Re: Drew's CM7 builds (stable: 08/09/2011 | experimental: 08/08/2

Each of the apps you listed (with the exception of Gmail) have the option to set their individual notifications. For example.

While using the Messenger app, and not inside a threaded message, hit Menu>Settings>Notification Ringtone.

The default email app has this as well. Open the email app, hit Menu>Account Settings then scroll down to notifications. You can then choose a custom ringtone.

If you use Google Talk on your phone, this also has an option for custom ringtones, and is accessible from the same methods listed above.

As stated I could not find this option for Gmail.

See that under my name? I HAD those options when I was running stock..as everyone else does that runs stock..but the 2nd line under my nick says ROM/Kernel: CM7
On CM7.1.0.2 with drews 7272011 kernel, I don't have the option.

Odd. I was pretty sure I still had those options when I was running CM7. but I could be very wrong. In this case I guess I cannot help unfortunately.

Yeah, I looked all over the settings and don't have but one option for Notification tone...the option isn't in email or sms setting menus.

Re: Drew's CM7 builds (stable: 08/09/2011 | experimental: 08/08/2

I have the tone I want for SMS set already..
I need something other than that same tone for Gmail and Email...there's no way to set those two apart. SMS has the option to set the tone, GMail and email follow the SMS rule.

Edit:
I found a way to do regular email as a different one...

Gmail and SMS are the same and I can't change Gmail to a different tone.

Under settings in Gmail, after you select your account. Scroll all the way to the bottom and select "labels to notify ",there you can choose a Gmail ringtone.

Also under SMS, there are notification settings.

But it could be that cm7 added those after drew's builds.

Can you tell me a good one that allows this? Thanks

Got behind on this thread... I use handcent messaging app. You already figured out the default email app allows the ringtone to be changed. Now what I suggest is to change the default notification sound (which gmail should follow) then change the others from the respective app.

I think some of the confusion could be because this was a feature added in Gmail 2.3.5. Is that the version that you are working with?

Has anyone found a way to disable receiving two notifications for a voicemail with the stock apps? I don't want a text alert along with the regular voicemail notification.

Hello to everyone and thanks Drew for the hard work you have put into it. I have a question? I just Flashed the Rom today i have one bug, The GPS is buggy. It works then it doesnt. It locks up. Also i noticed the gps icon comes on and stays on randomly when i turn on my phone. Any help i would appreciate. Thanks im at wits end with fixing it and looked on here but didnt find a fix. Is there a driver i can install or something?

Re: Drew's CM7 builds (stable: 08/09/2011 | experimental: 08/08/2

My thoughts are that the gps icon is coming on as you have an app that syncs with your location (like a weather app ect). Try checking apps to check for using location and frequency. Also, I never really have issues with gps accuracy, though I did at first (due to improper wipe). Did you do a proper wipe before flashing? I always wipe data/cache, wipe dalvik, format system (under mounts and storage), and flash the debug zip before any new flash of any rom.

Re: Drew's CM7 builds (stable: 08/09/2011 | experimental: 08/08/2

I have found that GPS does not work correctly if you turn it on AFTER booting. If you reboot with it already on, then it seems to function. I have also noticed that it loses lock much more with Drew's CM7 builds than with 2.2x based ROMs, but as long as I'm moving and have the phone in a good spot near the windshield, it seems to work fine.

WOW! that makes sense. I have never had GPS problems with CM7 but I always leave my GPS on.

A few times I've had to kill apps that were misbehaving (use the GPS in the background) otherwise the GPS icon goes away when Maps is closed so I figured that the GPS radio is not really using much power.

I always wipe data and delv but you know what i might be guilty of rushing and went from the stock rom to activate the device and went to install this rom without wiping. I know my daughter has thi phone and i rooted it and installed this rom with no issues. Thanks i will do a complete wipe and fresh install.

I flashed Drew's CM7 stable build but bluetooth headset is not recognized and cannot be paired. Does anyone have the same issue? Is this a known issue? Any suggestion is greatly appreciated!!!!

Bluetooth works on this rom. I use it everyday. I use 2 different headsets and it syncs with the car flawlessly.

sent from my CM7 gingerbread Optimus S

Always happy to help, hit that thanks button if I did!

Try going to recovery and wiping everything again then flash the debug zip, then flash the rom... Should clear up any issues...
