What do you not like about the Bionic?

So far for me the only downside is the screen. It is noticeable that there is some pixelation but it is nowhere near as bad as some folks are saying (not to me anyways).

This is one potentially big downside that I just noticed right now. The location of the USB port on the left is slightly higher than it was on the DX and DX2. As a result, if you are holding it in portrait mode while the phone is charging, it becomes difficult to type since the cord will keep getting in the way of your hand.

I guess you could hold it landscape mode while charging, or just hold the phone slightly differently in your hands, but that seems like an obvious problem that could have been avoided by Moto.

The only issue that I have with the Bionic is the screen. I actually like the screen on my Droid X (1st gen) then I do on the Bionic. Maybe its because my vision is really good, but the pixels are really noticeable on the Bionic. Almost to the point of bothersome!

My only complaint so far is the lightweight plastic feel. I liked the heft and feel of my DROID. I know that plastic helps heat escape but these new plastic builds just don't feel as solid, I will be scared to drop this phone.

Mostly just little stuff. Power switch on the other side from my OG Droid; The switched around "Back" "Menu" and "Home" buttons are driving me crazy ; the micro usb goes in upside down from my OG Droid, I almost tried to force it in before I checked; The Motorola UI is Fine but I am just used to plai Android, but I want to play with it "as is" for a bit before I change launchers or anything major.

I do see what people say about the screen. I personally feel that the screen is gorgeous and will be great to have better visibility in the sunlight. There's almost a slight "shimmer" in large solid color areas in the video clips I watched - I really don't think it is a big deal though. The color accuracy, power savings, and sunlight visibility are more important to me on a phone/productivity device - when I want to watch a movie I'll do it on my 50" Plasma. When I am ready for a new phone in a couple of years there will be more efficient SoC's and efficient 1920x1080 mobile phone screens. If it really does bother someone, they should just get another phone.

Just had a brief hands-on with a display model and have a few thoughts:

-Camera still seems sluggish but better than my DX2
-Pentile screen isn't perfect but did look a tad better than my DX2, at least for web pages
-No issues with size or weight of the DB. It feels really good in-hand (much better than the D3)
-Love the 3D Blur but I would turn it off after the novelty wears off b/c it can get a bit laggy
-I would probbly go with the extended battery on the DB if I bought it

Things I don't like about it before my hands-on:

-Contract price should be about $50 cheaper considering all of the competition already out and arriving soon

-It would be REALLY nice if full retail would be $100 less

-Moto & VZW should have left the 16GB microSDHC card out of the box and bumped the internal storage up to 32GB. Or at least gone with 16GB internal and a 32GB card (like the Charge & TB). A bundled 16GB card was revolutionary with the OG Droid in 2009 but now it's just mediocre. I also prefer the faster, easier to manage "internal SD slot" for all of my apps with the option of adding a card for all of my media

-I would probably bite on a DB if it had a 4.5" screen, especially if it was non-pentile and still had good battery life. Otherwise, it's a great phone and definitely what I would buy if I had to get a new handset today but I'll probably stick with my DX2 until next year and give the LTE chipsets more time to mature alongside ICS.

Having the phone in my possession now, the power button on the left is definitely going to take some getting used to.

I was afraid it would be a big change. Im looking forward to seeing how the new placement works out. Hopefully i wont have to juggle the phone much to hit the power switch when im holding it certain ways, Time will tell.

No docking station anywhere will fit a case. Its just not practical from a design/sales standpoint.

Both of the docks available fit the extended battery, which is actually sort of unique.

I can say for the desk docs, but my car doc fits the hardshell holster back

Hey, quick question... but is it just me or is there an unusually larger gap or space around the volume rocker and power button. I mean especially the volume rocker looks suspicious and i'm just worried about dust below the screen because you can kinda sorta see silver bits around and behind the button.

Yea I definitely see what you are seeing. However, I got an otterbox case so i am not really worried about dust getting into there.

-*Possible pentile hate (yeah I'm one of THOSE GUYS). The videos/pics have me convinced this generation of pentile screen fixes most of what I hated about previous pentiles (droidx2) however, so I am quite optimistic about this phone now. I will of course still have to see it in person before I buy. however ;)

After going into the store and seeing it in person, I can confirm that the screen looks far better then the pentile on DX2, and am now fully convinced to purchase this phone. I literally went in to store expecting to hate this screen as bad as previous pentiles, and it simply wasn't the case this time. Bionic here I come.

I agree with most of this. Unfortunately I only held the phone for about 5 minutes when I took it out of the box and put it on my credenza to charge while I'm away at work, but I feel the things you mentioned will take some getting used to.

Also, the phone feels so friggin light compared to the D1. I'll probably get used to that one as well, but I'm almost afraid I'm going to drop it. Reminds me that the D1 was built like a tank, and we probably won't get another flag-ship device with that kind of build anytime soon.

But man, I only got to press the power button a couple of times before I left, and it amazed me how fast the screen responded to a press of the power button. My D1 is so laggy at this point trying to run GB ROMs, which is exactly why I couldn't wait to upgrade anymore. So very glad I did. This is going to be one helluva'n upgrade.

I absolutely love the phone except for two things:

1) The display. All of the pixelation drives me nuts and it only gets worse when you're scrolling up and down or sliding from screen to screen. And no, I'm not referring to only the battery icon.

2) The fact that you can't quickly toggle between sound, vibrate, and silence. It's such a basic function. I haven't found a way to do it. Looks like I'll need a toggle app to do what I want...hopefully. And yes, I'm aware of the vibration settings (Always, Never, Only in Silent mode, Only when not in Silent mode)...tried them all. Nothing works for me. I want my phone to be in Vibrate ONLY mode while at work, Sound ONLY when I'm awake and at home, and Silence ONLY when I go to sleep. Someone enlighten me if I'm missing something.

Check out Widgetsoid. I heard good things about it. You can add a bunch of customized toggles for wifi, bluetooth, etc and even add it to the notification bar! I have it on my Bionic now but you have to change the colors because the default ones you can't see.

On the homescreens it isn't pixelation. Moto built in a TON of animation and lighting effects that create some unintended visual side effects. I have noticed some of the 'shimmering' effect mentioned previously though.

I actually think that the D2x screen is a bit more sharp, but that's me. I noticed some weird shimmering effects with the new animations and lighting effects. Certainly nothing that will stop me from getting it, however.

Quick Profiles worked really well for me back when I had an Android phone. You could create many different profiles and change the settings on so many things.

I wish the power button was a little bigger or on the side.

When moving icons, its a little too sensitive. I keep moving icons to the next screen, when i just wanted it moved to the top.

I would like some of the more stock icons, like the folder icon. Does not look like a folder.

Didn't read all the prior posts, so please don't flame me for repeating anything. Live and let live.

So far the Bionic's doing pretty much everything right. They seem to have fixed the headphone jack, which was a HUGE deal for me with my OG, 'cause I use my phone to listen to music constantly. The incessant crackling and start/stop/switch of music apps was maddening on the OG! And the DB's actually louder than the OG when playing music, so they seem to have improved the "amp" in the DB. You'll still want PowerAmp though. The stock music players are horrible.

It's fast as hell. No lag on anything -- even with live wallpapers and widgets and everything. Amazing.

Good call quality.

No crashes or reboots or anything so far. Even the wireless connection seems faster. I don't have 4G in my city yet, but I'd swear that browsing the 'Net on 3G is significantly faster on this phone.

This is my first experience with (the artist previously known as) Blur, and so far, I don't see what the big deal is. I just deleted the widgets and apps I didn't want off the screen. Some of them are even pretty good, actually, like the news widget and the data usage widget. (Those may not be Blur, but I've never had them before.)

I'm not a huge fan of the power button on the left side of the phone. Even with large hands, it's not terribly convenient. Minor qualm. I'll get used to it.

And the screen... well... the screen. At first, I was, like, I don't know if I can live with this. But it's growing on me. On my OG, the screen used 50% of the battery. When I checked the DB, it was 11%. That's gotta be a plus, right? Not to mention, BB is replacing my OG Droid under insurance after nearly two years because of a power button problem, and they gave me a Fascinate as a loaner today. When you really look at the Fascinate screen, you can see pixelation on it, too. Not as pronounced, but it's there. Made me feel a bit better. :-) I think part of it is just the bigger screen as compared to the OG.

Don't let anyone lie to you though, you still can't see the screen worth a %!@# in sunlight. I was expecting much better there.

Overall, coming from an OG Droid, this is like going from a Fiat to a Ferrari. EVERY phone has its flaws. This one has fewer than most (I'm looking at you, Samsung). I'm 98% thrilled with the Bionic so far. Very happy I pulled the trigger on it. With GoToMeeting, ZumoCast, HDMI out and super-speed, this phone has quite a bit to offer. I'd recommend opening your mind and at least giving it a look before dismissing it and waiting for the next big thing.

Not a fanboy. Just my two cents. :-)

I just got home from the Verizon Store. I spent some time playing with it to see if the display was enough to keep me from buying it. Unfortunately, it was.

For most normal web browsing, it didn't bother me too much and I was considering getting it. But anytime there was movement (like scrolling), the pixelation was pretty noticeable. But, for web browsing I still don't think that's a big deal.

Unfortunately, where it was a big deal to me was in games and watching videos. Any solid colors in games looked bad to me, especially when some sort of movement happened. I also watched a few videos on Youtube, and the skin on people looked really weird with all the pixelation.

I will say though, that phone is FAST. But, for me the screen quality is too big of an issue.
