I honestly thought the mockups months ago were a parody of the other phones having a notch. Turns out it's real and makes notches seem great in comparison. IMO Samsung made an even worse design than the notch. Considering the price and the oddly placed display hole, do you think Samsung should be shocked if sales are lacking?

I respectfully disagree. Although I probably won't be purchasing any of them, I would probably opt for the S10 over the S10+ due to the smaller hole cutout. I don't take many selfies anyways to make use of that secondary front facing camera on the S10+.

Are you talking about the actual display quality or the overall design of the screen?

Visual quality is fine and all, but the features that are being removed are more useful than the new design changes.

Yeah, we HAD choices, but the current trends seem to be cookie cutter designs. There's few phones now with anything special. Those that do exist have one really cool feature, but mid-tier performance specs.If by "cease to exist" you mean giving us a full screen with no cutouts and bezels I can hold it by, I think we'll be holding off a long long time.

That's what I meant. Because the alternative is to either hold on to your old phone until it dies or deal with the cut out. There are no other choices (unless you go elsewhere where you can get a REAL notch)

We knew this was coming. We've known at least 6 months. I don't understand the gripping now.

There's been complaints. Perhaps not as bad, but just because it was still emerging and not popular enough to garner this much attention. The same happened with the notch.

I like 16/9 ratio flat screen with led notification ,removable battery and ir blaster!

People are too quick to judge and I was one of them until I got the Essential.

I can't stand phones without Notches, my only complaint was some are too big, *cough*Pixel XL*cough*.

After seeing the S10+ I love the Punch Hole more. It's different and doesn't change the look of the phone.

I didn't mind the essential or oneplus notches, but the iphone and pixel notches were/are still hideous in comparison.

Why hold something that doesn't look good to begin with? People can be critical of certain aspects without getting their hands on it.

A total non-issue. Infinitely better than Apple's horrific notch. Actually kind of cool looking.

It absolutely is an advancement in design. That's what a stop gap is. It's getting smaller and smaller with each iteration. If you chose to wait for a complete notch less design, that's great for you.

You realize it can be both, right? The 'hole punches' are an advancement from the notch, and both are a stopgap until the technology is there for true full screen devices.

I’m going to see the phone in person today but from the videos I’ve seen I prefer the hole punch, even the double hole punch is better. I have a Xs max at the moment.
