Re: Drew's CyanogenMod Hacking thread (current build: 08/01/2011)

[WARN]Unstable Build!

The 08/01/2011 build (Build ID DREW-003) is HIGHLY unstable. Things may not work correctly or even at all (specifically PRL/Profile updates and Wifi Tethering). This was mainly caused by a rushed release and not taking enough time to properly test EVERYTHING, including things that I understandably assumed still worked. I apologize for any inconvenience.

A more stable build (Build ID DREW-002) can be downloaded from the front page of this thread. In the near future there will be two build types, stable and unstable. Again, I apologize for any inconvenience.[/WARN]

Frankly the BTooth working is totally worth missing out on Wifi tethering for now. =P

Bluetooth headsets do not work in DREW-002. A stable build (with working bluetooth and wifi tethering will be released tomorrow if not later tonight (ETA ~4 hours if later tonight).

EDIT: Misread your post. But I will still be releasing a stable build soon.

Re: Drew's CyanogenMod Hacking thread (current build: 08/01/2011)

You can flash over, although its recommended that you wipe data/cache in recovery before flashing.

Re: Drew's CyanogenMod Hacking thread (current build: 08/01/2011)

Aye drew. Love this rom/kernal combo you got going here. Great job on the Bluetooth too. Main reason I haven't bee. Using cm7 builds.

Sent from my redux/cm7 optimus.

Re: Drew's CyanogenMod Hacking thread (current build: 08/01/2011)

Thanks again, for the updates. I keep loving this Rom more and more.

One question, is anybody elses Wifi keep resetting/restarting every 3 minutes or so? Is this a known issue? When I am at home/work I leave my WiFi on and I keep noticing that every 3 minutes my WiFi disconnects then reconnects itself.

I have checked under WIfi sleep policy and I have it set to never sleep, but it still continues to disconnect/reconnect itself

Re: Drew's CyanogenMod Hacking thread (current build: 07/27/2011)

Sorry my post was confusing, I'm new to Android, I'll try to clarify:

I haven't installed any backup apps, all apps were installed fresh.

I'm running a script on Drew's ROM to make it compatible with my Optimus V, I guess you could consider it a custom ROM? I flash Drew's ROM, gapps then Sprint-to-OV_ath3nos_signed.zip .

I have not found a way to install Swype Beta but I found a workaround for it by reinstalling the stock Swype which came with the phone.

The problems I was asking for help on were:

a) You said, " ... and then stumbled upon where the setting was to switch it from "Android Keyboard" to "Swype" cause it's been removed from the "Language and Keyboard" menu. "

Where did you find the setting to switch keyboards? Both Swype and Android keyboards are missing check boxes for me under the Language and Keyboard menu.

b) Does anyone have trouble using Thick Buttons keyboard? (This is the only keyboard I installed that actually does have a check box but the keyboard itself doesn't work properly)

c) Is anyone getting "The application Settings (process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly." and having to force close? I get this from a few different places in the settings menu such as trying to change the screen brightness

If I'm the only one experiencing these problems I can assume that Sprint-to-OV_ath3nos script is responsible and seek further help in the [ROM-ish] OV Port of ath3nos's Unofficial CM7 (Gingerbread) thread.

Thanks-

Here's the video I had made when I stumbled upon the setting I had originally overlooked:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1iDdid2RR4

b) no, I don't use that
c) i'm assuming that's something related to you getting this to work with your V but that's just a guess

Hope this helps.
If it does, kindly click "Thanks" :]

Re: Drew's CyanogenMod Hacking thread (current build: 08/01/2011)

Yucky, this might be an issue with the IHO repository. I didn't change anything in the Wifi tether code.

I haven't changed anything there either. Might be a CM issue, potentially related to the 2.3.5 merge.

Thanks for the reply.

So I'm not the only one missing the check box for the Android keyboard. Good to know.

I'm going to wait to flash the next stable version before messing with the keyboard settings, I'm satisfied having Swype working for now.

+1 for wanting the handset mic working while it's plugged into external speakers.

-Thanks

MybackUp Pro from market sez:
Backup (with schedule option) to our online secure servers, or SD card, your Applications, Photos, Contacts, Call log, Browser Bookmarks, SMS (text messages), MMS, Calendar, System Settings, Home Screens (including shortcut positions), Alarms, Dictionary, Music Playlists, and more..

Just got it... So we shall see... ;)

You're welcome.

I wasn't necessarily saying you caused the wifi tether issues. It certainly could be a pure CM issue. I'll do some digging around with that.

Also yes, a majority of the credit for these CM7 builds is yours but you can't take ALL the credit because I've been changing things and experimenting ;)

Nice of you to stick your head in here. :p
I don't think most people understand the totality of the effort involved in making a rom like this for a phone. I'm sure I don't even fully understand either. I think its great for you to be active in here as well.

I haven't experienced a wifi issue running the 002 build. which is also 2.3.5.

Much credit is due to both of you. I was pushing for a cm7 port after running aospCMOD for the OV and seeing how advanced it was. I can't believe it actually came about. I hope to see both of you continue to support this.

Could be one of my hacks that caused the breakage. I'm working on a stable build at this very moment, should be releasing later today.

And you're like the bipartisan Gang of Six keeping things civil and organized. HAR HAR HAR HAR!

Sorry, I had to. It was too funny.
