Battery drain issue after 4.4.3

My battery was perfect before the 4.4.3 update on my Nexus 5. I could get a day out of a full charge. Now its a mess. The battery drains so fast now. I cleared the cash and did the "wipe cache partition" on the recover mode screen. And its just sucking the life out of my phone. Its gone done 3% just typing this. Any ideas?

I have this weird and disgusting issue that I am facing. After the update to 4.4.3 my battery life has gone down by half. Earlier when I charged my phone it used to show me (on Battery Doctor app) that time remaining is ~42 hours. Now after the update it has gone down to ~22 hours.
I am a very light phone user. Earlier a single charge would last 2 days. But after the update, my phone's charge does not even last a single day.

Basically the same thing the users here mentioned.

Any kind of help will be appreciated

Yeah, something is up with my battery since the update. This is significantly less than what I've been used to.

I finally got so fed up that I did a factory reset tonight. We'll see if that works...

Keep us posted as this is also an annoying issue I am having as well.

Well, for me, doing what was suggested in this thread seems to have worked. Or at least helped quite abit. I did the restore cache wipe yesterday and my battery use is close to back in line from what it was. I think it may still be a little higher, but close enough for my needs.

i think my standby time is pretty good. went to bed last night at ~98%. on WIFI, a few quick web/phone checks during night and early morning. 9 hours later and i'm at 95%.

Yeah, I'm getting better battery life than I used to now a few days in. Getting 2 days of use out of it with an hour of calls and an hour to 90 minutes of screen time.

Of course, I flashed the entire 4.4.3 ROM rather than just the update. That might not be a bad option for anyone having issues. (I'll find and post a link to the flashable zip when I get a chance).

Edit: Full flashable zip here. You may have to fix root afterwards. I was able to flash without wiping data and have had no issues.

I see a definite improvement. Keep in mind I cleared the system cache and wiped the cache partition on several occasions prior to taking this drastic of a measure. Standby time has greatly improved since the factory reset. There is no way I'm getting 2 days a charge as some others are getting but overall I think it was worth the hour or so to reset everything. I am on my phone a lot and do use at least 2-3 hours of screen time a day. So I'll see how the battery hold up for the day. I took the phone off the charger at 8am this morning and am at 76 percent battery with about an hour of screen on time.

I've had G+ do that as well; a reboot sorts it out. I had hd widgets do that too. Generally battery life doesn't seem to have changed much for me. Going to switch off LTE at work as the signal is weak and the phone bounces between that and hspa. Suspect that will help. On wifi battery is great.

I just discovered WiFi was killing my battery. I ran it all day today with WiFi off and used it as I regularly do and I still have 75% after a full day of use. If I were to of used WiFi, it would be at around 30% after a full day of use. Is this normal behavior for WiFi to be consuming so much battery??

Probably not. I am connected to WiFi all day long and show only about 4% drain every 9 hours of idle(when tings are acting normal)

Thanks. I've wiped the cache through recovery twice since the new update. Should I do another one or resort to factory reset?

Well, we seem to know that clearing the cache partition helps with many issues, but for some of those issues, it seems only temporary. I hate the idea of factory wipes, but sometimes that is extremely effective as a last resort.

I experienced the battery drain after I did the 4.4.3. I did a factory reset last Friday..everything was going good until this morning when the dreaded Android OS showed up as the main battery killer. Battery is going down 5% an hour just sitting here without me doing anything on it. Not sure what to do but start uninstalling apps to see if I notice any changes..

Interesting how wake drops off when wifi is on. I know it's a short term sample....

Yup. My problem exactly. I just did a factory reset myself and it has been better since. But I was draining about 5 percent an hour while on standby.

Same here. I did the cache wipe and it initially seemed better. Loosing about 5% an hour with very little use. I'm going to hold out till the weekend and probably do the factory reset and then add apps slowly to see what may be the issue.

Before the update, I would fully charged at night and wake up to find it at 95%. Now after the update, it drains down to 59% overnight. So something has changed drastically. I cleared the app cache and the partition to see if it helps. If not, I'll have to try the last resort and factory reset.

Factory reset seems to have worked for me. I'm getting 4 plus hours of screen on time and excellent standby. Usually drain maybe a percent an hour if that. It was worth the hassle of a factory reset in my case.
