Will you use Verizon again when your contract is up

I have had like five android phones and the storm 2 on Verizon,they have always done this. The same phone on other carriers always gets updated before the Verizon counterpart. When I bought a nexus I thought I was buying the iPhone of android and that the updates would come straight from Google and that I wouldn't have to worry about Verizon holding everything up. When the Sprint version came with 4.04 I was outraged, I started looking for another carrier then. Unfortunately other carriers coverage maps aren't as good as Verizon's in my area. Looks like I'll have to get a iPhone just so I can get direct updates from the manufacture. Before you say you can just root and flash custom Roms not everyone wants to always do that and it's the principal, the carrier should not have this much control. Google should pay what they have to just to get Verizon to let them control the phone like apple does(well apple doesn't pay anything Verizon has to answer to them because the iPhone sales like hot cakes) I want google to take control of android and force the carriers to listen or pull android from all carriers see what happens then.

Really guys... don't expect a timely update for any phone. Not even the Nexus S got 4.0.2.

I would never switch from Verizon. Their service and tech support has been amazing to me since I have had them (back when it was Cellular One). While I wouldn't be happy losing unlimited data, I would still never switch.

It is hard to tell. I think all the carriers are a crap shoot.

Verizon has the best coverage area, so I am happy with them right now. But now that I will be losing unlimited data when I upgrade? I might switch to a pre-paid that on the Verizon network for half the cost.

Its funny how this story snowballed...The FamilyShare Plan is the "ONLY" plan even under consideration to loose Unlimited Data.. If you are a Single Line Phone under contract, You are fine.

There is no family share plan for data yet. When that starts, everyone who upgrades at a subsidized price loses unlimited data. You can only avoid this by paying full retail for a phone. If you just recently upgraded or will within the next month, you should be fine for a while.
I am assuming that if only one line upgrades, you need to get the new data plan or a new family share plan for everyone. If they do the double data deal again, most people should be fine.

For everyone expecting to jump ship to another carrier, keep in mind that the other carriers will likely follow suit. It may not be until a few months after, but it would be insane for them to not make the switch. They may hold off long enough to get new subscribers signed up for a few months then pull the switch. Then, for the people who jumped, you are stuck with inferior service and locked in.
Personally, I think it will affect single line users the most. You also need to realize how much data you are actually using and make a decision.
If you buy a phone for $600 instead of $200, that's $20 a month spread out over 20 months. For that extra $20, you could get the $50 5GB plan and most people could live with that. If you are not using over 5GB a month, buying a phone full retail doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
Of course you can avoid the contract, but you still would need to come up with the money for the phone up front.

Not interested in a Nexus device so that's not a factor for me. I don't choose a carrier though based on the phone itself as my motto is: "What good is the latest super phone without a solid network to use it on?” Where I live, that's Verizon, so I'm not going anywhere. No concerns about losing grandfathered unlimited data as I pay full retail for phones. Even when the time does come when unlimited goes away I'm still good as I've never gone over 4GB in usage even when streaming NFL games. Still it would suck to lose that peace of mind of not having to worry about data usage. Finally, as to cost, a corporate discount helps (save about $10 a month). But even without it, I still feel it’s worth it for the service I receive. “You get what you pay for!”

They already have made the switch. None of the other carriers have unlimited data. Sprint does but only if your literally camping out below one of their towers so you can actually get a signal that could give you data. "We have unlimited data! If you can get the data!"

But anyways what it would be for me is If the pricing and plans are all equal then it comes down to the phones. I have seen that the other carriers tend to get the better phones faster and with more timely updates. Since I spend most of my time at home with Wi-Fi (generally don't use the phone at home except for calls anyways) and at work that has more Wi-Fi access points then they have available channels I'm rarely ever on the mobile data anyways. When I'm driving between the two I'm not using data really while driving.

Furthermore if I was using data while driving it's for the navigation maps and such for the GPS. All of these and the remote browsing, gtalk, email is more then fine over 3G so I am very tempted with the battery drain to just lock my phone in to CDMA only mode anyways.

Yeah, I'm not going anywhere when my contract is up. Not crazy about maybe having to buy a phone full retail to keep unlimited data, but I still like Verizon. The service has been stellar, and that's what really counts at the end of the day.

A nice phone with no cell service is useless. I understand using the wi-fi to offset some of the data. But, most people don't have wi-fi at work, so they only get that benefit at home. If you can't make a phone call, the phone is useless. Tried sprint years ago and couldn't wait to unload them.

My contract isn't up for another 18 months...hopefully there will be better choices by then, like Sprint LTE or prepaid plans w/ unlimited data. Why sell me a phone (GNex) with all the bells and whistles, then expect me not to use the data?

They don't expect you to not use data...they expect you to use as much data as possible...and pay for it. Its a business...in the end it all comes down to making money.

I gotta stick with Verizon, every other carrier is complete garbage in my area. Unless I go into Boston the other carriers are okay but outside of that it's spotty. Verizon is the devil, but they have the best service. I can't switch to Sprint and pay x amount a month for something that barely works. I'll pay full price for my phones and keep my unlimited data

switched from tmobile to vzw only because tmobile signal suck ass in AZ and the area where I live. ATT is no better.

i'm gonna stick to this gnex until it is completely and utterly dead before I get a new phone or think about renewing a contract.

I would maybe think about going to AT&T so I could get unlocked international models, but my girlfriend gets a discount from her employer so that's a no go.

I don't know what I'm going to do when my contract is up in June of 2013 yet. I've bought my last two phones off of e-bay (and had really great luck with that) so that I wouldn't have to extend my contract. That way, I can look at my options at the end of my contract and see what would be best for me then. I've had really good service with Verizon but am willing to see what my options are then to see where I can get the best deal for my needs. If it's with Verizon, then so be it. I'll stay with Verizon.

I don't want to stay with VZW. I switched from Sprint mainly because of the Nexus (didn't know Sprint would get it later plus $50 in Google wallet) and joining my family on their family plan. But no update or decent accessories for the phone kinda make me want to switch. Either after my contract or before. Either back to Sprint (service is decent in Seattle) or T-Mobile. Love the phone. Hate VZW.
