On the GS6. What's more of a deal breaker for you, no removable battery or no SD card?

Re: So... S6 alternatives with SD card support?

If you're on Verizon you pretty much can either get the HTC One M9 or wait on the G4.

Re: So... S6 alternatives with SD card support?

You could get the S5, its even water resistant

Re: S6 is the reason I'm ditching Samsung, after owning Fascinate/S2/Droid Charge/S3/Note 2/Note 3/S

While I agree that for the company itself this is the best phone they've made, I don't agree that it's necessarily best for the consumer. Personally, I'm not too big a fan of the front and back glass. It's a terrible print magnet. While that can be remedied with a case, it defeats the purpose of the design. It's essentially the same phone, but of different materials. Yes, TouchWiz is scaled back, but it's still cluttered. The horrible icons are still there, as is the horrible teal blue and green scheme. As a S3 owner, they talk about innovation, but what have they really done in that regard? Yes, the screen looks great, but it's QHD AMOLED with a small battery. 577 ppi being pushed on a 2, 550 mAh battery? Call me skeptical. Yes, the camera shutter is fast. With the lack of SD card storage, you'll have to save pics to the cloud. All they have done is shine and gloss up their original concept, making it fragile to handle, while simultaneously taking away their two biggest selling points. Lame job, imho.

Most of these points are personal biases. According to the claims, the S6 battery will last longer then the iPhone 6, and a little bit less than the iPhone 6 Plus. Thats not that bad, but we will have to see actual tests to confirm this.

As for SD Card, I do agree they should not have removed this, but its not that hard to back up photos to an external drive or cloud after a while. I save my pics on Dropbox, I thought I'd never use it, but its actually pretty useful. I am pissed though because I use my phone for music, and much rather put my music on an SD card than on the phone storage. I'll need to find a separate MP3 player now.

Or you can wait and see if verizon will offer the 128gb option... You never know right.. I have a feeling that since there losing the expandable storage on these galaxy Phones completely we may see more of the 64 gb and 128 gb varients readily available... Here's hoping anyway!

Arg. I have been a Samsung owner for as long as you (starting with the Samsung Omnia), and unless they do better for the Note 5, I will likewise look elsewhere. I feel like they went 3 steps backward so it can be just like an iphone. If someone wanted a phone that is metal and looks like the new s6 they will get an iphone. Go back to the plastic back and the flexibility of a removable battery (particularly since they are going with a smaller battery), a sd card (especially now that they have a 200 GB card), and being waterproof. Why take so many steps backwards when someone can already get an iphone? I will be waiting to see what they do with the Note 5 before making my final decision.

Re: So... S6 alternatives with SD card support?

You might check out the Sony Xperia Z3v. Waterproof,Qi Charging built in ,along with SD Card support.

The lack of SD card will be a deal breaker for me, but I think you should also add the fact that it is not waterproof to the list of deal breakers. They seem to be going backwards by at least 3 years just to copy the iphone.

People that Want an iPhone, Have an iPhone with iOS. Some people want an iPhone like build quality, and are used to not having a SD card slot or a removable battery. The S6 is the android phone I have been waiting for since moving to android.
I couldn't care less about an SD card slot or removable battery. I never keep a phone for more than a year anyways.
The battery will be in perfect condition in a year.
The build quality was so good on the Alpha, that I considered buying it for about a minute, but the low end specs made me go Note 4 for a while until my dad saw it and asked me to trade his 6+ for it. I did, he's old and loves the easy mode on the Note.
iPhone 6+ is already for sale so I can get the S6 Edge White 64GB. I'll have to go back to the Note 2 for a few weeks if the iPhone sells quickly.

Re: Does anything worry you about the Galaxy S6?

If I have to be tied to a computer or the cloud all the time, I'm losing some of the benefits of not having a iPhone. With a sd card I can have my pictures and music with me all the time without having to hook to the computer to get it or use valuable data to download from the cloud.
That wasn't my point. I was simply saying that you could use a computer to move your files to a different phone.

Re: So... S6 alternatives with SD card support?

Get the Note 4, G4 or g3 if people aren't buying that stuff Samsung will bring it back

Has Apple bought Samsung?

New Samsung Galaxy "iphone" S6. No SD card slot, no user replaceable battery. Flop, full stop.

Re: Has Apple bought Samsung?

I don't think it will flop. People who like Android will still buy the phone. Apple has proven that you don't need a replaceable battery or up gradable memory to sell phones. Some people will be upset but they will still buy the phone. So, I would not call it a "iPhone" S6 just because of that. I will however call it a "iPhone" S6 because Samsung modeled the phone after the iPhone. I literally took my 6 Plus out of the case and could not believe how much they looked alike. It looks like they took the aluminum frame of a iPhone and put a different face on it.

Re: Does anything worry you about the Galaxy S6?

The writers at Imore are having brain aneurysms right now over the S6, so as a non-Samsung person I guess Samsung must have done something right if those IPhone fans are throwing such a fit

They are throwing a fit because how much the phone looks like a iPhone.

Re: Does anything worry you about the Galaxy S6?

From what I can see the iPhone supporters are simply dismissing the S6 because they see it as copying the iPhone 6. They seem to be rather quiet about the S6 Edge but soon they'll be dismissing it too for whatever reason.

Your in luck. All I use are iPhones and I already want to dis the Edge. (Both Note and Galaxy) I think it is a poor design. Let's take the Note 4 Edge for example: What is it going to be used for? I don't see a lot of developers willing to utilize that part of the screen. I don't see them taking the time or spending the money in altering apps to use it when the market is so small. I can see there being Samsung apps or native Android apps using it more in the future but that is about it.

I have a couple friends who have the Note 4 and personally I love the phone. It is a great phone but the curved edges of the S6 and the Note Edge are pointless.

Re: Does anything worry you about the Galaxy S6?

The absence of a micro SD slot and the non removable battery is a disappointment.

Re: Does anything worry you about the Galaxy S6?

The battery life. I hope it's going to last longer. I've been to having phones that really performs well but the downside, heat so fast and poor battery draining quickly than I thought.

While I have an iPhone 6+, I also have a Note Edge. TBH, the Edge display offers plenty of functionality today. More functionality would be welcome but what it does now is plenty cool. I wish they'd offered more functionality to the S6 Edge's curve but can also understand why they didn't. The S6 Edge is different and it is sliq and IMO those two factors will sell plenty of phones.

G3 📱🍭

Battery life is likely going to be a lot better than the S5.
battery wears out, its just the way it is, it will lose 10-25% in a year, and holds half after 2 years. S6 has no way to fix it, while s5 does.

Battery life is likely going to be a lot better than the S5. You can now upgrade to 128GB internal (which is not only significantly faster than any SD card, but also less prone to corruption). I'm not seeing how either is a dealbreaker
