In screen Fingerprint scanner results

So far my fingerprint sensor is working fine, no issues. I haven't kept track of a percentage, my phone stays unlocked most of the time with my Android watch as a trusted device. But overall the in screen scanner seems fast and accurate.

Awesome I'll do that too. How are you doing with the battery life? Getting through the day?
Getting there

Pixel 6 Pro. Came from an S21. Using film screen protector.

The fingerprint sensor is the only let down for me on this device. Unfortunately, it's a major part of the phone. It often doesn't recognize my finger on the first try. It is a bit slow to respond in general. I just turned on touch sensitivity so I'll see if that helps.

There are a lot of tempered glass protectors for the regular 6. I can't find any on Amazon for the 6 Pro (curved screen).

I am trying to train myself to hold my finger on the scanner just a fraction of a second longer than I did on the S21. Improves success rate.

One thing that would be helpful is if the fingerprint symbol remained on screen along with the time and allow me to put my finger on it from the lock screen like the S21 does.

So I picked up a Pixel 6 and I have to say that the fingerprint sensor is somewhere between the S20 and S21 in terms of quality. It works 99% of the time, it's definitely reliable. The same couldn't be said of the S20. The S21 is a touch faster, but the sensor on the Pixel 6 is far better than I expected based on reviews.

It is a non-issue.

Register the same print twice. I'm firmly happy with the sensor quality because I was expecting an abomination. Good job Google. Well rounded product at this price.

Are you guys not seeing the fingerprint on AOD or Lockscreen ?

I see it but it vanishes. My phone is right next to me on the table, it's showing time and a few notifications - the fingerprint sensor is not showing. Sometimes, it doesn't wake when I pick it up either to show me the fingerprint sensor.

Hmmm I have to do more testing.. I always see it...

Ok so not stellar but not bad either. I thought it'd be worse!
It was worse. And I have it on 4G not 5G cos I have no 5G near me in the UK. I did the following trick and it did improve the battery life. A little tip from when I was doing the android 12 beta.

Go to Settings-apps-Android System Webview-storage-clear data. Then force stop. Reboot and for some reason this improves the battery life in Android 12. Did after every beta update when my battery level dropped on my 4a 5G and it went right back up.

It won't hurt your device but it may improve things. So worth a try.

My fingerprint sensor logo stays on the screen.

Just now - showing the full size digital clock on lock screen - no fingerprint indicator.

I woke it up and the fingerprint sensor appeared along with my home screen. Logged in with my fingerprint. Clicked a few things. Hit the power button to lock.

Now it's showing the full size clock like before but it HAS the fingerprint sensor indicator on this time. ????

Wait... I got a notification so it is now showing the small clock... no fingerprint indicator, it's blank.

I've given it a try, I will be interested to see if this works. I wasn't really dissatisfied with my battery life anyway, but if it improves it I won't be unhappy. Any idea why this works?

OK. I have AOD turned off.

I believe I have worked out how to make the fps better. I re scanned my thumbs on an angle as for me when when I rest my finger on the fps I tend to do it on angle instead of flat. Yes it's still slow but Now it works 95% of the time.

At 1st set up of the fps while the phone was restoring, it was not working very well. After restoring apps from my S21, I reentered my fingerprints and it is fine. I also did the re-entry after I took the system update.
Phone overall seems cooler and smoother after the update as well.

Fingerprint scanner is horrible on my pixel 6 pro. I have to think google released this phone in a not ready state. If they do not resolve this with some sort of software fix (if thats possible) this phone is junk.

What phone were you coming from? If it was one with a capacitive or ultrasonic FPS, that it would be slower and/or less accurate isn't surprising. If it was one which likewise had an optical FPS, that's more disturbing.

There a quite a few phones out there with optical underscreen scanners that are better than the one on the Pixel 6 models.

On my Pixel 6 the scanner was OK until I put a screen protector on, now the hit rate is around 75%.
