On the GS6. What's more of a deal breaker for you, no removable battery or no SD card?

Re: So now that the Stylemiesters and have a premium metal bodyLOL. Can we please have a Galaxy S6 P

There will probably be an Active version that will be waterproof. I could see the Galaxy Note line taking the "Pro" reins and maintaining the removable battery/MicroSD slots.

Re: Does anything worry you about the Galaxy S6?

No SD card is going to be hard to deal with. I have 700 pics on my GS3 with no way to move them over to a non-card phone...or do I?

You could USB them to a PC
You could get an OTG (Micro)USB stick and copy them to it
You could upload to Google Drive
You could upload to Google Photos

That's just for starters.

Re: Does anything worry you about the Galaxy S6?

I've just been reading some other articles, with photos of screens on the S6 Edge, and I definitely don't like it. It looks like the display itself spills over onto the edges rather than only showing on the flat part. Not sure if I like that very much, definitely NOT going Edge.

Re: Does anything worry you about the Galaxy S6?

I have an N6 and am not feeling phone envy but as someone who actively roots for Samsung, I am mostly indifferent. I am a really big fan of SD card slots but I'm living without it and still alive. I like the removable battery option but am living without one. So after harping on those two things as a 'must' in the past, I will say that their absence isn't that big of a deal in hindsight.

The design is a home run. I don't think anyone in the mainstream really cares about front facing speakers yet although it wouldve been nice. At least the speakers aren't on the back.

My only gripe is with durability and the glass back. I think it's a step Samsung took to differentiate itself, but glass shatters easily and this will make dropping this thing a nightmare unless you want an Otterbox (at which point draping your beautiful phone in a tough case makes the design changes moot). The N4 and iPhone 4 do not have good track records with their glass backs, so I doubt Samsung will have much luck.

I definitely see this as a step in the right direction but TouchWiz, no matter how subdued or toned down, is still a problem. It pains me to see that Samsung didn't even bother to change the icons or at least develop more of a stock feel. Lollipop in stock form is beautiful and while TouchWiz certainly looks the best it has ever looked, I would've hoped for more.

All this being said, the Samsung v Apple war is moot at this point. Everyone has pretty much taken sides and few people are switching. To me, this is about Samsung regaining its sheer domination among Android competitors. And the primary difference between Android phones comes down to OEM. If you don't fix the OEM, you won't regain market share. There's not enough customization or attention to everyone's gripes with TouchWiz here to indicate to me at least that Samsung is going to reclaim that market share.

Re: Does anything worry you about the Galaxy S6?

My only fear now, hearing about the S6, is how bad the Note5 will be. If they go the same route with the Note5, I think I'll be stuck with my Note2 for a few more years. The lack of SD storage and a non-servicable battery is definitely a deal killer for me. My wife may probably upgrade to the 6 since she's not really into much more than pictures and such and can easily download onto other sources.

I store lots of things like Podcasts, Ebooks, and pictures. The internal storage limit gets exceeded quickly for me and to be honest, Kit Kat has been playing Heck with me ever since I accidentally updated my phone from JellyBean.

I had my hopes up, thinking the S6 would retain some of the great things that helped create and maintain the Galaxy line/brand. But, no SD card and a non-removable battery are both deal breakers for me. I get it that some people don't care and it's all good. My wife and I both have G3's and we frequently travel. A spare battery has came in handy on more than one occasion. I don't care about quick charging. I can go from 5% to 100% in less than a minute. We also have a young child and take lots of pictures. Large capacity SD cards are cheap. Much cheaper than $100 for every 32gb or 64gb increment. I also like putting the SD card in an adapter, plugging it in to my laptop/working with the files easily while not having to be tethered to my phone the entire time. They're also good for backups from time to time. If they think non-removable storage is better for the consumer, why are digital cameras not manufactured with it? IMO, it's not better. More phones are sold and the profit made using internal storage is crazy. It sure has treated Apple pretty good. Lastly, and this is just cosmetic, I can't recall a time that I thought about my phone and wished the back was glass. Sure, I keep a case on it...no one would ever know the difference. That 'premium feel' is determined by the case being used. As far as being practical, well, a glass back and practical probably shouldn't be used in the same sentence outside of this context.

I like Samsung and will probably go with the Note 4 soon due to my perception of the S6's shortcomings. If the Note 5 and/or 6 go the route of the S6 and no other huge innovations come around, guess it'll be time for me to jump ship.

I totally understand people liking the S6. It looks good and has some great features. I'm sure it'll make a lot of people happy.

The vast majority of people don't use SD cards or swap out batteries. I don't know anybody IRL who does either. OEM's make phones for what the majority of their users want or use not the minority. Bye bye to SD cards and removable batteries..

Samsung will pay dearly for this. What really eats me is the lack of support for microSD, non.removable battery i can live with.

Now that I have had a chance to see it. Neither would be a huge deal breaker.

First, if the TouchWiz is as slimmed down as it appears and the processor is more efficient, then a removable battery is not a big deal. Of all the Galaxy S models that I have owned, I have never swapped out batteries.

Second, even if you purchased the 32GB flavor, you would still have to pay for a 128GB card when for slightly more you get the 132GB model. Granted, far less storage but if you really need that much, get a tablet or a laptop.

Yeah sure and that's why people were loving these two USP features.

Also if there's no real fact to base this vast majority or minority crap on..It's not wise to use it.

Yeah some users from other phone manufacturers or operating systems aren't so what?

Samsung users do as evidenced by the backslash already. The camera is awesome and a debloated touchwiz is nice but they blew it simple as that.

By the backlash on these forums?? LOL. This forum probably makes up .0001% or less of total android users..

No overall and of course on social media..Also people who are using numbers without facts well...

It's a fact that more people than not do not use SD cards and/or swap removable batteries. If the majority of users wanted or used those features then the two biggest smartphone OEM's would have them in their phones..

Ok let me try something else then:

IF LG nails it with the g4 -which is not hard to do given the lackluster m9 and the s6 without USP - this mistake will be costly for Samsung and for what? They won't gain much of the "I don't care crowd" because they are already buying other phones or are using a very different operating system.

Another point: that glossy back looks cheap and will be a scratch, fingerprint paradise..gg4 our not

The GS6 is anything but lackluster. IMO it will outsell the M9 and G4 combined..
