Rather odd flash ad for Verizon's 'holiday deals'

Re: What the?

So clearly P3's December prediction was a load of crap considering Verizon planned on selling the device today.

No idea why people follow the guy.

Re: What the?

Hopefully it wont be to many more days and the Nexus is released from its "hostage status".

Re: What the?

Check out the article on it over at Android Police.
Mysterious Verizon Holiday Ad Appears Across The Web, Shows Galaxy Nexus For $199.99

Artem notes the URL: "Note the tag "cmp=BAC-OM-111129-HOLIDAYSAMSUNG" in the Learn More url, which seems to point at a mysterious 11/29 date. Could it be the date the sale will go online?"

Yeah. Saw that too.

Still worried it won't be $199 when it launches. Blackest of Fridays was a good reason to sell at a reduced price. But maybe with the link's date of 11/29, it will still launch $100 cheaper.

Of course the date of 11/29 could be when the ad's link was supposed to expire. Damn.... now I am sad again.

Re: What the?

What a mess it would be for Verizon to advertise the Nexus at $199, only to never actually release the phone at that price. If $199 is indeed a black Friday price and the regular price is $299, that would be a shame!!

Re: What the?

Yeah, it would be nice if VZW came up with a "$199 Sorry We Screwed Up and Missed Black Friday Galaxy Nexus Sale".

Like my granddad used to say, "Spit in one hand and wish in the other, see which one fills up first, boy". lol...

Re: What the?

Knowing that right now, instead of being at work, I could have been at Verizon exchanging my Razr for the Nexus AND getting $100 back...that's just cruel. I'd be very interested to hear the story of how this all got botched.

I'd be interested to hear how this was botched as well. But I think it probably started when Verizon and Google/Samsung said, "Deal.".

Re: What the?

This flies in the face of all the people on here parroting "it is NOT delayed because it was never announced." Clearly the phone has been delayed internally.

Re: What the?

I just called a verizon store to see if they were allowed to sell this and if it was the same price. They confirmed it s the same price and its available for preorder!!!!! She said it will be 14 days before phone is released. Call your local Verizon stores to confirm this. :)

This should really quiet the "it hasn't been delayed" crowd.

For real......and what all of those people fail to realize, it's an internal delay which is a delay all the same. They wanted to already have the phone launched but they can't so therefore it is experiencing an "internal delay"

Meh

Re: What the?

As far as I'm concerned, this doesn't mean squat for a release date. I am far more exicted for the prospect of a discounted GNex than I am for a next-week release. Then again, I'd gladly pay 399.99 if I could get one right now XD

no.. not at all.. noone argued that their wasnt an internal delay that was going on.. that was rather obvious.

they argued that people need to stop having tantrums like 6 yr olds because Verizon hasnt announced a date so therefor you cant cry, tweetbomb, facebook rant, email, call, repeat etc because it makes you look sad because Verizon hasnt even announced a release date.

you arent breaking any laws by doing any of that.. but I would personally feel like a tool to be that worked up over it.

Calling as soon as they open thanks!!!!

Re: What the?

My guess is that the store you called, Mac, was an indirect store. AWireless has been doing pre-orders for over a week with no guaranteed release date. I highly doubt a corporate store is going to confirm a launch date when Verizon themselves haven't said anything. Just wait until Decembe 8th.
