OTA link

dont know if this has been asked, i didnt read much of the 30pages here. I used the update.zip, it all looked like it was going fine but my phone keeps rebooting and going through an htc screen with percentage going up, then i get a process system is not responding messege. i clock wait instead of force close, then goes to 100% and reboots again. the first time it was doing this a phone call came through. dont know if this caused an issue. thanks

Dang, that and the link below are the only 2 things I've seen on here (& I have not tried either one of them fyi)

[VIDEO] HowTo UnRoot Incredible by downgrading - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum

Yea, thanks. Unfortunately, I tried the first, but again the bootloader is different and I guess that does not apply to my situation. When I try to install the zip it just errors.

I am going to try the second one, but the download is incredibly slow. Apparently there is high traffic. Also, I have a mac not a pc and I do not believe I will be able to do it on a mac.

Any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I basically need to just start over from scratch, so if anyone has instructions on how to do that, I would be grateful. Thanks again.....

Froyo update problem

I downloaded the update.zip file to my computer's hard drive. When I try to drag and drop it onto the root drive of my SD card, I get a error message saying: Cannot copy update: Data Error (cyclic redundancy check).

Any suggestions please?

Just wanted to say Thanks, I have been lurking and reading about FROYO since I first got my phone. This update works great and now I don't have to wait for Verizon!!

Since you have S-Off, just flash the PB31IMG file from that downgrade video link and you will be back to stock 2.1 with original 1.0 radio

Now, if you are going to install the 2.2 OTA after that, make sure you install the May OTA first.

Tried installing PB31IMG file. It gives me that error 7 I think it is.

Off to work for a couple hours then back to download. Can someone post detailed instructions (that an idiot could understand) on here? Thanks for the help and thanks for the zip. Hope everyone has an awesome day. Waiting on hurricane earl in VA.
Thanks everyone. Just finished and can't wait to kill my battery playing with it. It was so easy a caveman could do it!!

Also, I'm not a big blog/forum person but when my wifes MD got the update I really started looking for it to come to my incredible. I found AC through crackberry with my old storm. I just wanted to say that I have stalked all of the forums on AC since friday and you guys are a resilient bunch and I know that all of us novices certainly appreciate it. I always have questions about how to do things on this phone and now I know the most reliable, imformative and trustworthy place to get answers. Thanks again to everyone who made this happen.

Try to cut it, then paste.

Thanks to Teslatech for the file and Logan and the admins for the instructions... I did the update while driving, it's that easy... I don't recommend doing it while driving though... :)

Although when I try to log in to Peep, it says it's the incorrect username or password, which it isn't...

Congratulations!
Your phone has been updated
successfully to versioin
3.21.605.1.

:D

Thank you gentlemen!

As I will admit, I know **** about all this manual update nonsense, so Can you walk me through the walk me through that was put out for those that know what they are doing? I have tried to update it manually with no dice. Help me out please, I cant wait for the OTA from verizon.

Yes i did. my bootloader is different for some reason. it does not ask if i want to install. I have to select recovery and then I can select to install the zip file. Either way, I tried that, but it errors out. no luck.

I had the same issue and some others have as well, check the name of your file. I named mine Update.zip and it added another .zip at the end. Renamed and it worked 1st try.

I'm not sure if this has been asked...but do I need to root my phone in order to upgrade the phone through the .zip?

edit: I forgot to mention that if you have the shapewriter keyboard installed, it still works perfectly (I have not encountered any errors with it yet).

So does Swype (red edition).

And thanks teslatech, the install went flawlessly. I didn't even think the Droid Eye pause was too much, but maybe that's because I was expecting it.

Start to finish it took less than 10 minutes.

No, no, no, you don't need to root to upgrade to the 2.2 OTA.

I hate to say it, but reading a little will take you a long way.
