"Mark my words, I encourage you to read the S22U thread when it starts. There will be mostly positive comments at first, then the battery comparison will start, then the camera and what it doesn't do well, then screen on time and so on."

This right here

Don't hold your breath.

I keep reading this Pixel Experience and personally don't see what the excitement is all about.

My purchases are based on Design, it reminds me of one of my top ten phones, the nexus 6P.

I've gotten used to the connection resetting that I just switch to my iPhone 13PM.

Samsung Canada dropped the ball on the S22U, I'm talking about no pre-order bonuses, credits, etc. So I will be sticking with this phone until Z Flip4.

Well back in 2016 and 2017 when the Pixel line were new, they did have the best UI's on the market imo. Fastest, cleanest UI's - just really pleasant to use.

Then other OEM's started improving their UI's, namely Samsung who created One UI for the Galaxy S10. Then all of a sudden you had another high-end phone which had a super fast, slick and clean UI just with many more features. Google didn't really do much to improve their UI over the years, culminating with the Pixel 6 with Android 12, which imo is a regression from previous Android versions. Whereas One UI has grown to be quite capable and flexible.

And the Pixel camera was the best in the industry for a while, but that lead has now gone and Apple/Samsung make cameras which are just as good if not better.

So I think the Pixel experience isn't as great now as it was 4 or 5 years ago. The market moved ahead, Google just seems stagnant.

I would push back on this a bit. I popped my SIM back in my S21 Ultra today. I agree, in most circumstances the S21 Ultra holds it's own against my Pixel 6, but when it comes to my constantly moving 2-year-old, the Pixel takes the cake. Everyday. Samsung still has some work to do. Their shutter speed has been a problem for too long. Kids/pets/any moving object are an issue with their camera and they don't seem to regard it as such.

I do agree with you about the camera shutter speeds. Seems a little slow when I had the S21 Ultra and yeah moving object would blur a little. Hopefully they've managed to fix that with the S22U but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Otherwise I don't really like how Google have programmed their image processing on the Pixel 6. There's speculation that Google just used the same processing algorithms used on the previous sensor/lenses, but I don't know if there's any truth to that.

But I'll put up with a slightly slow shutter speed compared to the issues I've had with the Pixel.

Sorry, but I totally disagree with you on that point.

Perfectly fine. We all have our own opinions. I just believe that Android 12 has regressed the Pixel experience and that other OEM's now have really great UI's.

Carriers used to give phones away for free, which is how I got my LG G4. I think phones are a Lost Leader for them. They don't need to make a profit on them because they do in signing you up and charging your monthly Service Fee and many other, Nickle and Dime, other charges. Financing a phone costs no more than paying for it up front. It's a nice option.
I dont know about the G4 but the last time my wife got a subsidized phone phone on Verizon at a reduced price they raised the line access fees on her line until the phone was paid off which was 2 years. I don't think they do that anymore but the bottom line is that it's not always free.

Unless your carrier is charging a Financing fee, how do you "save" money by paying it off early? Verizon charges me the same. It's just the total cost of the phone up front, or the total cost of the phone divided by the months of the payment plan. For example, the Pixel 6 Pro 256 monthly payment is $27.77 for 36 months. Or, pay the full retail price of $999.99 up front, which is actually .27 cents more to pay in one lump sum than financing it through Verizon. It's no more expensive to finance, but if you just don't like to see an extra $27.77 on your monthly bill, that's a different story.
You save up money to pay it off early is what I think the point was.

IIRC, the S22 Ultra camera has a kids and pets camera setting.
