Anyone giving up on LG and moving to Google Pixel XL?

Verizon is the only carrier selling it. Meaning I can't finance a Pixel with T-Mobile. I'm qualified for $0 down on phones at T-Mobile.

Oh, I see. All the Play store purchase are also 0% down, 0% interest if you choose financing option. But I guess that means a separate payment to keep up with too.

Verizon exclusive = fail

If you want your product to sell well......wouldn't you want to offer it on every carrier?!?!

You can use it on every carrier. Verizon only has exclusive to have it inside a physical store. I hate going inside a phone store and would rather it be delivered anyway, either by Verizon or Google.

Ah ok...thanks for the info!

Man you're just not getting much for $870. No micro sd card, waterproofing, stereo speakers, wireless charging etc.. Besides the superior camera and fast updates, the pixels are are almost spec for spec with the axon 7.

Which is why I bought my Axon 7 a few weeks ago. $400 delivered for the quartz one. So far it is an amazing phone.

Don't forget best buy, Amazon, etc.
I have a best buy credit card. I just don't have enough on it to buy the Pixel. Wondering if I should pay it down and get a Pixel around Black Friday because I'm sure there's going to be a sale or deal of some sort.

No, the Pixel XL (ha!) is just too small for me. Hell, the V10/V20 is too small but no one is making a decent 6"+ phone these days.

Only at first... No way that Google keeps GAsst as a Pixel only feature. That would mean that they see Google Assistant as a carrot to get people to buy Pixels. Akin to how Apple has iMessage an iPhone only feature... its an achor to keep people purchasing iphones, a device whose sales provides 2/3rds of Apple's operating revenue. But Google isn't looking to sell phones, or sell home assistants, or smart wifi routers... they are looking for all that hardware to get people using Google Assistant. The Pixel is still, in a sense, a means to an end... just more directed than the Nexus.

Well see some GAsst features how up in other phones in the upcoming months, and the 6P and 5X will get a good chunk of it when they get 7.1 (by the end of the year Google said). But I think they are going to have Google Assisant on as many phones (and platforms) as they can manage.

You may be right. I misread the line a bit.

"As of TODAY, the Pixel and Pixel XL are the only phones that can use Google Assistant outside of the Allo app."

Definitely gonna get a Pixel XL next year. My G4 will be a year old in December so its time to move up tech wise.

I prefer a device with 64gb internal and a sd slot. 192gb more storage with no OTG to deal with. Extra stuff to keep up with. Hard to charge at same time too.

Love LG but they killed me with the g5 I just don't like it so was hoping to get rid of it with the v20 because I loved the v10 but they are taking the sweet *** time so off to the pixel xl I will miss the swappable battery but hello fast and first updates lol

I'm just reading between the lines here. The Pixels will be the first phones to get 7.1... and Google said that the 5X and 6P will get it by the end of the year, with one or more developer previews prior. That seems somewhat odd to me to be honest, since if 7.1 releases with the Pixels, why will it be in developer preview shortly after? The QA person in me comes to the conclusion that 7.1, even 'released' is still a bit of a work in progress.... as is Google Assistant. Now, when will the 5X and 6P get more of Google Assistant? That remains to be seen... but I suspect we'll get a subset of GAsst along those 7.1 builds with a more integrated GAsst when 7.1 releases 'later in the year'....

Later in the year sounds ominous, except when you look at the fact that people will get their Pixels about the end of October, so the end of the year is but two months away. So figure a DP build beginning of November with a full release of 7.1 in December.... then maybe a more phased rollout of more GAsst features. Then once the non-Google sourced phones get 7.0/7.1... whenever the OEMs get off their backsides and get it out, then there will be Google Assistant goodness for all.

What will Google Assistant be on the Nexus (and OEM) phones? I don't think it will necessarily be the same as the Pixel, Google might keep some goodies held back. But I think that what we get of Google Assistant will be a plug in place replacement of Google Now and Google On Tap. What we DON'T know is how much more that Google Assistant is on the Pixels.

Why so optimistic? Google never said "Phone-level Google Assistant will always be a Pixel exclusive feature". That would be both counter-productive AND self-destructive. Google wants everyone... iPhone users included, to use their services. Cutting what is becoming their biggest, most important service off at the knees would pretty much assure its doom. It may very well be that the Nexus and Non-Nexus phones get the same Google Assistant.

But that's exactly what we get now. The only difference between how a Nexus phone has Google Now and On Tap versus what LG or Samsung have is that the Google Launcher is pre-loaded as the default system launcher. Functionality wise, everyone has access to Now, has access to the On Tap features, etc. So if those get replaced by Google Assistant, but without some as-yet-unknown or unmentioned Pixel exclusive bits....

I hope your right about the updates, but remember that the carriers are in the mix now. If you buy unlocked you will be good to go for sure.

What didn't you like about the LG G5? I am being burned by HTC One M8 as it's battery has failed me, pushed me to the point where I never want to get a phone with a non removable battery again.

Ok so I don't like how it feels on my hand a little fatter then the LG g4 which was a great phone. Before I swapped the phone out I would see a ghosting of the back button home button area and and notification while one a different screen or watching a video. I miss the volume rocker on the back and honestly don't like how it looks anymore

No SD expansion memory
No changeable battery.
See Gibbs rule #9

'always carry a pocket knife and never buy a phone without a removable battery. '
