Anyone get Note 8 just to kill time till the real king arrives, LG V30!

With disappointing V30 (5 mp front camera, 4 GB RAM, 3300mah battery. Sorry for folks who complained about battery size on note 8), I guess it's the end of this thread. Amen :)

You realize that the v30 has a smaller screen than the note 8 so battery will be better.

Display size on an OLED is not the determining factor, it's # of Pixels, and they're roughly the same. Pixels are turned on and off, not the whole display. But more important to battery life, is display efficiency (Samsung is the master of this, possibly the master's god), kernel efficiency and processing/resource management. Both LG and Samsung suck at the latter, but the Note series has traditionally done very well at prolonging battery life to tweaks to the kernel. If I was a betting man, my money would be on the Note 8 not just winning on battery life, but blowing LG out of the water.

well said, and I would expect the same.\

Yes, 0.3 inch. Even when compared to S8+ it is smaller. If the phone is targeting video enthusiasts and audiophiles, it should have bigger battery or replaceable battery. You will see the difference in RAM when using split screen multi tasking. Also, not everyone upgrades phones every year and so future proofing makes people comfortable. It's just that am disappointed. Was expecting better job from LG as competition is good for consumers.

I have JOD and can get a new phone every month if I please. So why not try the Note 8 if the v30 doesn't come out till a month later if its not gonna cost me anything out of pocket. On top of that I get all the free gifts for preordering that I can turn around and sell to actually put cash IN my pocket. Im not trying to convince anyone to switch, especially not in a Note 8 forum. My question was simple. how many other people are like me, who are just getting the note 8 to pass time till the v30 arrives.

That is your prerogative, but IIRC you do have to at least pay sales tax on the order.

Is this even a serious answer?

That's like saying hey you and your pen, you know what? I can write too. Look at me and my crayons!

You obviously missed my point. He was talking like the Note is the only phone with a stylus/pen incorporated when there's clearly others out there already and LG is already one of them. I've no idea how the LG Stylus range performs, I couldn't actually care but it is a phablet with a built in removable stylus

No I said similar or better to the SPen. A stylus is not on the same level or have functions close to the SPen. If you've used an SPen you know what i mean

My son has the LG Stylo 3. Nice device but nothing like the Note. It's basically pen to paper. No extra functionality. Only 32GB (expandable) and 2 gb RAM. It suits his needs perfectly though. Thinks he's King of the Hill.

Sales tax is paid monthly on JoD.

Thanks for the clarification, I lost my JOD plan when I returned my Note 7 and went back to my (already paid for ) Note 3. I'm looking forward to getting it back so I have the option for the Note 9 if the Note 8 does not fully satisfy my Note addiction.

No I didn't miss the point. You did.

He said similar to the SPen specifically. The stylus on the LG Stylo series are not even remotely close to the S Pen. It's like crayons vs pens.

V30 was launched today. I was tempted for about 5 minutes, but after reading this thread the feeling went away. :)

Also someone keeps typing V30 is the first with OLED screen. That's false. It's the first LG with that screen. Samsung has been putting out super amoled for sometime.

I think everyone knows that OLED has been out a long time... they meant it's LG's first OLED panel in a long time. This is a POLED display.

no, a member keeps typing in this thread that this is the first ever in the history of phones with OLED screen. some members may believe that so I wanted to doubly clarify.
