Yeah, but they are all crap! LOL. Seriously, the theme team that makes the ReBorn themes are the best and nothing compares. I've tried a bunch and nothing even looks as good as the Reouched theme and I like having Lloyd on the notification pulldown.

I've got a nandroid waiting...........

Yes I can totally see why you would not want to install... Theme is everything. And the CM7 Stock rom... "works".

I wouldn't let a theme hold you back.
People work hard on custom Roms and try there best at what they give out for FREE.
Sometimes time is an issue with Themes and updates.
I am sure time will make a difference with themes. Just don't let you hold that back.

I agree. To not flash this rom for the sole reason that you don't like the themes is asinine. This is definitely the best rom for the Optimus.

is it just me, or the stock keyboard is not multitouch?

Ha.....I'm back. Gotta love nandroids. My ADW launcher is messing up though. It doesn't always launch the shortcut. Messaging was opening up contacts....wierdness.
Launcher pro!

While I agree that this is by far the best ROM for the Optimus, if it looked crappy, I would use the second best.

I want performance, power, speed and aesthetics. I will use the ROM and/or theme combination that gives it all to me, not just the most powerful or just the fastest or just the one that looks the best.

To be fair, I will say that I detested the way this ROM's stock theme looked. But I actively searched for a way to make it look much better (and I have made it look much better).

If someone dropped a 454 into a Ford Pinto, it would make it a very, very powerful car. But I wouldn't want it because, well, it looks like a Pinto!!! You may win races in the thing, but your friends would still laugh at you.

I understand where your coming from. I don't much care for the stock 'theme' either. I'm not partial to green and orange.

I have a suggestion for you though. Not only are there plenty of themes in the market for CM7 theme changer, but it there is also the option of creating your own theme. If you have a linux box it is very easy. However, you can theme on windows as well. You just need to get some tools to get started.

If you're interested in making your own theme I would suggest starting here. It's a great resource to get started with. Also, the .9.png's can be difficult at first to work with, but you get used to it very quickly. There are other sources that were designed for themes outside of the theme chooser which specify files that need to be edited in order to change things like font color and progress bar color. It would be great to see some new themes and I know the Theme Team is pumping some out, but I think most of those are for 2.2 ROMs. Try your hand at it and see what you think. You may be surprised at what you can accomplish.

Turn that Pinto into a Camero (or whatever you want) that can handle that 454 and look great at the same time.

I know the ReBorn theme team will make me so happy when ReTouched is ported over.

I'm glad you posted that link. I've been debating on whether or not I wanted to start dabbling in themes or maybe play with a kernel. And I just happen to have the Wubi version of Kububtu loaded on my windows box...;) Someday, I'll be able to finish something that I start (RL is a ***** and takes up too much of my tinkering and EVE Online time). I tend to read everything on my project, make plans to implement, then the kid needs to go shopping, or the lawn needs to be mowed or <shudder> I have to go to work.

My two projects at the moment are getting a 3yr old Toshiba laptop I paid $25 for, working and getting swap to work on Drew's CM7.

I'm having better luck with the laptop...

I can't send pics but I can received them. wtf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!lmao

Couple things about swap in Android.

1) As far as the system being able to USE a swap partition natively, that's a kernel configuration and has nothing to do with any specific ROM.

2) You CAN create a swap partition on the SD card and use it (provided the kernel supports it), but it will be EXTREMELY slow and will trash your SD card faster than you can even imagine.

3) There is an app called Swapper that can be used to accomplish this task regardless of the kernel supporting it. Again, it will shorten your SD card lifespan tenfold.

4) For the above 2 reasons, I will not enable swap in the XioniaRedux kernel. Period. If you want to trash your SD card that is entirely up to you.

I know this isn't what you wanted to hear, but I'm telling you what I know.

For all of you guys wanting to change the wake buttons...

There have been many requests by people to change which keys wake the phone. Mainly, to have it function like Reborn where only the Power key wakes the phone. You're going to need a file manager where you can edit text in system files, like Root Explorer.

Go to your file manager, then: system / usr / keylayout
Open thunder_keypad.kl in a text editor.

You only need to change the following keys, this is how they are set up when you open up the file:
key 158 BACK WAKE_DROPPED
key 230 HOME WAKE
key 229 MENU WAKE_DROPPED
key 139 MENU WAKE_DROPPED
key 102 HOME WAKE
key 217 SEARCH WAKE_DROPPED

Edit the above keys to match how they are changed below. All you are doing is deleting either "WAKE", or "WAKE_DROPPED". It's that easy.
key 158 BACK
key 230 HOME
key 229 MENU
key 139 MENU
key 102 HOME
key 217 SEARCH

Save the file. Reboot, enjoy

I know this isn't what you wanted to hear, but I'm telling you what I know.

Actually, hearing anything about swap and our kernel is something I want to hear. And because you said something about this kernel not supporting swap (I already knew it trashed the sd, but where's the fun in not trying?), I'm going to leave it alone.
