[7.14.11][ROM] Das BAMF Sense 3.0 RC4.9

^^
Same as this guy... Im on RC5pre, I have noticed with the rc5 that the phone locks up when attempting to overclock the cpu through the toolkit, but I can go into the terminal and use the speedtweak.sh that I used for th3oryrom and it works fine. does RC4.9 fix this?

I'm using setcpu to overclock

Not to be picky. I love this ROM. But one other bug I did not see listed is the notes widget also needs to be resided. Loving this ROM sorry cm7 sense 3.0 is where's its at

Noob Question.... Im from a Motorola Device so this method is new to me...

So if I want to install this rom is this the correct steps??
1. Root using Auto root from http://forums.androidcentral.com/th...unroot-windows-updated-5-20-w-mr1-update.html which will have me on MR1
2. Install and backup nandroid with ROM Manager
3. Install [7.14.11][ROM] Das BAMF Sense 3.0 RC4.9 rom from http://forums.androidcentral.com/th...9-7-14-11-rom-das-bamf-sense-3-0-rc4-9-a.html
Is this done through ROM Manager or do I install it through the Recovery menu

At this point will I be done or do I still need to install the MR2 Radio from [RADIO] Official OTA MR2 Radio 1.39.00.0627r [7/8/2011] - xda-developers

I didn't see anyone answer your question, but I'll do my best to explain what I've learned as a fellow newbie to the world of rooting and flashing roms. You are correct on step one. For step two, I've been doing nandroids through recovery. I suppose Rom Manager might do the same. I don't know if it's necessary or not, but you might want to wipe your Dalvik Cache and the regular cache in recovery before flashing the new Rom. Install the new Rom in recovery, not Rom Manager. After you get the new Rom installed, you'll need to flash the new radio--you won't have data until you do. After that, you can go about reconfiguring your device and getting it set up the way you want.

I will say that I just followed the directions in the sticky threads at the top of this forum and it has helped me get comfortable with getting this (and two previous roms) up and running and I've been really happy with 4.9 over the last 12 hours (granted I was sleeping for part of that!) Good luck!

After installing this ROM did anyone else get an email from Google's Android Team thanking them for purchasing a Nexus S? I've installed other roms in the past couple of months and I've never gotten anything like that in my inbox. Thoughts?

I think I did after I flashed my first Bamf rom, which was RC4. I didn't get one when I did RC5pre or RC4.9 though.

I got an email for the nexus yesterday when i flashed RC4.

Question for all, I just rooted and flashed RC4, and I am pretty damn happy for the first 24 hrs. If I flash the 4.9 do I need to flash the 2 or 2.5 radios again, or should the radios stay even with a full wipe?

The radio will not change if you do a data wipe or flash a rom.

The only thing that will change your radio is flashing a different radio or ruu file which contains a radio.

@ titans - have you tried google voice?

One thing i noticed from the forums is that some people have problems that others dont. It seems like it may be phone to phone related. any thoughs?

I updated to RC 4.9, and this rom is much smoother from RC 4. However speed dial 2 still does not work. Are there any mods for these issues? I was over to the BAMF site and didnt see any.

Also some times i have random issues mounting as a disk drive it takes several attempts to make the connections. I also noticed back on BAMF preview3 the USB dock screen was jazzed up showed an SD card icon and charge icon. Went to RC2 it was still there RC3 made it go away:confused:

So far I'm enjoying this rom, but I have one major issue that I can't seem to solve. How do you disable unlock/wake via the volume keys? I've been trying to register at Team BAMF forums, but the keycaptcha doesn't seem to be taking, even though I've lined up the photo perfectly. Any help would be great on this. Thanks!

I always have thought you know that, just sometimes they don't make any sense :p

Ever phone is a little different and will have different experiences with roms, kernels, and radios. Some people have no issues running CM7 where I seem to have more FC using it on my Dinc and Bolt. Another reason is sometimes people don't complete a full wipe when updating a Rom or flash a new one that is why I always perform a full wipe when changing.

ding ding ding. This is why Adrynalyne and company usually recommend wipes since things can go wonky. Example: Somewhere in between RC 4, RC5pre and RC4.9, my Super User got borked and decided it just didn't like certain apps (shootme was the main one). Even after granting it root access, the app still told me I wasn't rooted. Clearing Super User data in Manage Applications seems to have fixed that issue but sometimes it's not always that easy. Some will say, "but I don't wanna wipe". Fine but don't expect the developers or others to help you when you already can't follow directions. My suggestion is invest in some sort of backup tool like MyBackup Pro or Titanium Backup. I'm partial to the former but either should pay for itself the first time you have to restore from a factory reset/data wipe.

What is the consensus on overclocking with this ROM. I've been rooting and using Das BMF since I got my bolt but I have never tried to overclock. Do I need something like SetCPU? I have the extended battery since I couldn't get through a day without it so I'm not terribly worried about battery life.

By the way these ROMS are amazing.
