On the GS6. What's more of a deal breaker for you, no removable battery or no SD card?

The OS has its own partition.
A factory reset doesn't wipe the storage partition.

Yes, that's all right for backing up (if you have the time) but not a good continued regular use solution. Jar it and see what happens.

I guess I believed another poster that was mistaken then.
It seems that wouldn't be too hard to have a separate partition that doesn't get wiped.

It isn't a continual use solution like a micro SD that fits into an internal slot in the phone. I never worry about having to do a factory reset on a lower end phone I have with micro SD but I've been holding off doing it for months on my Nexus 5 because backing up is going so slowly (28 GB!). I won't buy another phone without micro SD now that I'm facing this situation. Love the Nexus 5 but it's missing key hardware features. And so is my OnePlus One.

It is a solution for backing files up. People are crying about "what if I have to wipe the OS" or "I don't like having my files on the device". Yeah, okay. Then some people want to think they are expected to hang this thing off the device and use it like this. God forbid it's gets "jarred". All theses excuses.

A solution? Don't get it!

I travel a lot in the rural areas of the west and when in vehicle no worry, I've got car charger.

However when I go backpacking for a week or more or head out to the high peaks which I regularly do, a spare battery IS A MUST HAVE for the sake of emergency.

After all... there are no charging stations to plug into.

Unless... I want to carry an external solar charger array. Not interested!

Frankly, popping in a lightweight and small battery... is the only way to go.

Actually, backpacking...sounds like a solar power unit would be a good idea in that situation??

I'm sure two batteries won't cut it for a week of backpacking in the high peaks. So what do you do for power?

So a charged up external power pack wouldn't work?
