BestBuy: Galaxy Note 8 Pre-Order Thread

Just went in BB and no display and the guy sitting in the Samsung area didn't know what a N8 was REALLY

I interviewed at Best Buy recently for a Verizon Specialist position, their employee pay is a joke, I wouldn't take the job seriously if I worked there. Burger King pays better where I live lmao.

Since we can't get the either blue device in the US (Sigh) I ordered the black AT&T model. Says it will be here release day and I placed the order an hour ago so that's cool . I'm excited.

I think you have to wait until you actually have the Note8. Then follow the instructions on the Best Buy site. At least that's the way I understood it. So we get the Note8 on the 15th or so - probably 5-10 days after that (just a guess).

I ordered it yday- whatever battery concerns I had were out shadowed by the big display and sPen.

For the life of me, I can't figure out the 50% off Note8 discount at Bestbuy. It clearly states that you get it, but need to do so at Verizon. I've talked to two employees at Bestbuy, three at Verizon and get a different story everytime. Has anyone figured this out?

To anyone that is hoping to take advantage of the BB $150 & THEN go trade in your phone with VZW to get the $480 promo... I just got off the phone with Verizon and I was told you CANNOT do that. The representative I spoke with said you can't pre-order through someone else and receive the trade in credit. So disappointing!

I was just looking at Best buy for the trade in info and didn't see it. That might have gotten me

also that trade in is for a fully paid off device. if it is on the installment plan you won't receive any real benefit unless you owe less than the trade in value. I made the mistake of buying the S8+ on payments. if I had just kept using my Note 5 I could have gotten the Note 8 for about $500. Verizon did cancel my current S8+ agreement and credited the remaining balance in dome weird way. So I will upgrade to the Note 8 with a new payment plan. did not get the full trade in but did get 8 months of payments credited to equal 50% payment and eligible to upgrade. is to note 8.

I was told otherwise by a VZW rep.

They do advertise the trade-in promotion on the best buy site. You have to go the to the big Note 8 promo page on the BB site, then scroll to the bottom where is lists deals for each carrier. When you click learn more under Verizon, it lists the same promo that's on the VZW site.

You're correct it is listed on the BB website but that doesn't mean Verizon is going to accept the trade in for the $480 promo, you would only receive the regular trade in value. It's basically rolling the dice because VZW is notorious for going back and forth. You can call & one rep will say one thing & call back & another will say something different. I hope it works out for you but I'm not going to take that chance. I would really upset if I end up paying $32.50 per month instead of $20 had I dealt directly with Verizon. The way the rep explained it to me is you're not allowed to double dip. When I brought up the "gifts" from Samsung she said that's not considered the same thing because that's a gift after purchase and it's not from them.

I forgot to ask, the VZW rep you spoke with, was that in BB or VZW corporate? If it was a rep from a corporate store, you might want to get it in writing so you're not screwed over later.

Are you sure because when I pre ordered bestbuy gave me what the total monthly would be with the 480 and the 150. They are advertising that you can get both(read the screen shot I attached) . It sounds like the reps aren't informed or don't want you going through bb which usually is the case as they don't like you buying from a 3rd party.

Like I said already, this is what I was told by a VZW representative when I called in. Am I positive she was 100% accurate?.. No, I don't work for Verizon. You can call them 10 times and each time you'll get a different answer for the same question. The thing is, when you pre-order through VZW & you get to the trade in part, you get the $480 in the quote and in the final pricing breakdown in the form of a $20 reduction in the monthly payment. When you go through BB for the pre-order, you don't get asked if you're trading in a phone. You don't get that $480 reflected in the price, you'll only see the $150. You're supposed to go to VZW after you receive the N8 to trade in the phone & hope they'll give you the promo. I'm not going to bother gambling on that. I'd rather for sure get $480 vs $150. Would I like both? Absolutely! But I won't take the chance.

It tells you the steps at the bottom which is go to vzw.com and complete the trade in process. They did the same thing when the s8 came out. I'm just glad the requirements aren't the new unlimited plan like it was for the s8 as I have the grandfather unlimited.

I'm going to take my chances. I ordered through BB to get the 150 and trade in my Note 5 at a Corporate Store. If I don't get the $480 trade in value, I have at least 14 days to take phone back to BB and then order through Verizon. The trade in promo goes through 10/04/17.
