Nexus sales banned - do I get mine?

So I got mine today and I have no idea how to get 4.1 JB on it. DO I have to root it, bottloader unlock it, or neither? How do I mount the non-existent sdcard?

Baby steps, my friend, baby steps.

Read as much as you can about rooting, unlocking, ROMS, etc, especially if you have not done any of it. And then read a little more! You can definitely have JB on your phone, but I suggest reading as much as possible first. You will save yourself a lot of time and frustration if you take your time. There are lots of folks and threads here on AC that will provide plenty of info to get you where you want to be.

You can wait about 2 weeks and you'll get an update over the air without doing anything.

If you want it now:

Unlock? Yes but it that won't wipe a play store phone for some still unknown reason

Root, don't think so but why not?

To access the built in sdcard just plug the usb cable into a pc and you should be able to access it as if it had a real sdcard.
If you want a one click solution the galaxy nexus toolkit will be updated for JB in a day or so. There are manual methods available now.


BTW, did someone have to sign for your phone when it was delivered?

Once I get mine on Thursday I think I'll just wait a couple of weeks for the official OTA 4.1 update.

I'll root it for sure, but don't feel like flashing anything when I can keep it clean and get the real thing soon enough.

I ordered mine Friday night and it has left Kentucky. Still has a delivery of Thursday of course. Thursday will be interesting, when a lot of us receive our phones.

Glad you folks are getting your devices. I would think that Google would have a decent amount of stock as this ban was an import ban, not a sales ban fro my understanding, so they should be able to sell stock and one would hope that Google saw this coming and stocked up. My only complaint is price of accessories. Car and desk docks are about $10 too high in my opinion. If you call to talk to Google about your phone and agree accessories are too high complain and maybe they will drop prices. Best of luck getting your phones, as I am happy with mine !

how I despise Apple.....I have never had an iPhone and never want one, had an early generation iPod Touch.....pretty much hated the whole setup......this kind of thing really pisses me of....happy i got my order in but not happy for the people that wanted to get one.....
