LG G4 Battery Life Thread

Re: FDR and Battery Life

I know it's not what you're asking, but you're getting some very impressive screen-on times.

Thanks. Yes, I am pleased with that especially. I had a Droid Turbo, so it eases the expected dropoff shock considerably.I think I have Lux to thank for that to some significant degree.

Re: LG G4 SOT

Here's my most recent ...

Auto brightness with slider at 80%. Mix of wifi and mobile data but mostly wifi, particularly during overnight idle. On overnight, bluetooth and location services off, otherwise on. Most Google services syncing and one exchange client syncing every hour. Manual weather location with hourly sync. No Google Now as I don't use it and no Smart settings on. This was normal mixed use for me with web browsing via Chrome, Email, Android Central app, texting and some video. Phone talk time was very limited.

I probably could have squeezed another 20 mins of SOT out of the remaining 10% to hit 5 hours SOT on almost 40 hours off a full charge, but I decided to stop at 10%. With the way I use my Android phones I have no qualms whatsoever about the battery on the G4.

Given that it isn't sold by Amazon, high likelihood of a fake

It is fulfilled by Amazon though. And I've never even heard of the site selling the other one.

Out of curiosity, if electronic accessories are not sold by Amazon themselves, is it always a high likelihood of being fake, or is it just that the price on this seems too good to be true? And how can one tell if it's fake if I get it and it looks identical?

Fulfilled by Amazon just means that the third party seller sends it to amazon to ship.

It depends on the item. But stuff like spare batteries, sd cards, cases, headphones, chargers, etc ... They are faked a lot. I wouldn't take a chance on third party sellers, unless they are the manufacturer.

Sometimes you won't be able to tell if it is a fake or not.

Re: Shop Android Batteries

Does anybody know what it means of a seller has (featured merchant) next to their title? I know that's an actual thing within Amazon sellers but I wasn't aware that it ever actually said that next to their title.

There is a spare battery+ battery charger being sold by iCyberStore and fulfilled by Amazon, and they have that by their title. They are not a new seller and have good ratings, and the price is $49.95 which seems good.

If you can't tell if it is fake or not and it works, what's the difference?

If it were fake and worked as well as the genuine battery throughout its lifetime, you probably wouldn't be able to tell. But the point is that fake batteries look like the real thing. You'll find out that they're not when you get poor battery life. You'll find out even quicker if they leak or explode.

And to add to that, if it exploded, then the. Cell phone manufacturer would not take any responsibility if it was not an authentic battery. Of course you could go after the battery manufacturer, if you can find them... Good luck with that.

Re: Shop Android Batteries

I need a charger with the battery so whoever offers a charger gets my money.

Re: FDR and Battery Life

Checking back in with an update on battery life since my FDR.

The G4 was factory data reset on 8/27. That's 10 full days ago, bookended by parts of the 27th and today. As I mentioned earlier, I even reset my GSam stats after I'd done some of the setup after the FDR, so initial use beyond the norm wasn't counted.

Surprisingly, by comparison, the battery sucks compared to where it was before the FDR.

I was at just over 20 hours overall (a month and a half of data) on 8/27. Right now GSam says16 h 0 m since 8/27.

My SoT remains great, at 6 h 26 m right now, pretty much the same as the 6 h 15 m before the FDR.

So, where the heck did my extra 4 hours of overall battery go? Not only has an FDR not imporoved things, it appears to have made things worse.

When I had wonky battery stats when I first got the G4 in June, there were hints and clues to follow. A higher than expected Held Awake time in GSam, for example. This lead me to apps that might do that for whatever reason (ultimately the app itself didn't show any signs, it was visible in Android OS' Keep Awake time).

There are no obvious red flags I've noticed this time. If anything, I am more locked down for battery savings now than before the FDR (i.e. I turn off Location completely unless I actually need it).

Not necessarily asking for help, since I've not given you much with which to work, but wanted to touch base on the FDR/battery life topic.
