I found the gingerbread OTA update.zip if anyone can do anything with it. It was in my cache.

Going to be a lot longer than that. I have the software running (and rooted) but it's running on the ZVD radio which doesn't work at all. All I did was strip the radio.img from the update ZIP, and modify some stuff in the updater-script. DO NOT DO THIS, YOU WILL RENDER YOUR DEVICE USELESS AS A PHONE!
The only way I was able to root it was through the custom recovery. As per my various tests, Gingerbreak does NOT work with this update.
Furthermore, it appears that LG/Sprint have decided not to release this update through the LG Mobile Update tool. I have checked the LG servers for signs of the update as per these instructions but so far have gotten no results*.
* The instructions named above do work, but the LG server is displaying that there is no update available, even using the serial number from a non-refurbished device. Hopefully they put it on the LG servers soon, but don't get your hopes up.
anybody know if they got the FM radio fixed in this OTA GB?, been wanting to use mine for like forever.
so what does this exactly mean? no gb update or will just take some time

Hi Drew,
Unlike past updates, the ZVD->ZVH update does not patch the existing recovery AFAICT.
If you were running ZVD stock recovery prior to update.zip, you should still be running ZVD stock recovery afterwards.
Since ZVD stock recovery is rootable using gingerbreak, you should be able to root the stock ZVD recovery after the ZVH update.zip.
Of course once you do that, everything is open.
Could you confirm? Hopefully the analysis is correct.

You just need to root boot.img and /system then flash. Thats all it will take man. IM telling you, its going to be very easy. They left this update wide open.Well now that's interesting. I'm going to check this out immediately.

EDIT: Do you mean wont work without the new radio?Won't work with the new radio. You NEED the new radio. But the new radio cannot be flashed outside of the OTA update.zip
It's not that easy.
Are you assuming someone is not running stock recovery? You just need to root boot.img and /system then flash. Thats all it will take man. IM telling you, its going to be very easy. They left this update wide open.

Are you assuming someone is not running stock recovery? That's what I think.
If not, then won't rooting boot.img cause update.zip to fail the integrity check in stock recovery? Yes, absolutely.
If you are not running stock recovery, which custom recovery are you running that can properly flash the radio? There is none.
Sorry I haven't been following Optimus that closely so maybe things have progressed since I last remember.
I think it was just a typo. He posted earlier he had the update installed while running the old radio and it wasn't working well.EDIT: Do you mean wont work without the new radio?
Yeah that's what I meant, sorry.
Radio.img CANNOT be flashed with ANY custom recovery image, it WILL cause a brick 100% of the time.
Last I recall LG flashes the radio in some non-obvious way passing some parameters in a partition back to the stock recovery and nobody who wrote custom recoveries could get it working outside of stock recovery. They tried to emulate what the stock recovery was doing, but it kept bricking the phone. Why cant we? You said it results in brick 100% of the time. What is the exact issue that causes it to fail? Does the recovery not understand the correect mount points or something?
Thats what I needed to know...Last I recall LG flashes the radio in some non-obvious way passing some parameters in a partition back to the stock recovery and nobody who wrote custom recoveries could get it working outside of stock recovery. If you can get radio flashing working in a custom recovery, I'm sure people would appreciate it.
If you are researching how to flash the radio within custom recovery, that would be helpful.Thats what I needed to know...
Ok... Hmmm... That adds a twist. I got a couple ideas I need to research.
