Essential Order and Shipping Thread

I can guarantee you Apple doesn't care one bit about essential as of now
LOL I know. 100% sarcasm intended. It's either make light of the situation or complain... and complaining won't speed things up.

Besides, at least we're getting them. If we were overseas we'd still be waiting or paying a premium to get one imported.

Haha yeah.. we will never know why they are delaying. I have very low hopes of them shipping this week. For now I'm keeping myself busy with Z2 force and the mods I got. Got a killer deal on Z2 force, $360 (50% off) so couldn't resist. First time with the mods and nice idea. JBL sound boost mod is great, interesting to see what all mods essential will get in the near future.

Same thought here. Shipping tonight/tomorrow is still possible but I'm expecting delivery next week regardless. It sucks but I have plenty to keep me occupied in the meantime.

Speaking of Moto mods, I need to find a decent DAC/amp to go with the PH-1 for travel. That will solve half of my needs for a 3.5mm jack.
 
Im sick and tired of getting 'Will ship soon' emails.
I ordered on the 16th, I spoke to Essential support on Tuesday 22nd who told me 'orders will start shipping from Tomorrow'
Today, Thursday 24th, I have been given the 'will begin to ship this week' generic email from 3 different support staff.
Its really p1ss poor to tell people it will ship within 7 days if they order now, happily take their money (yes, the full amount has gone from my bank account) and have not apologised that their initial 7 day promise has been and gone... and right now they cant be anymore specific than 'will begin shipping...'
It would take 1 minute for them to draft a generic 'we are sorry, we wont meet the 7 day window, we will ship as soon as possible' email. Saying nothing to people who have backed you and have ordered early, thats just crap customer support.
 
And its so frustrating that their website does NOTHING when you click track order. It doesnt even tell you it hasnt shipped yet (which we know it hasnt, but it would be nice to have it confirmed either way - thats the whole point of a Track Order option!!!)
 
Been following the thread, not because I have a pre-order, but because I want you guys to get your phones so you can start posting reviews. Anyway, a few observations from an outsider:

1-The delays suck, I know how it feels, but it happens to every company. Even the most established company has these same delays.

2-The language from customer service is telling. Clearly, like everyone else, they are outsourcing it and you are just being fed a script. No actual information is available.

3-My biggest concern is the inability to cancel the order. That is absolute BS. I don't think I've ever seen or heard of that before.

Anyway, good luck, as long as this phone doesn't randomly burst into flames, you'll be ahead of Samsung!

That's probably tied to fulfillment being outsourced, most likely through Foxconn in China where they're being made. The timezone and sheer volume of orders likely makes the whole thing difficult. Just my speculation having been in a similar role before.

I have the exact same setup. I got my son a Z2 Play with the gamepad, too. I would probably cancel the Essential if that was an option, but I will give it a try and send it back if I don't like it.

You are right. They took your money already? That is pretty shocking. How can they take your money and not ship. That is sort of tantamount to theft.
 
That and one plus has the same kind of customer support. I bought a few phones from them also and their customer support is a joke to. Had the same type of cancel issue with them.

A bit melodramatic, no?

Theft would require them to take money and never ship. It's too soon for that scenario. Exactly when a card gets charged depends on both the bank and when a reseller requests the funds. Resellers have to charge cards before shipping, sometimes a day or two before. Amazon is no different. If cards are being charged then shipments will happen soon.
 
BGR is a joke. No one takes them seriously.

It's hilarious that they were denied a phone for review. That's evidence right there.
 
Lol they look so pissed off that they didn't provide review phones. Why can't they buy the phone themselves and wait if they really wanted it. These tech bloggers are used to getting free stuff and don't do honest reviews like we real users who pay our own money do. This article is a joke and a disgraceful from bgr. Just salty that they didn't get a phone !!!
 
I thought the review was quite entertaining . . . I might disagree with BGR if my handset had been shipped. But with each hour that passes I feel like Jonathan Geller has Andy Rubin's number . . . Essential Phone doesn't exist . . . if it does . . . where is it . . . ?
 
In what world do you live in if you think EVERY company misses ship dates, well in essential case every date. Microsoft, nokia, oneplus, htc, apple, LG.... hmm they ship phones and it gets to you early or on time.... you also say delays....is there a press release? because i have heard nothing of a delay, and they already charged me for my phone, it is extremely rare for anyone to so call delay a phone after they charge you, and after sending you a email saying your phone is built and will ship within 7 days.
Nonsense excuses that are not reality, are why companies do it, instead of accountability....you give crazy example that makes no sense.... especially from a company headed by the father of android, this is not new territory for him. And lastly the last major samsung phone was the galaxy s8, so the burst into flame thing is kinda old and also makes no sense....do you work for Essential? what a nonsense excuse.

Apologist for this nonsense, i hear people who probably lie and say they have been in similar roles, but i have never had a company tell me ill get my phone or my ship date be within 7 days, and all of a sudden they go silent, i get charged, and they miss the suppsed date.... hmmm i have had nokia, microsoft, apple, samdung, htc, lg, and oneplus, and others....and while they do stupid stuff like a lottery to buy the phone, i have never seen a flagship phone be a mystery. But with people like you making excuses, no wonder they feel comfortable doing this nonsense.
