Regarding Dec. 9 no longer being the unofficial date

Im a bit irritated but not really mad anymore... This hurts Verizon because the more ICS roms are released the less the impulse buyers will feel the need to get the galaxy nexus.. Most of us already have dual core phones and could live with them.. Only reason I am considering Verizon anyway is because sprints 3g is and its 4g cant even penetrate walls and they have double the data right now. If that goes away because of this screwed up release they screw themselves out of a new customer!

Apple does all their stuff in house. This can't be said about the Galaxy Nexus. This is an operating system developed by a US company, then pushed to a Japanese based company to build hardware for it, then finally back to Verizon for testing on their network.

Apple also doesn't have to worry about the operating system working amongst 100+ different devices like Google does when they release a new update to Android. It's impressive what Apple does, but they build harware and software that revolve around each other. Android is an operating system that is getting pushed amongst hundreds of different devices.

You got it all wrong my friend. The OS was developed on this phone and optimized for the hardware. The iphone had to be tested on Verizon as well.

As far as the 100 different devices they build OS revisions for. That is not done by Google. That is done by the manufacturer. Google releases the sdk for each OS revision then everybody takes it and blurs it, senses it, touch wizs it, etc. Google has had 1 phone to worry about for ICS, the nexus, that is a fact.
There is no reason VZW could not have releases like Apple.

except p3 is full of it. he recently tweeted those numbers that lead to a date saying he read the email wrong, which would not be the case since the guide showed the 9th and just shows he has no idea what he is saying.... He just likes trying to stay in the mix.

He just likes the likes the fact that so many are willing to powder his bottom, like he's something special.

I have a fascinate with an ics rom and the longer this goes on the more I am willing to wait and see what is unveiled at ces. I mean other than updates right away I would still much rather have an sgs2 or sgs3 since vzw passed on the sgs2.

Damn Im bummed same thing to report here my thousand oaks ca store has been telling me Friday all along and I just called and checked with them and now theyre saying it was supposed to be Friday but its been pushed back as of today and VZW didnt give a release date. The lady sounded pretty exasperated like I was the 100th person to call her and its not even 12 yet.

Ok, this argument drives me nuts. In a dream reality your argument may hold value. In the real world, what you said means nothing.

Let's look at the facts, there are test phones circling around the country that all have no major hardware complaints, and there is an entire continent selling them (yes in a slightly different version) but overall the same phone and they are just fine over there.

The biggest reason you are wrong though is because you praise Verizon for being careful with this release. There were MANY MANY people over in the Thunderbolt forums doing the very same thing when the Thunderbolt started getting delayed. After a very long delay and missed released dates, Verizon finally released the "approved" version. Remember how great that phone is? For months, users suffered from TERRIBLE battery life, and constant reboots. Our wonderful dev community solved the problems fairly quickly, but the average user was forced waiting and waiting and waiting for Verizon to address it.

The same thing will happen here. Any "problem" with the phone that they fix, will be replaced by a new one that is undiscovered until the release. And then Google will fix it, or the dev community will fix it and all will be well.

Verizon has not, and WILL NEVER release a flawless phone, and defending them for claiming that is the reason for the delays is just stupid.

So please be a lamb and point out where I claimed that VZW was waiting for some sort of flawlessness/perfection? Oh wait, I didn't so never mind. You can rant and rave all you want but the real world and the nerd world aren't the same.

Just lost LTE in Cleveland. And I mean really lost it, I can't get any data connection other than wifi.

SIGH.

I've been on LTE non stop all dang day in CLE, without any issues whatsoever, it has yet to stutter even once. Don't blame LTE for this one.

At least LTE came back on for me. That was a scary 2 hours. so what is the excuse in the delay again?

Yes, the iPhone had to be tested on all networks it was released on, but that's a given. There is obviously something not right with the optimization for the Galaxy Nexus when the OS is already pushed to 4.1. I just think that there may be a disconnect somewhere on the line whether it be Samsung and its hardware, Google and its OS or Verizon and its wireless service, there is something that isn't right. I'm not going to put all the blame on any of the three because we don't know why the phone isn't out yet. All we were given was a, "this will be out by the end of the year" statement and that is still the inly concrete thing we have to go on.

Once Google decides to take that step and finally start making their own phones, this long drawn out release won't happen if it's a flagship phone from them.

You live in the Nerd World, right, Satellite TV Box Tester?

Anyway... this phone is not delayed because of a software or hardware problem with the device. It may be delayed because of the LTE issue but with the news articles swirling around about the NFC disaster, it could be because of that.

If you don't sell the phone you don't have legal liability. Seems simple to me.

+1 I'm a happy camper right now.

My Verizon store just got them in and I played with it for about 10 minutes just now. Very nice and as for the little time I had with it everything I hoped and expected it to be. So frustrating! Just sell me the damn phone already!!!

Alot of ppl use the "OS designed for this hardware" excuse alot. If that's the case, does that mean this phone will be obsolete next year when Jelly bean launches since that won't be optimized for the GNex? I played with the gsm version and honestly it's smooth but not spectacular. iPhone is still smoother. It didn't do anything reasonably faster than any other phone ive owned. And i used it with both acceleration on and off. Don't expect any miracles people. Android still isn't quite there yet when it comes to OS smoothness.

If the Droid 4 Launches tomorrow, i might just go with that. Im getting sick of the wait. Im really not even excited about the Nexus at this point. The keyboard on the Droid 4 coupled with the competitive specs finally satisfy me enough to go Droid. I really just want to be done waiting and have a phone.
