Anyone get Note 8 just to kill time till the real king arrives, LG V30!

They both look bad lol. Garish glass yet still boxy body, curved edges to the display, whole lot of meh. lol

Ha. Call me crazy but I really like the look and feel of the note 8.

I think it's LG's UI that just looks wicked dated to me

Better get used to it.

Yeah, I know. That's the direction the industry is going. I'll be grumpy about it for a few more months, then I'll stfu. I don't actually dislike it that much anyways, I just prefer the look of the metal phones. But they're dinosaurs now just like the plastic ones were.

It's not about a perfect device it's also not about LG versus Samsung because in the end Apple wins because there's more people rocking iPhones than Samsung than anything else but Samsung is right there yes the Galaxy Note for older users and know what it's for understand the capabilities and love it for that very same reason but I'm knock on LG is they don't stand next to us that's all it is hands down. I have yet to meet someone with an LG phone
That's because there's only one device that runs iOS, and there's a multitude that run Android.

I currently have the V20 (typing on it currently) and it's been a pretty good phone. Never once had a boot loop issue, almost a year into ownership and battery life is still great. If I hadn't had to return my N7, I probably wouldn't have ever given the V20 a passing glance. But it was the "next best thing" in my eyes and it gave me the opportunity to try my first non-Samsung android device and its been a pleasant experience. Getting a device with the latest version of Android out of the box was a nice added perk. Wide angle camera has been fun to use, secondary display wasn't important to me but it is nice. Care it's gone on the v30? Nah. I may find myself getting it later on in the fall just to have another device to mess around with.

Aside from that, I did pre-order the Note 8 just because I like the note line and have always liked the Samsung cameras. The device is going to take some getting used to because of its height but it checks a fair amount of boxes for what I want in a device, which to be honest isn't much or demanding at all. Looking forward to having both devices really

Subjective of course but these youtubers are really impressed on the V30 and willing to make the comparison and recommend it.

I am sure youtubers like the V30 perfect match for their video needs. If you have your own YouTube channel the V30 is great. Personally I shoot very little video. Advanced video features play zero interest when I look at a phone.

Almost all YouTubers who are successful are called "Influencers" to ad agencies and they are all basically on payroll. Some get money just to show up at events. For example one hot YouTuber (non-tech) with near 5 million subscribers gets $25K just to show you to your red carpet event and talk about it.

So, I never, ever care what a YouTuber says specially when they are covering brands (any industry) and I only care about tips and tricks. Their opinions are all paid for. :)
Don't forget forums also have viral marketers hanging out pushing certain phones and making snide comments on other phones.

You should check out Flossy Carter. A little brash for some tastes but definitely not on payroll.
Anyone who gets paid on high viewer rates is compensated. They make brash comments to drive traffic to their channel. Don't trust anyone on YouTube they are all trying to generate viewers.

Exactly! And for me, and you it seems, it's the Note!

Right on! It appears that you've already checked it out too. Less you're going on faith? That screen of course, that 6 gigs & all the S Pen enhancements. My God! I've already sent Live Messages (one of the features that I really didn't care about) to myself & others! Actually easy to do & pretty cool.

Of course they are. That doesn't mean they don't love what they do, and the phones they praise.

At the end of the day they don't make your final decision for you. I like watching them explore features I haven't gotten to use yet. No body decides what phone I buy but me

I typically don't listen to 'final words' on reviews. I just take a look at the phone and features presented. It's the closest thing to checking the phone out and it's features without actually holding onto the thing.

Exactly. Some people watch these things to get validation of their phone choice. That's a losing game, as 2 weeks later they'll be on to the next hot device. I don't need anyone to tell me whether I made the right choice or not.

As a former lg v20 owner I'm never buying another lg phone ever again.

If you want a pretty screen and a good camera, then get a v30.... If you actually care about the functionality of your phone, then get a note 8. LG don't include any special software... Whereas the note 8...has a lot of specific software for the s pen.

Your never buying an LG phone ever again because the LG did have any special software??

That's like saying I'll never buy a Google Pixel again because it didn't come with any special software. :-\

To anyone who buys a v30 over a note 8: Have fun with your buyers remorse. You know once you see a buddy or someone with a note 8, you will think to yourself, dang I should have gotten that phone.

Funny. I haven't thought that about any previous Note phone

Mod note: Let's get back on topic, please. If it can't, I will consider the thread has run it's course and close it.

I'm just speaking from my personal experience. I have used many different phones and I always come back to the Note line.

I understand that and the Note may be a great device for you and many others. There's no denying that. It's just not for everyone, myself included. I don't want a phone that tall, I don't like the edge display (although it better than the S8 & S8+) and the stylus is a moot point for me. The Note 8 camera looks like it'll be killer but I like the LG wide angle camera...

Even though the V30 is my choice it's not a 100% slam dunk either. I work construction and a glass back phone doesn't seem as practical although I do gain water resistance.

This year is providing some very nice phones from the G6 to the S8 and the V30 to the Note. Not to mention the Pixel phones and the Mate 10 still coming down the line.
