LG G4 Battery Life Thread

Hello guys, how can you check the SCREEN ONTIME of an G4? All I can see is the batterry usage. Please help because I want to monitor per charge screen usage. Thank you.

Settings-battery and power saving-battery usage then scroll down and click on 'Screen' under battery use details.

Okay thanks. I check before I charge again to make it accurate, correct?

Is there anyone who can say to what extent removing Facebook and Messenger will effect the battery life? Is it like 20% a day with an hour of usage a day, or just a couple %?

Is it then also dependent on which browser is used?

What I notice that has helped me a lot is that I disable WiFi when I leave home. I use Smart Settings to control when it goes on and off. Doing that has helped a lot because the WiFi antenna isn't constantly scanning for a WiFi signal. I am on T-Mobile with 10GB/month and I never even get close to using that in a month....even with WiFi turned off and only using 4G LTE.

Has anyone tried one of the third party extended batteries with their G4? If so, which one and how much did it increase battery life? Any extended batteries that, while obviously bigger and heavier, didn't feel like a crazy brick a la the Zerolemon batteries?

I've gotten this may times.

After the latest update (V20d) and factory reset, I cannot stop the phone searching GPS every few minutes. Down to the bare minimum on the permissions allowed and everything but it still does it and it's not something I'm willing to switch off completely (never needed to before anyway).
Another update disaster from LG.

So, I've had battery issues since I came to the android house, but last week it went nuts. I had a 3 hour battery life. So I (thought) I did the proper back up and did the factory reset. The battery life has been stunning ever since. Simply awesome. Now I hope MM doesn't mess it up. Next time, though, I'll properly back up my messages and my voice recordings....ouch.

My batterylife plummeted as well, after I got the "V20d-JAN-15-2016" a couple of days back. It went from like 4h screen on time to less than 40mins.
I cant even leave for work without a charger, the phone drops battery at an idle rate of 3% per hour or more. I noticed, that "Android OS" is using a lot (40+%) on battery and the phone is constantly looking for a GPS connection, even though I turned all location services off.
No official statement by LG so far? I am prone to give this phone back, if my retailer only took it back after 8 months :/

EDIT: Did 3 factory resets over the weekend to no avail.

I have the same thing since the V20d update too. The GPS thing stopped after a few days (not sure why), but now I'm getting a massive drain that seems to be caused by mobile radio. Phone just plummets even when sitting to one side and I factory reset right after the update. If anything, it's worse after the reset.

Have you tried doing a HARD RESET?.....not from within the phone. I know when I had my Note 3 and it was upgrade to Lollipop my battery took a major hit, I read online that people where having the same issue and they would do a 100% complete factory reset via the HARD RESET and the battery life improved dramatically.

I factory reset my G4 at least 1 time every 3 or 4 months.....not because I have too, but because 1) I like too 2) It improves the battery and lag...if there is any. Before I did, my phone would get hotter than normal and I would go from 100% charge to 50% in 3 hours....with barely any use. After I do the reset, I can go almost a full day (Wake up to bedtime) on a full charge.

Also, switch batteries regularly if you can. I know my G4 came with the extra battery and charger...I rotate every few weeks.

So, my suggestion is to do a factory reset

What do you mean by hard reset? Bear in mind that anyone with a pre September '15 phone can't unlock or root as they won't have any warranty then when the bootloop comes.

Got Marshmallow a couple of days ago. My battery was excellent on my phone. Now it's horrible. So frustrating. I actually have to charge my phone throughout the day now when I did not have to. My usage has stayed the same. This really sucks.

A hard reset is a FACTORY RESET except you don't use the software (SETTINGS -> GENERAL -> Back up & Reset). You turn your phone off and hold down the VOLUME DOWN rocker and the POWER BUTTONat the same time. Once the LG Screen displays, quickly let go of the power button and press it again until you get to a screen that says "reset" (or something)....that is called a HARD RESET

~4 months old LG G4.
Battery usually lasts for over 50 hours.
On some occasions, will last for over 60 hours, depending on usage of course.
I play for 10 minutes every day. Talk for 1-2 hours everyday and surf the web for couple of minutes.
Maybe couple of photos.
Just pay attention and do not charge your phone when it still has over 20% or so juice. Wait for it to be under 10%, charge fully and repeat..

It's actually not recommended to let a lithium battery get that low. It's generally recommended to charge when you get around 40% charge left to avoid premature battery wear.
