"Jerky" scrolling with Froyo

Its hard to tell if the "jerkyness" is happening on your phone with the compression that YouTube does; so its more so just listening to your impression of it.

You should be able to make that out pretty good too lol. Make sure you watch it at 360p instead of 240. Also, please do exactly as I said above before you do the DI01 route. I'll shoot another video in HD.

I'm on it. I'm going to get that smooth scrolling goodness if it takes all weekend!

I dug out my Env Touch and have it on the charger just in case.... :D

Wow, if you think your jerkyness is that bad after going through the procedure, then I would say you have a serious hardware issue that needs to be addressed. The HD YouTube version is being processed as we speak, but even the smaller one should have been enough to show that what you describe is very much the opposite of what I was demonstrating.

Well, the kids are up from their naps so I'm going to have to wait a few hours before I can finish this. I'll post back with my results.

I have the old phone ready in case I completely screw up my Fascinate -- always good to have a backup plan.

Nice video Cory. Can't tell if you experience any stutter, but your comments suggest not. I believe I followed the same upgrade path as you. The first flash to EB01, I restored apps throught Titanium. Thinking that was the issue, I reflashed EB01 (wiped data) and manually installed my apps. I still see the micro-stutter. Restoring through Titanium does cause FC loops. That's annoying.

Like Blue I'm going to tinker until I am satisfied. Thanks again for the video.

You must share the link to that wallpaper you disply.

When using titanium do missing apps +data.....system data and all apps cause conflict

Just for kicks, I tested scrolling in my app drawer, contacts, Root Explorer, and Titanium Backup. The only place I saw any type of stutter whatsoever was in TiB, but I realized I started to scroll before all of the apps/backups loaded, so it was very brief. Other than that, I am not noticing any type of jittery scrolling.

Ahh. Thanks. Looks like Froyo is restoring my apps. How nice. I see Samsung still doesn't sort the App Drawer alphabetically. Sheesh.

I was able to sneak away and finish the upgrade. After the phone came up, I signed into my Gmail account, and told it not to do the backups. And I did my contacts restore through the Verizon tool.

The phone was VERY slow, and I realized that it was re-installing my apps again. How is this possible? I told it not to do the Google backup service. It reinstalled all of my apps and set my wallpaper to what it was before. Let the phone settle down; still seeing the "jerkyness".

Next, I did a factory reset and when it came back up I cancelled all of the syncing. No Gmail, no contacts, nada. The apps did not load up this time. Yet, still, the scrolling in the default browser has suttering.

Here's what makes this a real problem. I loaded up AndroidCentral full, like Cory does in the video, and my phone is having a really hard time with it. I'm using the default browser so maybe that's part of it. But it took about 2 minutes for the site to load, and once it did it jumps all over the place when you try to scroll. If you put your finger on the screen and move it around, the page follows a good second or two behind your finger. And if I scroll quickly, I get large spaces on the screen where I see the graph paper pattern, until it loads the page.

I'm heading out to a cupcake bar (Wife's valentines present, lol), but I'll be back on later tonight.

Try running DL30 & see if it stutters.

the app restoring thing is a froyo feature do the following
Settings>Privacy> shutoff auotmatic restore

i dont know whats going on with the browser, did you pull the battery in the middle of installing flash?

No it did not. I guess it could be an app?

Sorry, I was talking to Bluevolume :p

Aw crap. I still get the FC loop. I guess I will have to enter manually.

I've yet to have a successful result with Titanium. I have had spent more time troubleshooting issues after it's restores than I would have if I'd just started from the beginning.

Bluevolume: If you haven't had any success, at this point, and you are following our instructions, I don't think flashing again is a very worthwhile thing to do. You might have a hardware issue, that DL30, EB01, and potentially the official OTA just doesn't agree with. Only other comments I would have is to stay away from Verizon Backup, do not configure or activate your phone, configure WiFi, and try to browse the web from there. I think you said that's what you did, but just wanted to suggest that anyway. Also, do you have another SD card lying around that you could try? How about just removing it entirely?

Also, when you are done upgrading to DL30, try booting into CWR red, and doing a wipe/factory reset.

Do you have the ability to shoot a video?

Did you try flashing DI01 or was this dismissed?
