Head over to jaekar99's sticky list of roms/kernels/themes. If you forgot to wipe data it can't hurt to wipe and reflash. You may not need to depending on what you had before.

I have been running 2.9.1 for a week now. Last night I was trying to clean out my gallery. So I started deleting pictures and they would just move around in the gallery but not delete. So i hit the back button and the phone locked up. Had to pull the battery after 10 + minutes and now phone is randomly rebooting , locking up, and being very twitchy ( scrolling not smooth ) In both android launcher and Launcher pro. Any thoughts? I haven't installed or deleted any apps or files, Just tried to delete some pics from the gallery ????

I also flashed the nonvodoo, but I have a vodoo file on my sd? Can I delete this?

I'm a newbee, this is the closest I have come to going for it, I have downloaded odin, samsung plugins, update.zip, and theSuper Clean version 2.9 - EB01/EC16 Froyo leak root+Froyo Clockworkmodwith MALWARE protection
RIGHT CLICK AND SELECT EXTRACT HERE THE .rar file AFTER DOWNLOADING AND BEFORE USING(How to extract in post #2) -->EC16SC29_DXC.tar

All to my desktop, what worries me the most out of all the steps is the update.zip part, What happens if I skip that part and just do the rest? Can someone help me when they have a chance. Thank you

So is the sd card for what is called custom roms?and what does that mean? I use zedge mostly for backgrounds, I can still use it after going to froyo? Will my phone be like in Cory's video minus all the verizon bloatware? Sorry for so many questions

whats the difference between "EB16SC29_DXC.tar.md5" and "EC16SC29_DXC.tar.md5"

DroidXcon included the EC10 kernel instead of the EB16 kernel. Most people are reporting improved performance with the EC10 kernel

The sd card is the removable micro secure digital (sd) card that is in our phones. Take the back cover off, look above the battery on the right side, you will see the micro sd card. Don't try to pull it out unless you have unmounted it. You can go menu=>settings=>sd card & phone storage, and click on unmount sd card. Then you can push the sd card toward the left and it will pop out a little so you can now pull it out. It is just a data storage card that hold files, etc.

A custom ROM is superclean, or Blackhole, or jt1134's Vanilla AOSP. A base, stock ROM is what Verizon will eventually push out SOMEDAY through OTA or Kies. When the indie developers take that base ROM and alter it, it becomes a custom ROM.

Being on Froyo will not affect your ability to use Zedge.

There's a lot of reading you should do that will cover a lot of the questions you have and will help your understanding:

Start here:
Sheepdog Elite's Beginning Rooter's Thread
and click on the various links within that thread to get more information. Make sure to definitely click on the first link in the first post to read Sheepdog Elite's first beginning rooters thread.

So Maybe I'm not ready for the jump, but I can skip it as droidx said and my phone will still be fine right

Wait, not ready for what jump? If you are referring to update.zip it is simply a zip file that is a key which gets you into clockworkmod recovery. With the new cwm-all, you don't really need update.zip. Read Sheepdog Elite's threads and a lot of this should make more sense. You can use DroidXcon's package and skip the part about putting update.zip on your sd card if you don't understand that part. Then after you reboot, to make sure everything installed ok, you will need to power down the phone, pull the battery again, open ODIN, then flash this CWM-ALL in the PDA section. Don't extract or unzip the file, just place it in the PDA section as is. Should only take 7 seconds. When it is done, close ODIN, unplug from USB, put battery back in phone, reboot, and you will have everything you need to take the next eventual steps in rooting and flashing.

Hello everyone,

first of all thanks for this great write up. I've always been scared of messing with the phone and know I feel like a pro haha. I have question.. I downloaded and installed superclean 2.9 and was succesful. When I opend the "my files" icon I saw a voodoo folder and ignored it. I then went and downloaded the 2.9.2 patch non voodoo. it installed fine and phoe works. Should I have downloaded the voodoo version??

the link for the EC16SC29_DXC.tar still goes to the EB16SC29_DXC.tar file on Megaupload's site.

No, stick with nonvoodoo for now.

Shark , I tried the voodoo version and I don't see a difference except for GPS problems but got it working. To go back to non voodoo do I just flash the non voodoo file using recovery. or is there extra steps

There are extra steps which is exactly why I recommend new rooters stay away from voodoo. First question that needs to be asked is when you tried the voodoo version, did you hear a lady droid voice on reboot and did the reboot take like 15 minutes?

Shark, You mentioned that you dont recomend voodoo for newbies but since my phone is working should I leave it alone or do you recommend going back to no-voodoo?
