Verizon raising the price for Unlimited Data Plan by $20 after November 15, 2015

Oh they do. They offer an exclusive "Max" plan to subscribers... but to anyone who uses a good amount of data an unlimited plan will always be less expensive than a non-unlimited one.

Their goal is to get people who currently use moderate data off of unlimited data. Because they know that statistically speaking data use will increase.

Even if now a 6 or 8gb might be enough in a few years, it might go up.

People who are near the tier should be careful.

Now my mom who used 0.1gb...a 2gb plan would be fine for a long time.

Sounds like my parents. Each use 0.3 GB on average a month haha :D.
Mybwife is about .8 gb in a high use month. Funny, she syncs 2 email accounts and cruises net and plays games so ads on bottom use data but I use 10 times the data she does.

I blame tapatalk.

I tried asking for the 100min/100txt promo. The agent spent a, long time searching but couldn't find the promo for my account. I'll try again later.

3rd try did it for me and that rep had no problem at all! She couldn't understand why first 2 didn't see it. Just odd.

Hi does anyone know if I have a family plan and my unlimited is the main account holder being me can I get the 100 mins promo

Today, I tried calling Verizon Wireless to convert my personal account which I've had since January 5, 1996 under GTE MobilNet to a Business Personal/Small Business Account so it would use my Tax ID Number instead of my Social Security Number, I was transferred to the Assumption of Liability department who told me that since I have the UDP, she would hate for me to lose it so she said she can process the application for a small business account and the risk is high of losing it as there is a 60% success rate of sending it a request to add it back and a 40% failure rate depending on the IT Department. She basically got the small business account approved, credit check with no deposit needed for up to 20 lines but the computer kept doing Invalid Plan selected so she tried to change me to a $20 Unlimited Voice + $20 Unlimited Text plan and even tried just $20 Unlimited Voice but it keeps taking out the UDP. She even had a supervisor assist to see if there are any loopholes to keep the UDP but none of it worked.

After the call, I looked at this thread about adding the 100 Minutes & 100 Text Promo and this was what happened.

Kat: Good evening! My name is Kat, I am your account specialist. How may I help you?
Me: Hello Kat, how are you doing.
Me: I heard about a 100 free minutes and text loyalty promo
Kat: Oh! Thank you for your interest with our promos. I know how important it is to be able to apply all the applicable promos and offers there are. I would be glad to check available options for you in which we can apply the 100 free minutes and texts to your account. Let me go ahead and pull up your account.
Kat: Can I have your name and phone number on the account please?
Me: <Name and Phone Number provided>
Kat: Thank you for the information.
Kat: I will pull up the account now.
Kat: I see the available promo. Would you like me to apply the changes on the account now?
Me: yes, am I correct it would put me in contract for 1 year?
Kat: Yes, that is correct. I see that you have the Unlimited data on the line. Starting November 15, 2015, there will be an additional $20.00 for maintaining the unlimited data. It will take effect once your contract term has ended. If we add the promotions now on your line, it will add 1 year to your contract.
Me: Yes, that sounds good. Is there any promotions on voice & text plans without losing the Unlimited data?
Kat: Great idea! I will place the effectivity on the next bill cycle which is on November 05, 2015. This way, you will start having the 100 minutes and 100 texts on the same day as well have the unlimited data for a year without getting charged with $20.00 for the additional monthly cost.
Me: That sounds good.
Kat: Awesome!I hope I was able to take ownership and provide you good customer service today. Is there anything else that I missed? Would you like to know more about your account?
Kat: I have successfully added the promotions on your line! Congratulations!
Me: Well, are there voice plans with a better pricing than I am getting now?
Me: I talked earlier with someone and they said there was a $20.00 voice plan with unlimited minutes except I didn't know what the line access charge is.
Kat: Changing the plan will remove the unlimited data from your account. Would you like to consider changing the plan without unlimited data?
Me: Perhaps not, I want to keep the UDP :)
Kat: That's a great choice!
Kat: I definitely recommend that as well!
Me: In any case, thanks again for your help!
Kat: All for you! Thank you for being a loyal customer of Verizon since 1996! You are very much appreciated and valued by Verizon. We are doing our best to provide you the best option there is. We treat our customers as our family.
Kat: You may log on to our website Cell Phones, Smartphones & the Largest 4G LTE Network - Verizon Wireless and follow our Twitter account @vzwsupport.
Kat: This is Kat, your account specialist. Have a great day ahead!

So seems like one can't change the voice plan without losing the UDP.

I like Kat!

Yes you can but it adds a year on the udp contract. It may take a few calls though. Not every rep has heard of it. Success on my 3rd call

Make sure to look at your current plan online to see they added both as in my case, Kat said she added both but all I saw online was the 100 free texts, I had to chat again with another representative who added the 100 free minutes, the end dates are slightly different too as the free minutes is 360 days. Seems like I actually had been off contract since September 2011.

Well, my contract expiration date now shows as 10/21/2016. I'll know on my next bill if the up charge goes through.

Now, this promotion doesn't do anything for your upgrade eligibilty right? Because at some point, when the Note 4 goes south of 300 freaking bucks at Best Buy, I'm going to do the trick where you just order online, and before turning it on, just swap out my current SIM. Its kinda hysterical when you can get a good condition Note 4+extras on Swappa for not much more than the subsidized price at a store.

Interesting. Honestly I am not sure. But that line is under service contract until next year

Thanks. If I had known that it was still possible to get a subsidized phone, I would have gone with the Loyalty Max 6 GB plan (there's been only one month that I've used as much as 6 GB since I got the UDP in 2011), rather than take the 100 fee minutes & texts offer, with its 1-year contract. Who knows if the Loyalty Max plans will still be offered a year from now when my contract expires and the UDP is $50?

I checked the last 18 months and I have come close to 8 gb only in the summer. No idea why my data is about 2 gb higher in summer but it is. I deduce I need at least 8 gb but would like at least 12 to cover for increases in data use over time.
