Bingo! I finally figured out how to get things straight in my Droid X 2.2 update

Launcher Pro does not seem to be availabe from the Marketplace as of this post. Maybe an update is coming. Also, you metion Google Search version. How do you determine which version is installed.

for thoes who are running 2.2 and LauncherPro-

if you use the Google Search Widget make sure you use the "Google Search" (bottom) and not the "Search" (top) widget-

idk why the Search widget is even a option if the Google Search is the upgrade-

It is outstanding.

+1. Just installed it and removed everything from the stock UI, set LP as my default and WOW. Not only did the reset help but add LP to the phone, and this is exactly how the stock phone should feel, very smooth and responsive. Very happy with the X now.

I read through this whole thread and I am going to factory reset. I cant figure out something though. I can't unmount my SD card. I select it and it says unmount in progress and then it eventually just goes back to saying unmount SD card. I can't format it when I can't unmount it. Any one have an idea to solve this issue?

Edit: NVM I tried it like 10 times then the first time I try it after posting it works...

I had that problem too at first and then it finally gave in to my command. Depends on how much you have stored on the card and how big the capacity is as well.

I am working through doing this and wasn't able to format my SD card via the phone so I did it through my laptop. Once it was done formatting, it said the total space and total available space was about 14.82GB. Does that sound about right for a 16GB card?

Yup. Don't expect any SD card, or any type of storage period, to be at or very close to the total capacity. Just like my 250GB external hard drive, with nothing on it, sits at 238GB. The difference between total storage and whats actually available is normal.

Since my Froyo upgrade my Camcorder won't work. I removed the battery and did a soft reset. Still don't work. I can go into it but when I go to press the red button on top or the red dot on the screen to record it goes back to the home screen and won't record. Anybody else encounter this problem and do you have a solution?

So I went through this entire process as soon as I got my battery charged to 30%, got done and my battery sits at 60% and it has been for an hour sense I did the reset. Weird...

Worked for me on my Motorola Droid. Seems this fix would be specific to Android as opposed to any specific phone.

Thanks! This resolved all of my slowed motorola droid problems that started with the 2.2 Froyo update.

With 2.2 installed correctly (which should be you now), battery reading is much more accurate and is noticeably better, or rather, lasts longer.

Good point. I'd be willing to bet the original droid updates were similar to this. Hmm... Wonder if the original droid would perform better doing a reset with my instructions in the first post... Anyone wanna give it a try? ;)

My OTA 2.2 was working flawlessly (except for the known bugs), and out of curiosity I tried the reset method mentioned here.
After the reset, it's still working flawlessly, and I'm not noticing any performance change at all - which means my original upgrade done without factory reset worked as it was supposed to.
I bet most people fall under this category...
Also, I'm not having any issues with LauncherPro on 2.2
This was a very educational experience, nevertheless.

@Fabrian I did follow your instructions on my original motorola droid. It fixed all the problems I was seeing.

Here's something I don't understand and I was hoping someone might have an idea. I was on OTA 2.2 rooted. I wanted to try this and was sure I would loose root and have to re-root. I followed the instructions from the OP on post #1 to the "T".

Formated the SD card 1st.
Unchecked all the back up stuff.
Did the wipe.
Did not log in.
Unchecked the back up stuff again.
Logged in.

What I don't understand is my phone remained rooted! How could that be possible? And don't ask me if I am sure I did it all right. I am very nervous about stuff like this - so I follow the instructions.

How could I wipe all my data and start from scratch and retain root?

Ok this is odd. I went into appbrain, found the app and added it to my list. Launched appbrain on my Droid X and found it. I still could not find in marketplace. I was able to install if I went through AppBrain. I am hoping some competing Android App markets will kick Google into getting some of these oddities worked out.

Any one have any luck getting LP in the market lately? I reset my phone and now I can't get my LPP back.

I dont believe you ARE rooted. The SU icon stays, but if you open it no apps should have permission and no 'root only' apps should work. This was my experience until I did the 'one-click' 2.2OTA root. Now I am rooted again waiting for Birdman's ROM.
