LG G3 Wireless Qi charging

Can't speak to T-Mobile version specifically, but my VZW has full function while wirelessly charging. This message being written from it while charging on a Tylt Vu. Made a test phone call too.

You can use the phone however you want while charging. It just still has to be making contact with the charger. And be careful you aren't pulling more juice than the charger is giving.

Thank for for verifying this for me.

my att back cover looks like the style 2. would it still not work even though the pins match? if it doesn't, i'm very upset. im on tmo but bought an att for cheap and got it unlocked. i thought they were all the same; i even looked up their differences and no one mentioned this issue with the wireless charging pins. so stupid that i'm tmo but can't use my qi charger because of att restrictions
It is not style 2. Style 2 has 4 pins evenly spaced and is for Korean models (F series). Style 1 has 2 pins followed by a space and 2 more pins. This is what US carriers have.

There is no solution for AT&T right now unless you go to AT&T store and buy a Quick Circle case and either use the case or rip out the wireless charging sticker and implant it on to your battery cover. I just sent a manufacturer a AT&T LG G3 for them to do research to see if they can make a PMA wireless charging sticker chip.
I got my G3 yesterday with Tmobile. I thought I read recently that you cannot use the phone while wireless charging, but I cannot find where I read that. I would like to use something like the air dock to charge wirelessly in the car but also use the phone to listen to music at the same time.

Can anyone confirm whether or not I will be able to use the phone while wireless charging?
You can charge wirelessly. But not out of the box. You either have to buy a new battery door that lets you charge wirelessly or buy Qi sticker chips.

As for the Airdock, I've heard some people having issues with the Qi sticker chips not work with it but with no problems with other chargers.

Woo hoo. Got my wireless charging back (bought via Amazon.com, from a retailer from China). I had to get a gold battery cover (they had white and gold only).
As far as in can tell this is an LG manufactured battery cover.
Now my phone wirelessly charges on my tylt wireless charger both naked and with my pt platinum protective case with kickstand.

Here is the link to the case:

I will say to anyone thinking of ordering this back, if you do standard shipping it will take between 1 and 6 weeks. I ordered on the 12th, was being told it would not get here till Sept 18th but it arrived today.

After reading the reviews you appear to be one of the few that received a back with the correct charging points as well as a good fit. The majority of reviews suggest not purchase this item.

I guess I am lucky then. The back was a little snug but it works.

Got the international version G3 which came with Qi charging capabilities. The problem i found when i tried charging it is, because of the handsets curved back cover, its very hard to find the charging sweet-spot. Wireless charging is very intermittent. Charging it with my fosmon phone case on is impossible from where the case is very thick and chunky. May have to adapt my wireless charger so the G3 sits on it without rocking from side to side.

So I have to say that with the tylt wireless Qi charger this is not an issue. (I have had this issue with the LG wireless charger , which I own, as well as other wireless chargers that I have tried in store or at others houses). The tylt charger is a bit more expensive, I think retails for $69, but it is worth it for this very reason. I have never had a problem getting my phone to charge (used it with my G2 and loved it, and for the last 3 days been using with my G3 both with and without a protective case and have had no problems. Good luck

I have the Sprint version and it supports Qi charging but the back lacks the hardware necessary. So, I have opted for the Circle Case WITH (NOT ALL HAVE IT) Qi Charging upgrade. The difference is the on the non Qi the phone just snaps in on the Qi case it replaces the back and has the hardware in the back to upgrade and enable the Qi charging.

Have a strange issue with my Sprint LG G3 using Qi wireless charging. I have the correct antenna installed with the right spacing and have verified the pins are aligned properly. Have tried two different Qi chargers but my phone looks like charging is going to work as it pops up the wireless charging battery icon with percent remaining and then after the screen clears nothing else happens. No charging, no red flashing light and if you wake the phone up the battery icon does not have the charging indication showing. I know the chargers are good as I can drop my Nexus 7 on them and boom it starts charging. Is there something you need to enable or do to the Sprint version to get it to support wireless charging? I'm starting to think I got a dud.

Thanks.

This won't be much help. But I know I had to have the pins exactly correct for the charging to work and even then if the phone is not on the "sweet" spot it can start and stop randomly. But when adjusted to the right spot, it works perfectly. I'm using the pod charger that came with my Nexus 4.

The 4 pins are on every G3 (the phone itself)

There are 2pin backs and 4 pin

The 2 pin backs are for NFC

The 4 pin backs are for NFC & Wireless Charging.

The base 4 pins (phone itself) are there so you can purchase a back cover with 4 pins.

Speaking of pin backs, anyone like the indie band Pinback? Awesome, if non-conventionall, band.

I had the same issue with a couple of chargers.
My wife's LG G2 and a friend with a GS4 witha charging back had no issues, but my phone did nothing most of the time.
I went to a T-Mobile store and tested the TYLT charging station and it work flawlessly.
I bought the TYLT and it works great.

So, I tried to read all of the comments here and follow, but I'm afraid I'm just more confused.

I bought a Verizon G3, and an LG brand charging ...puck. But No matter how I position it, it doesn't charge. My sales person assured me it would work. When I remove the back plate, it looks like the "Qi" backplates available in ebay. Am I missing something? Do I need to buy something else?

Help! (Glad to post pictures)

I have LG G3 with wireless charging also,,, had same issues with slow charging. After a lot of research I found a post from an LG employee, he said that LG's stock wall charger and wire aren't sufficient enough to charge G3, LG G3 has 1.8 Amp charger, and that if you use 2.0 Amp and up charger with Abby brand wireless charging base it would solve the problems everyone's been having... I was skeptical, but went to best buy and bought a Samsung oem standard wall charger which is 2.0 amp, and hooked to my wireless charging base, low and behold it worked much better... Still not perfect but way better.... Also I think the higher amps you go the better it works...hope this helps.. Cause I know first hand how frustrating this problem was....

Yeah, you're missing a Verizon sales rep who knows what he's talking about.

No US variant of the G3 including wireless charging built in. What you see in the back of your phone is the NFC antenna. If you look at the top, you'll probably see two little metal contacts. Qi backs have 4 contacts, two for NFC, two for charging.

You need to purchase either a new Qi enabled back, or replace the sticker in the back you have with something like this:

LG G3 VS985 LS990 D851 Qi Wireless Charging NFC Antenna Sticker Replacement | eBay

I'm using this one, and it works fine. Scraping the old NFC sticker out of the back was a bit of work, but otherwise no issues.

Ended up buying a Qi enabled back on Ebay and a ZENS Qi charger. Tried the LG charger and hated it.
