Bionic's still coming, is defintely new hardware - XT875

Just curious, but if the issue was resolved on February why don't I have a bionic on my hands? Was there another issue that caused it to be redesigned or to have per release etna(?) device replaced by the targa?

Actually, it wasn't. I'll take BMX's word over yours any day of the week. The heat issue was part of the reason the 'original' bionic was canned, and it had to do directly with Tegra 2's issues with transitioning between 3G and 4G.

Actually its not MY word. The gentleman who was the first to make that info public was one of the guys saying the issue had been fixed back in February. I don't know about you but hearing it from the guy who first brought it to EVERYONES attention pretty much trumps all other info out there don't you think?

The CES Bionic wasn't cancelled was it? I was spreading bad rumor and didn't know what I was talking about right? Those sources close to the Bionic were full of crap huh? how did that work out for you? :)

Your opinions keep getting in the way. Maybe you should have a talk with them.

I'm going with BMX on this one too. He's actually someone who would know firsthand. Either way though, it doesn't change the fact that we don't have a Bionic in our hands yet.

Sounds like heat issues might have been resolved, but there were other major issues that required a change in hardware. I'm sure there were some battery issues, seems to be a common problem with the LTE phones right now.

As I recall, the rumor back in February was that both the Atrix and the Bionic were having heat issues and they would both be delayed. The story started out with an obscure blog but became widely reported within a few days.

Motorola finally decided they needed to address the rumor and I believed they used their Twitter account to indicate that both the Atrix and the Bionic were still holding to their original launch dates.

My bet, FWIW, is the original rumor was true but it only applied to the Bionic. Motorola used the fact that there were no issues with the Atrix to infer that there never was a heat issue and everything was on-track with both phones.

Exactly my thought.

Ok Both of you guys got to stop the pissing contest!!!:) Both sources are very reliable!!! At first I did not want to believe anything from HF, but after going on there an doing research a lot of things the guys in question said were true...BMX is also a Great source he has always been spot on!!! I am still going to get The Bionic when it gets released unless something turns me off about it.

I have been cruising the Moto support forums for the Xoom. I have seen posts indicating the boot loader for those things are not locked.
I am seeing Moto board monitors telling them if it is shipped back unlocked it will be re flashed anyway.

My point being, if these are unlocked then perhaps.............?

VZW didn't insist on a signed bootloader for the Charge, and Moto now realizes people want an unlocked bootloader, so I see no reason for the Bionic to have a locked bootloader.

As I said in the past.. Moto and Verizon are working to ensure the best user experience and to be honest I haven't really wanted to be in on this due to my hate of blur ;) but just to get some hands on time I have requested a test unit and hopefully when I return from vacation I will get it..

After all the crap in the thunderbolt forums can we at least try to remain calm over here..
just think Moto and Verizon cared SO much about how you enjoy the device that they had to "tweak" it..

Thanks BMX all the info you give us is greatly appreciated...

Thanks panda, glad you decided to take a look at one for us! Can't wait till you get it, and what info you are able to share with us (specs, and maybe a few pics if that's allowed ) As always, the mere fact that you're involved here is greatly appreciated! It'd be nice to know for sure whether this new Bionic really is worth waiting for over the Charge, since I do want a device that will remain powerful as long as possible and run the newest software without issue.

But if you don't like Blur, maybe you can convince them to release this with an unlocked bootloader, so you don't have to worry about that once this comes out... ;)

First post, but I've been lurking for a while, since I've had my NE2 upgrade in March. I was really looking forward to this phone. I wish it would come out already. I'm on a BB Curve 8330, and yeah, it's been awful. I'm not sure how I feel about the Bolt's battery, and the Charge is fine but nothing stellar I don't think. I went to a vzw store and played with them, but I ended up liking the Dinc2 above both of them. :-\ I'm in an LTE area though, so since I have to go 2 years without an upgrade I'd like to get a 4G phone. I just wish some specifics about the Bionic would come out already, although I guess everyone does. Anyways, first time post, and just wanted to count my voice as one of the many here wishing some news would come out about this device. Also, my berry is denying, and I'm not sure I can make it through summer without pulling the trigger on something!! :p

If you ask me, I would say avoid the Dinc2. I tried one and am back on my OG Droid. I had an awful experience trying it.

The larger screen is all I liked about it. I'm not going to bash it here.

Oh, yeah, thanks. I will most likely get an LTE phone. I don't wanna still be on 3G in 2 years when I could be on 4G. And like I said, I live in a 4G area already. Just a question of what device. I was really excited for the Bionic, but it's really testing my patience when I would really love to unload my berry. Tick tock!! :p

I too have had the DInc 2 and still do. Have not had any issues at all with the phone, and until the X2 drops, it is the best 3G phone on VZW's network.

Well I got pently of time to wait for the bionic because my upgrade is in August and hopefully by then the bionic will be out.

the units are back in testers hands? That was a lot faster than I had expected. Hopefully you get one as soon as you're back from vacation. Wonder how long units usually stay with testers? Additionally, since the unit has been in testers hands[assuming too much hasn't changed], I wonder if it will be a shorter time than usual?

The fact that they are tells us that Motorola has known about this for a while and has been working their collective butts off to get the replacement hardware ready to go.
