Will you use Verizon again when your contract is up

Seems like a lot of people feel like why move just from losing unlimited data when other carriers are inferior. I just wanted to explain its not just losing unlimited data. Its also what vzw does after you exceed your limit. If they just throttled then that's fine. But as I understand it the fcc had regulations on the lte spectrum stating they can't throttle it. In any case vzw has always just charged extra for every MB or GB of data (depending on which time period you look at). They are already expensive as can be. If I was put on a tiered plan I would have to constantly watch my data usage or get overage charges (see huge bill). That's why I look only at plans with unlimited data. I'm going to switch to virgin mobile. Sure sprints data speed suck here. But calls and texts are fine and I don't have to worry about extra charges. Plus an all around cheaper phone bill.

I more than likely will. My wife and son have Boost Mobile and I like to keep one phone in the family on a major carrier for travel purposes. Verizon usually has the best coverage when I travel for work so they keep my business at the moment.

Who buys a phone for frequent updates????? I mean who wants a phone that needs frequent updates. I bought the Gnex because it was 100% google, and I know that after a few weeks stock bores me to death and I would have the choice of finally having a phone that has CM support, even though I'm on AOKP. I mean who wants stock when I can do things like change the color of my soft keys? The phone does what I want it to do, and when the ota comes out I'll try that out too. This is the best phone I've had, but I do understand the frustrations with the ota. 4.02 was pretty bad when I was on it again a few weeks ago. Plus that could also be because months of AOKP has spoiled me. So I'll leave Verizon and go where exactly? I'm good with this awesome service I have. I also think it's funny you said "I suspect they never will" because it's a stupid statement lol. Yeah yeah yeah I know I'm an ass.

I have to many lines to switch and not sure if I could wait for all of them to be up without buying what ever phone comes out and no else has the service Verizon has in my area.

For those who said they will leave WHEN (its not an IF...it is happening) VZW takes away unlimited data.

This is inevitable...I'd be willing to bet that within a couple years, no major carrier will have true unlimited data. The speeds associated with LTE and the sheer amount of data that can be used will force out any remaining unlimited plans once those carriers upgrade their networks.

VZW pisses me off from time to time, but they have the best service by far, and until that changes...I'll stay where I am.

I switched to Verizon from Sprint. When my contract is up I'm going right back. Service is no better here than Sprint, and Verizon does some real weasel stuff with billing (one month ahead isn't post paid).
Sprint charges for a month in advance as well (I used to work for them), and I'm pretty sure that's a commonality between all the carriers.

As far as answering the topic: Yep, I plan to stick with Verizon. The only thing that will make me consider leaving is if I can't get a stock Android phone when my upgrade is available, which isn't until August 2013, so hopefully something, like another Nexus, will manage to make its way to Verizon (or be available through Google's store).

If there aren't going to be any more nexi on vzw I will be really disappointed I didn't hop on the gnex train but planing on getting the next one

I've been on Verizon about as long as I've been driving truck (mid nineties), and I'm on unlimited. I just got the wife and I GNex's (GNexi?), and kept my unlimited last month, but as of this summer and shared family data implementation, I understand that to keep it further, I'll have to pay retail for my devices. And that may change by the time my contract is up in 2014. Nonetheless, no other carrier can give me the coverage I need as a 48 state, over the road trucker. I hear others bragging about their "great deal" with someone else, until the talk turns to coverage...lol. I'll be with Verizon until I decide to come off the road, and then we'll see. Till then, I'll put up with their myriad annoying quirks, to fulfill the one and only real need I have...a signal, everywhere I go, in the continental US.
PS, the GNex is freaking sweet, even if I have to leave it plugged in most of the day. I love this phone!

Depending on how much the shared lines cost I may stick around, my family uses less than 3GB of data per month, so something like 5GB for $40 or $50 would save us some money.

I've been with Verizon for about a decade... I'd consider switching now that I'm losing unlimited. Second to that, the ability to buy unlocked phones from Google is tempting, especially if they end up doing only GSM thanks to the custom stuff on the CDMA side. With the unlocked phones if that means Google can push updates in weeks, rather than months due to the carriers, I'm all for that...

Sadly probably yes but I may have to pay the full off contract price of the phone to keep my unlimited data

Leave a carrier not for the service...not for the cost...not even for a different device..but because of a delay in incremental update from 4.0.2 to 4.0.4???

As long as I have Unlimited, I'm not going anywhere. I'll pay retail or buy from CL to stay on VZW. I just drove 6.5 hrs from Southern CA to PHX last night and was using Pandora for 4hrs on the I10 desert while kids were using my Tether (Tmobile for them) off my Gnex. I KNOW that no other carrier gets data on that part of the I10, or the one on East I10 to El Paso. VZW is the best, unless you are a person that doesn't leave a major city at all then the others work. Even Cricket will do for you. Lol

I'm switching to sprint.. I want to stay on the nexus line, but the radio in the Nexus is soo sub-par, which I guess is a Samsung thing.. hopefully someone else can make a good Nexus. Hearing great things about the new HTC's...

I wanted to last time my contract was up, but honestly after talking to friends I found that Verizon still has the best coverage by far (Portland Oregon) - especially if you venture anywhere outside the city - even by a bit.

I was at the store yesterday and my sister who is on T-Mobile had no signal what-so-ever - me? I had 4g :).

I'm for the most part happy with them.

I'll stay with Verizon for as long as I can keep my unlimited data plan. I'll pay full price for my phones. It's worth it. I'm switching if and when I lose unlimited data. Verizon isn't worth their high price without unlimited data.

Verizon is the only service available where I live so I don't have a choice to stay with them.

They need to get 4g running in my area. Borderline. Still runs 3g. South of me has 4g....
But I wont let the phone toggle....will use too much juice

Its funny how this story snowballed...The FamilyShare Plan is the "ONLY" plan even under consideration to loose Unlimited Data.. If you are a Single Line Phone under contract, You are fine.

Nah. I'll be going to At&t. This way I can buy international phones. Like the Nexus that's supposed to come out with Jelly Bean. I'm done with Verizon. Taking away unlimited and turning down good phone (I.e. HTC done, Galaxy S II) was the last straw.
