Why do people buy Samsung Galaxy Phones?

From mid January up until last Sunday I had not one but two iPhone 5s', an Air, and an rMini. I now have an S5 and this Note 3. So far I'm not feeling like the iOS devices were any better but I would be dishonest if I said I'll never miss the ease-of-use and reliability of FaceTime. That said, I'd be lying if I said these two stellar devices I have now we're anything less than awesome and that come the Fall Apple would be best served to "bring it" because the android experience leaves little to be desired and with each passing day iOS and the iPhone does more and more.

I am speaking of the original Galaxy S.

Looks like there are still those that really like and dislike Samsung's take on the smartphone. It's good there are so so many choices. You seem like you might be better served by the G3 or M8.

NoTe 3 2 1nFiNiT1

Haters will hate... If the S5 had front speakers like the HTC One M8 I would have gotten it. I don't dislike Samsung, I dislike the S3....

For those who are Samsung haters, give specific reasons why Samsung "sux". Don't give the obvious no brain needed answers of plastic and "touchwiz sux hurr durr". We need some informed real answers around here because so far as I have read the answers I see are so petty and just blind hate. Maybe some links to sources and pie charts/bar graphs/line graphs would be better.

We don't need to justify our desicion to dislike a brand to be fair.

If I was to say I dislike Samsung because I personally think they don't put the same level of thought or time into their products. I have that right to express that or that perhaps I dislike the build quality dumb dumb usual waffle Yeh Yeh but it's one that some are quite entitled to xpress.

Or it maybe that Samsung overloads on gimmicks and just throws any crap into the market, or that touchwiz is ugly and some may feel that it hinders what is a great OS by using this heavy skin.

Or that the design language is below par for the heavy price tag. Maybe some feel that because Samsung have that recognised name and Market dominance that it's head scratching as to why such cheap feeling products are the peoples choice.

Whatever it may be we are not answerable or required to like some law to justify our right to express a dislike for a produce and thus giving pie charts or stats.

This is a discussion not a court room.

And people have that right to say what they want.

If you want to defend a product that is fine also and if I wanted to flip reverse please include a pie chart and stats in your defence of Samsung lol

Its ridiculous Tbh

I happen to like my Note 3 and no doubt the Note 4 will be great.

I happen to like certain things about the S5 it's not all bad.

But I do agree that Samsung because of brand recognition and symbol minded people will sell huge amounts and it doesn't matter what they really put out there.

Whatever your opinion and views or personal opinions your entitled to share.

Is it a giant marketing thing or are the general public that stupid ?? I've used the s2 and s3 and didn't get it back then. The design is awful they all look pretty much the same, they feel cheap and plastic for an apparent high end phone and even the UI looks tacky I'm sorry but when paying this money aesthetics matter, especially when the internals are fairly similar at this level. I just think it's laziness on behalf of the consumer who'll buy one just coz its a Samsung....

(I'm removing the note series from this as I've never used or held one to make any judgement)

For one, without a large number of buyers for Samsung the antis wouldn't have anyone to feel better than when they write these rants. Well and most of the Galaxy devices are *fine*, they're not stupendous and a couple could use a better antenna. The one thing that really gets me is, I have a Tab 3 7.0 LTE and it feels faster and smoother than their recent quad core phones. Their top shelf devices could use a little more tuning and optimization to actually feel premium.

I do not dislike Samsung. But I am hoping they do a few things more like LG whose comparable added features don't seem to lag the device.

You want to Remove the note series since for all intent and purpose is just a bigger brother of the Flagship phone that came out months before? So I guess I am very stupid for what I personally like? I like the Plastic build because it is lightweight. I Like touchwiz so Sue me. MY first thing closest to a Smartphone was the Sidekick LX and my first "Smartphone was the iphone 3GS. I have also use the Iphone 4 then moved onto the Samsung galaxy s2 skyrocket , S3, S4 and Note 3 which I have personally never had an issue with build or UI Which does have it's faults but I like it and if you don't use a different UI ( I am using the Google Now UI which is the same as the Nexus 5)

While it is in the persons right to hate Samsung because all the "Cool" people are doing doesn't make it a Valid reason to hate a product you "might" actually like if you actually used it.... I understand why people hate Samsung phones because of Plastic or what not but there is plenty of people who hate Samsung for the same reason why people hate on iphones sometimes

You can Hate Samsung as much as you want but if it wasn't for Samsung Android would probably still be a footnote in the Smartphone world and the world would of possibly been dominated by Iphones.

Oh and to the person requesting pie charts and graphs to justify my opinion ...Get a grip I don't like sprouts do I need a pie chart for that too

Because Android let's you. Does the nexus have this screen... Stylist?.. Etc? So I should buy another phone because I change a UI? So all the other features are null?

That doesn't sound like a fair point..

There's no way EVERYONE is going to like Samsung just like there is no way EVERYONE is gonna like Apple or HTC or LG. ...par for the course, nothing more.

I'm not hating on a product because it's cool .[language removed by moderator] I have used the phone and not hating because I can and have expressed my reasons behind this

And who is to say that if it wasn't for Samsung android wouldn't be as strong I'm fairly sure people would still buy the phones and something else would come along

Android, even in that iteration, had more capability than iOS does today. It wasn't and still isn't as well executed but to argue that iOS is more feature packed is a bit comical.

The iOS android debate is far more complicated than this to be honest and at one time I really didn't like the iPhone until I actually lived with one for a while (had one decided I didn't like very quickly and got rid then got offered one cheap when I smashed my phone n had it for 6 months before this) and they do the job very very well and the other hardware to go with but I preferred android and ultimately went back but I still own my 4s basically as an iPod touch now coz it's a cracking little device

You don't understand, I prefer iOS to android because I like a pleasant user experience but to argue that iOS has more functionality in any iteration is comical.

My defense is that, I don't understand how you can dislike a company that does nothing to you. That's my point. Did Samsung rob your family member or something? I know before they were copycats but know they are a household name in smartphone and make good phones. That's why I don't understand dislike/hate towards them. If you don't like their products fine. But I am pretty sure there are things in the world that are better deserving of hate or dislike.

But like your post this is an opinion and nothing more.

You said it yourself, marketing. No other company has put a thought towards marketing like Samsung so I doubt Android would have been as prominent as it is without Samsung's marketing. Not only that Samsung is the only manufacturer in the world who can make everything about their devices in house. Processor, screens, software, it all can be made by them. They were the only manufacturer to throw devices at very price point and it paid off for them big time.

I posted a reason to hate them not long ago. Picked up an S4 as a developer device, they sent me a faulty charger that took two days to charge the phone. I called and asked for a replacement charger and they demanded that I send them the phone and all accessories with a proof of purchase in order for them to send me a replacement charger. They were quite rude on their facebook page when I posted the request, then demanded I contact an office via phone. I did, they were rude. Funny part is less than a week later the charging port went out on the phone as a result. I replaced it myself because I did not want to deal with those half wits anymore. I have never dealt with a company that was so rude. Once upon a time they cared for their customers. The problem is that they've gotten too big.
