How Long Is HTC Going To Keep Early Upgraders Hanging?

Jerzyiroc please do.....its almost as if we are being punished for wanting a upgrade they promoted.

Dude, they didn't promote it, and you know it. You couldn't wait a couple of days, and this is your reward. It's called karma. :)

I could care less if they never fix it. I have 2.2 and manually placed it on my phone. I have flash 10.1 and not a single issue. I am perfectly happy with the phone. AND it aint KARMA. :)~

I still think it's your fault for downloading a leaked version of the update and placing it on your phone.

It's already been said they're going to tend to it... but I don't think it's their fault.

just got off with another sprint repair center and they told me that they were unable to role my evo back to 2.1 so i can update.. 2 store in nyc and nothing

I installed the leaked version, knowing full well that it was not the official, approved version. I took my chances. I don‘t know how it could have been made more clear that this was not the official OTA version. Engadget may have reported that it was identical, but HTC nor Sprint made a statement to use this version if you want to be an early adopter.

It was a leaked version, and we all knew it. (For the record, mine works like a champ, as most folks apparently are reporting as well.)

Lol dude calm down my goodness... They are working on it and it is your fault you decided to go and update that version manually... Sprint reps told everyone that manual update was pushed back and there were a million reports that the version on HTC's website was not official.. The threads are still on here go and read them... Dont be mad, be patient.. Thats what got u in the situation in the first place.. Being impatient..

I can say for a fact that Sprint Reps did say that a Manual update was out on friday i can say this for a FACT. If you called into tech support they even said it was out so you saying that is incorrect.

WRONG! Sprint listed the .3 version, on their website, as the current version on 7/30. In fact, it STILL lists it as the current version, they just changed the release date:
Support - Article

When you download the update from an HTC site, and the Sprint website says that it's the new and current version (.3), there is no reason to believe it's NOT official.

Ok just got off the phone with HTC. I recorded a video of the convo but it's almost a GB and I don't know how I can post it here.... Anyway, the tech support dude first said that we would have to take it to a Sprint store so they can roll it back and install the official version. After a facepalm and informing the tech that the 4 Sprint tech I spoke to today were clueless and told me it's not possible to do it, he double checked and turns out there will in fact be a second OTA update for those that have the leaked version. He said it should be rolling out by the end of the week. If anyone wants to hear the convo for "proof" or w/e just tell me how to post it and I'll do it.

I hope the rep knew what he was talking about...

And I hope that the update gets leaked so I can install it early! :p

I don't agree. Official updates come OTA. I remember tracking the attempted installs here last friday, with people figuring out steps like "hold down the volume up key while hitting the power button", and I think it's pretty clear that's not official.

Not all official updates come OTA. The Official Hero 2.1 update was done by downloading the ROM....

I called three more times and spoke to three other reps just be to sure and they all said the same thing. Can't be too sure with those people lol..

Having been a blackberry user for 5 years, I'm used to downloading and installing my own updates. Doesn't seem "unofficial" to me at all.

Okay, but you're not using a blackberry. Friday's leak was not official. End of story.

[FIX] for Leaked Froyo now available!

Original Source: leaked Froyo update fix. - PPCGeeks

An Official Fix is now currently available for those that applied the leaked Froyo update (3.26.651.3).

Confirmed, just now got off the phone with a third party Sprint Repair Center in Downtown Miami, she checked her email just now and confirmed. She is currently downloading the "fix" and will call me back when she has it, for me to bring my phone for her to apply it.

NOTE: She didn't know about it, until i mentioned it to her. YMMV
