VRBMF1 out now...... Just updated my phone.

This is what I did

FWUgrade.bak
FWUgrade.odex.bak
SDM.bak
SDM.odex.bak

*It says could not rename when I try. Stock rooted.*

You have to make sure whatever file manager you are using is WRITE enabled, even though I was already rooted once I was in the system/app folder I still had to mount the app folder in File Expert so it could rename files, I got the same message u did until I learned this. I decided to learn to root when Verizon released the MB3 disaster so I could do my best to take control of my phone :)

Does anyone have the smart stay 'eye' constantly on after the update?

Well, this update isn't going well for me. I clicked okay, waited eight minutes for it to load and then ... nothing. The "update available" screen pops up again as if I hadn't gone through the process already. Tried three times with the same result. The Verizon help page, listed on the update screen, appears to be dead. Anyone else seeing this?

I am also not totally convinced that my phone is fixed. I think that battery still drains fast and connection is not great. Only real improvement is that my text messages all go thru now. I will test it thoroughly this weekend. Ironic thing.........I received a replacement phone Wednesday night but didn't do anything with it yet

I am with you on this one. Data speeds and signal strength seem to be fixed, but my battery is still draining quicker than it did before.

This update does fix the data problem, but my S3 has seen stronger 4G before.. I want my bars back also.

I updated a few hours ago and I'm happy to say my phone is back to being AWESOME. I hate Verizon but they came through with a timely update to a big screw up. Ahhhhh loving my 4G speed

So did some speed testing before and after update. My speeds are about double now.
Also I was getting 1 to 2 bars in my house now getting 2 to 3 bars.
Remains to be seen how it affects my battery life.

Could the speed increase and better signal be the cause of bad battery life. More power to the radios?

It's been 24 hours since I updated my phone. My phone has been much more stable this morning than yesterday. Battery and reception bars seem better. All of my texts have gone thru over the last day without any fails. Also, I used my GPS navigation yesterday and it didn't drop at all. So far, so good!

Son of a! Again, I click okay to download the update. It goes through, finishes up and then nothing happens. A few seconds later, the screen reappears to advise me that an update is available. I've gone through the process four times now and it's the same thing. Weirdly, my version is showing 4.1.2 now (I was at 4.0 before) but the baseband is still VRBMB1. Anybody have an idea what might be going wrong?

A poor signal will cause your battery to work harder (trying to get a signal). A good signal is better for battery life.

Sounds like you got to the second to last update. You are running the same the update I am. I am waiting on the newest update because I had to get a CLNR phone to run MB1 and it is running great. You may need to restart the phone and/or do a battery pull. Then try to update the phone again.

I hadn't thought of a battery pull. Thanks, Mr.T. I'll give that a shot and report back.

Just downloaded it and I have not noticed a difference, aside from 4G/LTE getting better coverage. I know the old update made my reception worse.

All I want is a decent stock keyboard, why is it so hard Samsung!?

after getting a refurb phone just the other day from the update completely screwing up a great phone, i downloaded this new update and haven't seen any problems so far with my 4G lagging. although i still have the google play store keeps crashing when im using any apps on my phone, but that was happening before i updated my phone

Just updated and phone seems fine. Normal 4G service. Stupid caller Id app had to be disabled again.
Now I can look forward to seeing how much fun the new features are.

Huge improvement in sending texts. They go through right away again.

Battery seems better than the last update but I'm not sure if it's fully back to normal.

The update improved my battery, and text sending..... But the data connection is pretty bad. I get 4G, but it's at 3G speeds. I live in Chicago with a normally strong LTE signal. My other Verizon phone (DNA) gets double the signal and speed in the same locations.

My stronger signal strength is resulting in better battery life than I had before, so seems to be a very good update.
