1. I have the S6 Active and agree that this lack of updates is very frustrating. I even can put up with the slight lag that I have seen on the phone --amazing given the cpu and 3gb of ram! Also, I have and have used package disabler as well –frankly, I can manually disable most of the packages myself, so it was not so great, still I did get it and use it! Not the same as rooting. Less flexible.
2. In my case, there is another factor. I also had a voice problem with my Galaxy S6 Active: I would call ground phones and they could not hear me –or would state that my voice sounded like I was under water. Replaced the phone and am checking to see if the problem repeats.
3. However, I am still quite upset that the S5 Active has 5.1.1 and we S6 Acitve owners still do not! It puzzles me –what is AT&T thinking?
4. While I also noted that press has stated that Active S6 is on the list to get 6.0/Marshmallow, I would not count on that happening before mid-first quarter 2016. It does not help that AT&T makes no mention of this –or provides zero milestones for Galaxy S6 Active owners! ;-(
5. Frustrated! Between the lack of updates, the locked bootloader (ok, I do like rooting!), and the voice call problems I’ve experienced, I am one problem away from dumping AT&T and switching to Project Fi. Not something I do lightly since I have had AT&T for at least 11 years.
6. I’ve already secured my Project Fi invite (takes about a week); and if I have any more voice call issues, I will spring for a Nexus 5X, sell my S6 on ebay, and cancel AT&T.
7. As much as I liked their service, it’s getting problematic. No phone updates for the S6 Active plus strange voice call issues, -- I did not buy the S6 active to have difficulties in calls! Kind of odd since I had zero issues on my S2 and then on my S4!
