Considering switch, Pros and Cons of various carriers?

Re: Service question

Sorry for the stupid question what does the 700 mhz band do and why do we need it.

The 700mhz frequencies AT&T and Verizon use is better for building penetration. T-mobile has some but has yet to roll it out on a national level. Some cities have it but not a lot thus a moot point imo unless you happen to live in those cities .

Re: Do you get good Service ?

Try the Open Signal app. It will rank the carriers wherever you are and go. :)

Love Open Signal but I now like Root Metrics better that I have down loaded their App to help them test. They also do their own testing twice a year not just use individuals running their App "Coverage Map". They go down to almost your street level. ( go to online "Coverage Map" then hit the GPS bullseye icon.)

Note there is almost no differences between T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon in the South Florida area where I live. My only issue with T-Mobile is the building signal penetration issue with T-Mobile higher Freq but that should be fixed when we get the new 700MHz Block A in 2015 provided you have a new phone that will support that Freq.

Do NOT just click on the city on this map. Please type the major city name in the "Jump to Report" box. Please make sure you look at the "2nd Half 2014" report. RootMetrics RootScore Reports

You do realize companies that can and will sue you for saying things such as that. By the way, what you said was complete BS....it's ok to have difference in opinions, but to flat out lie does people a disservice and makes you appear like complete fool.

All your response did was put the member on the defensive and set the stage for further drama in the thread.

Re: anyone test driving

Why not try it out yourself ...if I had a bad or good experience don't mean it's the same for you

Are you saying they have bad sound on calls on 2g?

I know you know I am.
I'm really impressed with the speeds.
Just trying to get past 2g at my house.

Re: anyone test driving

I agree with you that would be very frustrating especially if you do not have any Wi-Fi at the house. I have 3G with Verizon and it is slow on the rare occasion that I need to use it.u I am happy with Verizon but I'm thinking of trying others to support smaller companies such as T-Mobile. The only thing is I am on my mom's plan and paying for just my line after the contract is up on my line my bill will be $25 per month. Who knows though I may switch especially if I start using more data when I start traveling more for my work when I move in three years. I am going to test drive it either way and see what it is all about.

When I used WiFi calling it worked just fine.

Likewise. My voice quality is the same .. and HD voice still kicks in for T-Mobile to T-Mobile people. No one can ever tell if I am on WiFi calling or on cellular... and this is with my Note 4 and also my iPhone 6+.

Meh it sucks and I never used it because every time I sounded like I was under water . Everybody said that . T-mobile should focus on actually getting better service instead of selling us on crappy wifi calling ...

That sucks it didn't work for you. As I said for me it's flawless. I use it 100% of the time at home. No issues and 1.5k minutes used a month (on average) :).

Also disagree on the service part.. At least for my area. 30-50 average.. Spikes to 100+ .. Service everywhere I go.. For me it's great :). All for $50 a month as well.

Lol once I leave the city bye bye Crappy t-mobile service. Also 30mbps isn't as good as AT&T and verizon

I averaged 1.5k minutes calling t-mobile customer service

Yeah -- depends on area. When I leave the city I keep my service. I mainly only go to Orlando .. other places I plan ahead of time but I don't travel that often to those places so works out.

30 Mbps actually is way faster than AT&T and Verizon here .. Again .. Depends on area. Don't forget it isn't the same everywhere.. for anyone :).

Re: Do you get good Service ?

Just got 40 down on T-Mo
Same place got 15 with Verizon

Re: Do you get good Service ?

It's not about speed....it's about latency

Posted via the Android Central App

Oh sorry guess I should have mentioned that. It usually is anywhere from 30-60. I have seen 80 sometimes but it isn't as common.

Below is my 108 test -- 40 latency .
