Re: Drew's CM7 builds (stable: 08/09/2011 | experimental: 08/08/2

A few bugs reports on Stable 7.1.0.2:

1. When I first flashed the ROM my market said it was downloading all the apps I had installed before the flash. Note I did do a full wipe

possibly the values you chose when you signed into your phone for the first time? there is a check box for restore and check box for allowing google to backup passwords, settings, apps? and stuff.

If you allow it to restore, it'll restore a lot of settings including wifi passwords, and it seemed to do my wallpaper too...

(I tried this a couple of times, but i wasn't sure about it, so i disabled it on the last few flashes i've done.)

2. Camera cannot connect, it happens every once in a while, a reboot temp fixes it.

3. I can no longer pair my phone with my PC, which means I have to send pictures to myself in an email to get them off my phone (unless I am unlazy and use the USB cable). I haven't checked to see if my bluetooth pairs anything else yet, I test my headset and my brothers phone.

You will need to reflash from a fresh wipe. After you wipe dalvik, cache, and system, flash this: http://db.tt/SI1Vwx2 then flash the ROM and then gapps and anything else you want to flash. This will properly wipe the system so that you don't experience anymore weird issues as you are experiencing.

Pro tip: Custom Recovery doesn't properly clear the system files and leaves leftover files that cause glitches and unexplained issues. Flashing this file fixes that. ;)

Actually I've been using that file ever since I first flashed the ath3nos builds, glad to know I've been doing it right. Maybe I forgot to flash it before I installed the stable, I don't think I missed it but I guess there's the possibility. I'll probably do a fresh wipe again when I get unlazy, just to check. Either way this ROM is excellent.

I was trying to take pictures today and every once in a while, my phone would just reset as soon as I hit the button to take. Is there something I can do to fix this? Any help would be appreciated!

Hi guys.. I have no idea exactly how I did it but I put this on my phone and it scared the crap out of me! lol. I would MUCH prefer to do OTA updates from now on but I have no idea how to go about doing that. I see mention to it... but no information on HOW to do it. Thanks.

Menu/settings/about phone/Rom updates-------Hit the menu button, Click 'check now'. Select the ROM you would like. Click 'download'. Click 'accept' to install.

You MUST be running a version of the rom that has this enabled.

Good luck!

Hmm... if I go into "settings" and "about phone" I see no option for "Rom updates". Maybe I do not have the right version? I have v.7-04282011-nightly-thunder-xionia. (But I feel like I d/l it from this link just a few days ago so I thought it was the most recent)

So it is a feature built right into this Rom? I don't need another program? I have Rom Manager installed but that gives me nothing either and as they say NOT to use that program on the Optimus S... I would not use it anyway.

OK so I am going to do this all again with the LATEST version! :) I should be ok to just install this right? And do I need to worry about installing a kernel (I have 2.6.32.33_xionia_014)? I am not really sure why I would want to... or even how to know if that kernel worked with this Mod. And should I remover Rom manger all together? Or is it OK to use once I have this Rom on my phone?

Yeah, slow down and read a few of the stickies on top of this forum. Rom manager will not have this Rom. Best if you install one of the recoveries supported here like Xionia or ThunderC. http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg...optimus-s-recoveries-roms-kernels-themes.html This comes with a kernal already. The latest is Experimental Ex-006 CyanogenMod-7.1.0.1.6 and Stable-002 CyanogenMod-7.1.0.2, get the download links in the second post.

Then you can follow the instructions in the first few posts of this thread.:

Installation Instructions:
1) Download ROM and Google Apps from links above. DO NOT EXTRACT, DO NOT RENAME!
2) Place ROM and Google Apps (and kernel if you downloaded it) on your sdcard.
3) Perform a FULL data/cache wipe from recovery mode. (MUST HAVE CUSTOM RECOVERY)
4) Wipe (or format) /boot and /system from the "mounts and storage" menu in recovery mode.
5) Flash ROM using the "install zip from sdcard" option in recovery mode.
6) Flash Gapps in the same fashion.
7) Reboot

Thank you... and I had Rom Manger BEFORE I put this Rom on my phone... I just wanted to make sure I still couldn't use it even after installing this Rom. (for backups and stuff).
So I get that I am going to have to update to the newest Rom but I did notice while writing this that I have Xionia Kernel 014. And it looks like I should only have Xionia Kernel 013. Should I replace 14 with 13? Looks like 14 may be only for the Optimus V? Or am I ok to keep it seeing as how it worked the first time?

that should be my last question. Thank you! :)

Re: Drew's CM7 builds (stable: 08/09/2011 | experimental: 08/08/2

YOu will be fine just flashing the either the stable or experimental Rom if your phone is the Optimus S, Optimus V has a few extra files you need flash to make it work. Make sure you do all the needed data wipes in recovery. It comes with a newer kernal and will over write what you have.

The last time I rooted and installed a custom rom, my phone would crash whenever I ran google sky map.

I'm thinking of trying this rom but wonder if other people have been seeing crashes or other instability.

most of the time random reboots are caused by overclocking too high. i believe wireless tether may cause a reboot the first time it's used....hadn't noticed anything about that being fixed....and your mileage may vary anyway.

Re: Drew's CM7 builds (stable: 08/09/2011 | experimental: 08/08/2

I am running the latest experimental version of drew's cm7! and it is fast and pretty stable. And will tell you that once flashed the update process works great:) and if you do not feel comfortable with the experimental version, flash the stable version of drewscm7!!! By the sound of it your rooted and have custom recovery! So dl the files, place on root of SD card. Boot into recovery and nand backup. Then do a full wipe. Install your files and reboot!!!! And enjoy cm7 :)

Re: Drew's CM7 builds (stable: 08/09/2011 | experimental: 08/08/2

I've tried some of the CM7 themes, however.....my ADW Launcher icons got changed by the Optimus 2X theme and any other theme I change to too, the dock icons do not change, is there an easy way to reset it?

Re: Drew's CM7 builds (stable: 08/09/2011 | experimental: 08/08/2

Just flashed this a couple days ago and i have to say its awesome! much more options! its been very stable for me so far. flashed the 7.1.0.2 stable version btw

Battery life is much improved over other roms, and i feel that it charges faster?

Its much faster than other roms ive tried as well. I'm OC'ed at 787mhz. anything higher usually gets unstable for me.

Anyway, one thing ive noticed is when receiving calls, the slider/answer call thing blocks the contact phone number info and a little bit of the photo. i dont know if this has been asked before so sorry if it has :)

Reset your phone after each time you change themes. Usually that lets the new theme fully install and should take care of your problem.

I've been running this ROM since the first stable version and have never had this problem...

I've noticed that too, but not 100% sure if it's from the theme I'm using or a stock issue.

Re: Drew's CM7 builds (stable: 08/09/2011 | experimental: 08/08/2

Rebooting issue
Stable 08/09/2011 version (2)
I am pretty new to CM7 came from reborn 2.2.4
But today I had an issue and am hoping for someone to help me with.

This is all the details I have , most probably have nothing to do with the issue.

After installing some market updates,
google maps, wireless tether apps. etc.
I changed settings to report anonymous statistics on
And changed settings to to allow application moving to on
Install location to external

in a few minutes from then the phone crashes and restarts.
I thought no big deal about it and thought it may of been a settings thing.

I now have an issue with a constant cycle of this
Phone crashes and restarts
SD card Apps do not load for a while (sometimes do)
External apps load then unload themselves,
phone crashes and restarts.
Sometimes the external apps load sometimes they go on and off.
ADW launcher (standalone) almost always needs force close or wait.
Then crashes.

Here is what I have tried so far.
Clear Dalvik,
Clear Cache,
Dirty Flash Rom
Reflash Gapps

There are a few things that I find odd too
When power off , it restarts instead of shutting phone off.
When taking battery out and plugging phone in (with Battery) it boots up phone.
It always says I have one voice mail and one email when restarting phone ( Even though it is false)

If there is anything I am missing or any help that people can give it would be greatly appreciated.

Right now I am watching external apps finally load and see the CM7 splash screen.
