Theoreticaly you should still be on ZV9 recovery right now. If so, you should be able to use these instructions to root (make sure you read the RED sections):

http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg...-guide-rooting-software-version-ls670zvc.html

Start the instructions at "This guide assumes you have added the Android SDK tools directory to your PATH variable"

Again, this is all "in theory" as I don't have an Optimus handy to try it out. Be prepared for hiccups.

can't get into adb shell from recovery.

i think it's time to write this badboy up. we're back to old school rooting again, but i've got 2.3.3 rooted, busybox and su installed!

just loaded up es file explorer, and it's been granted root access. this is great. rooted gingerbread in less than 12 hours from the announced release.

You are now LEGEND! Bask in your glory! Make a very very good write and also flash back to a custom recovery and include those steps so we can have some real fun!

wow! im lost lol is the update as simple as placing the zip in ur SD and flashing it?

only if you're still using stock recovery. if not, you have to flash back to v9 recovery, and root it using the old rageagainstthecage root method from the v9 days.

Eh. Yes and No. Sounds like what you are looking for is a custom rom. Just hang out for a couple of days and see what the devs are able to come up with! :D
