mind losing it as it doesn't affect them much overall

Imagine those with the 20 dollars data discount go from paying 9.99 a month to 49.99 a month??

Sent from my HTC6600LVW using Tapatalk

They do that and I am gone. I just got an AT&T unlimited line from eBay. I have had that $20 discount for about five years now on my Verizon line.

Got the attached notice today when I logged in to my account, was the first time I saw something official. Never anything in the bill.

Fyi I tried doing an early upgrade on my udp line (it is under contract until 2016)and it let me choose the Verizon max 6gb plan for $30 or 8gb with hotspot for $40

That's interesting. That notice says if you are on a 2-year contract you won't have the $20 increase. I wonder if the 1-year extensions that people have been getting by accepting the 100 free minutes or text promotion is going to help them?

Doesn't sound like it. I'll see in December. The change was too late to effect November but if the extra 20 is still there in December then I have to pay it. Cost me nothing to get an extra 100 min a month anyway...not that I will ever use it.

If you're rate is going up, the notice is at the very end of your bill (printed or pdf online) for bills arriving Oct 15 or after. If your last bill cycle closed on or before Oct 14, the notice will be on your next bill.

I will check the bill, thank you.
