Who is sticking with their Evo instead of upgrading to Evo 3d?

Much as I love my EVO, I'm fairly sure I'm not upgrading to a 3D.
Instead, I'm going to cut my $90 phone bill in half and switch to a sensation on Tmo.
3D is a gimmick and saving the cash every month is more important to me.
I'll be doing a liability transfer (to my boss, who wants his first smartphone) to get out of my contract.

what do you get for $45/month on TMob vs. $90/month on Sprint?

How would you cut your bill in half?

The 3D seems gimicky and if it's not better than the 3DS, pretty useless. I let others try it out before I make a commitment to upgrade.

The Evo 3D is tempting, especially since I'm experiencing more and more quirky issues with my Evo I've had since the launch. I will probably end up waiting however because I'm not really sold on the whole 3D aspect. I'm hopeful that HTC will come out with another hot phone soon after which has awesome specs...I'm not rushing into anything at this point.

um...yea...please tell us how you are cutting your bill in half by switching to T-Mo.....i would like to know please!!!

o and no, I am not switching to the Evo 3D....im not a fan of 3D anything and besides....im having WAY too much fun with my OG Evo still. I'll probably stick with it till next year (when I'm eligible to upgrade for a better price)

If I hadn't bought my Acer iconia a500 tablet, I would be in line waiting right now at radio shack. Instead, I'm going to wait and see how the 3D performs. Buying the tablet and having more screen real estate than the evo, plus having the tablet tethered to the phone means I'm more inclined to be patient.

The Evo is a ground breaking piece of tech hardware that still turns heads when people see it. Want proof of its toughness? I've dropped it in the bathtub TWICE while reading (it stayed on, its bright screen underwater while I gasped and struggled to pick it up) . It still runs just like the day I got it.

I'm excited for the 3D but I know my Evo 4G will suit me fine as long as I need it.

I believe a lot of people are hoping that HTC will have made major improvements over the original EVO. And I believe that they will see that it won't be a far superior device to the original. Some of the issues that people had with the first EVO, expect to see on the next. I continue to say, if you will be satisfied marginal improvements, then upgrading after a year will yield little disappointment. But if you want to see a big leap, wait for your two year upgrade.

You know, I was going to stay with the Evo, but there's enough about this phone that looks fun (yes, even the 3D), and Sprint is giving me a pass through Radio shack to do the full upgrade for just a few dollars... my normal upgrade isn't until next April. Worth pulling the trigger, I think.

I made a personal decision not to jump to a phone without a better camera and that takes better video. This appears to cover that quite nicely, and the 3D part actually sounds really fun.

So, I was a nay-sayer until a few days ago. Now it appears I'll jump.

I've had my EVO since launch day and I'm still very happy with it! Running rooted for most of that time, and have had a couple ROMs on there so far. Very honestly, I'm not even interested in the 3D option for a phone. Not sure what the big deal with 3D on a small screen is.

No lie...my heart skipped a beat when I read this post. I couldn't imagine dropping mine in the bath tub. I would probably pass out from the shock...lol.

Sent from my evil hideout. MUWHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

I don't think that I will be interested in the 3D screen either, but I won't know or say for sure until I see it in person.

Evo 3d is a must have.

I just want to start out by saying that all the people that are staying with their 4g evo will lose the battle when it comes to the 3d phone. From a visual standpoint the way the screen looks on 3d is way more captivating followed up with a new android build called gingerbread just to handle all these new sensory details found on this new phone. And for all those people with the new 4g talking trash about the 3d with 4g phone maybe its because you already feel binded to that wonderful 2 year contract on your now outdated evo 4g phone. Oh and the battery comin out with the 3d kicks ass and has already been proven. Got my 3d phone on reserve. Dont hate. cause oh u will. Paul Wall- still owns an hd2.

As what happens with every new device that comes out and the release day gets closer, I want to buy it as soon as possible.....LOL I promised myself that I will only upgrade when it's time for me to do so. I hope I can get through the cold sweats as the day gets closer :p

On The Fence...

Been thinking about rooting my launch day EVO now that the warranty is expired, but have been eyeing the 3D since it was announced.

Will probably root (when stock 2.3.3 rooting becomes available) and then consider the 3D, but if looks and performs as advertised, my EVO may get handed down to someone else in the family sooner rather than later. Oddly enough, I'll really miss the kickstand if I do upgrade.

The only other Sprint Android phone with a kickstand will be the MOTO Photon, right?

As a side note not sure why warranty ever made an inkling of difference? You can easily unroot first off.
Second off HTC committed to unlocked bootloaders. Seems by this decision they know the phones get rooted and support it for the most part. These devs are helping make their phones better in the long run.
Its more of Sprint maybe not liking it, but if you have a stock rom on the phone they likely would never know the diff anyway. I have taken my phone in for repair while S off and power user app installed. It looked stock otherwise so no reason to question.
doubt they even cared though anyway as the fix was completely unrelated. Im sure they just dont want to fix every bricked phone because some schmuck didnt know how to follow directions on rooting.

I thought about bugging Sprint to get the early upgrade but decided to hold off. Especially since it seems Sprint is going to be going with LTE over 4g for the future over Wimax. My Evo works fine, I'll just get a new one next year when they're doing quadcores and possibly LTE.

Ice Cream Sandwich isn't even coming out until the end of the year which I bet will run fine on the Evo too.

I thought I was going to stick with mine, but the $99 deal from RadioShack is too good to pass up, especially when I'm practically begging for more app space (stupid developers don't know how to turn on App2SD, hence why I root. I'd rather not).

That's fair, but I don't think they'll be turning off WiMAX for another two years. That is, if WiMAX and LTE can run side-by-side, which I believe can.

That I doubt. Usually a phone from inception will get 12-18 months of major upgrades, and that's it. The EVO already had Froyo and Gingerbread updates, and I think Ice Cream Sandwich may require more space, if not higher power, than the EVO can handle.
