LG G4 Battery Life Thread

Re: LG G4 battery life isn't as great as those reviewers said

Between 3.5 to 4 hours if I had to guess

3.5 to 4 hours SOT at 70%+ back lighting? There's no issue with your phone.

I would say if you need the back light that high, then a 5.5" QHD screen may not meet your needs. It takes a lot of power to push those pixels.

3+ hours of screen time? I have never gotten remotely close to that with my phone. I don't even think I've ever gone much past 2..

Re: LG G4 battery life isn't as great as those reviewers said

I don't have screen caps, but I've always found my phone to get exceptionally good battery life. I've usually just played it off that I don't use my phone very heavily during the day. But a few weeks ago I had a fairly heavy day of usage (streaming music for a couple hours at work, then spent a fair bit of time getting a number of Tasker items set up.) In the evening I looked at the stats, it had been off the charger for a little over 12 hours, with 3:15 hours screen on time (100% brightness w/ auto dimming) and the batt had just dropped below 50%.

I don't do facebook syncing or any of that stuff. Just gmail, really. I don't really ever use wifi, but I do have a strong cell signal most all the time (VZW.) I would also say that I am rooted, and I have been very aggressive in freezing unneeded apps in TiBackup.

Running completely stock on Verizon, all radios on, Facebook and Gmail auto syncing, PocketCasts downloading 4-5 new podcasts at 4am, with only a few Keep Awake and Location permissions rescinded through the LG Access app - I'll put the phone down at 10pm with 100% charge and wake up 8 hours later with never less than 98%.

Re: LG G4 battery life isn't as great as those reviewers said

I just purchased a spare replacement battery from China off eBay... From what I can tell on the packaging it looks to be oem but performs like trash. Hour and a half off the charger and I'm at 66 percent. The battery that came with the phone performs much better.

Re: LG G4 H815 performance, lag, battery, etc?

I have the H815 and it's a beast of a phone.
No lag, decent battery time = good performance.
Just picked up the Zerolemon battery for it to complete the beast.

Re: LG G4 battery life isn't as great as those reviewers said

I have the extra battery pack and I have never been without power. I agree, the battery life isn't STELLAR, but then again, we all use our phones a lot or not a lot.....we all aren't running the same apps so we will all have different results.

I am plugged in most of the day while at work. When I get in my car and my battery is low, I plug in there. If I am really really low, then I swap my battery out....not a big deal.

Could you imagine if this was an iPhone or a Samsung phone where you couldn't swap out batteries?. Yeah, with those phones you can quick charge...but I can go from 5% battery life left to 100% in about 1 min. with a swap and I don't have to find an outlet to sit next to for 30 mins. to get a decent battery charge.

Also, planning your usage is important. If I am going on a trip and don't know the area...I will be using MAPS a lot and that will drain the battery. If I am doing GeoCache or Munzee, that will drain it quick as well....but if I am going on a drive or running errands or just taking pictures...I will get better life.

I will be looking into the ZeroLemon battery if I consistently need more juice.

LG G4 - screen sucks up battery life!

Hi everyone!

I've had this phone for almost two months now, I am very happy with this phone BUT the battery life is horrible. It goes down by 1% every 2 minutes!!

The main reason, my phone says is, is screen (up to 45%) even if I use it with 0% brigthness. I just don't understand.
The first week, the battery life was great, I would sleep with 100% and wake up with 98%. Now, I wake up with 85%-90%.
I am on T-Mobile and I live in Austria. My phone is debloatet already.

I also tried to change the network setting from 3G/2G or to GSM/WCDMA but it didn't seem to change anything.
Uninstalling apps didn't do anything either.
I deactived almost all Google apps.

Can anyone help me?
Is it a defect battery - or worse - phone?
It was really great the first weeks!

Thanks!
xx

P.S - Sorry for wrong category, I am just very new!

Re: LG G4 - screen sucks up battery life!

Welcome to Android Central! I moved this thread to the appropriate forum.

Remember that the screen will almost always be the top battery user from a percentage standpoint, unless you never turn the screen on. It's a percentage of use, not absolute.

So that we can better understand the phone's battery use, charge up to 100%, then let it drain to 20-30% with normal usage, without charging in between. Then show us:

1. The main Settings>Battery screen.
2. The fullscreen battery graph screen (which shows Awake time and Cell Signal Strength).
3. The Screen category (to see total Screen On time).
4. The Cell Standby category, if present (to see Time Without Signal).

Extended battery only way to improve this problem. This is a great phone but battery is horrible.

Disagree, I routinely get 4-5 hrs screen time, 1.5 - 2 hrs voice, and assorted other functions, go to bed with 35-45%. Includes areas with poor cell service. More than a day's worth of activity with room to spare. However...no Facebook, or videos are run on this phone.

Re: LG G4 - screen sucks up battery life!

Yes, the screen eats a lot of battery - but then it's a 1440p IPS screen, so that shouldn't come as a surprise. You can, however, significantly cut down on energy use by avoiding overly bright screen settings. I use Lux Lite to get more fine grained control over screen brightness and it makes a significant difference regarding battery life.

I doubt the screen is the actual cause. The OP says he keeps it at 0%...that's lower than running Lux. It's probably an app or 2 that have some runnaway location checks and or poorly written.

Battery problem?

I recently got my G4 from T-mobile and the battery life has been terrible! It seems to be draining as decent amount in my pocket, i cheked my battery stats and cell standby and phone idle are both at 9%. Is that normal? I ALWAYS have great service so i know its not a signal issue. I havent really done to much gaming on it because of the bad battery life. I'm lucky if it get about 2 and a half hours of screen on time even with my brightness being at 10% at home and about 35-40% at work..

Re: Battery problem?

I think part of it is this crap app called t mobile my account. On previous phones I was able to disable this app. Unfortunately, it came pre-loaded on the G4. It collects your account activity like every minute. I hate this thing.
