I feel like Charlie Brown collecting rocks at Halloween. My Messages app got updated to 3.3.044, but I still don't have a "Messages for web" option.
I am running Android P on 2XLWhat phone do you have? Which android version?
EDIT: Sorry , I didn't realize this was in the Pixel 2/XL section. I googled and this thread came up

You have to flush the old version out of memory before you see the entry. Only updating is not enough.
The app update with Web Messages support is rolling out slowly. My wife's Z2 Play just received the app update. But nothing for my Z Force yet. It takes time to hit all phones, I guess.
That does not work. The update is rolling out in waves. I just have to waitYou have to flush the old version out of memory before you see the entry. Only updating is not enough.

It's a server side switch, so Google pushes the flag update out to individual device IDs.I had three phones receive the app update last night, all the same app version. 2 out of 3 do not have the new option. My work phone does (Turbo 2) but not my Z Force & Z Play personal.phones. I have uninstalled updates to Messages, cleared app data, disabled, rebooted > then re-enable, reinstall the new app version twice last night. And still no Web Messages option. I did notice that when I switched to Verizon Message + this morning that hundreds of old texts that didn't appear in Messages showed up in the Message+ app. So, I deleted everything, every single text thread. Rebooted the phone, and repeated above (Messages > clear data, uninstall updates, disable, reboot, enable, install app again) and still no Web Messages option.
I wonder if a data glitch causes the new option to not appear? Or does Google need to turn something "On" on their end with your GMail account? My work phone that does have the option is on a different GMail account than my two personal phones that do not have the new option.
There has to be a reason why so many people have the new app update and do not have the new Web Messages option in the app.
That makes sense, but are you sure? It is very plausible. It's a server side switch, so Google pushes the flag update out to individual device IDs.
Google needs to learn to keep their collective traps shut about these sorts of things until they’re ready to go all in with any updates.Google should let us sign up for early access
