Regarding Dec. 9 no longer being the unofficial date

Damnit.. I'm currently testing the iPhone 4s until the GNex comes out, but now I think I will fire up the old Blunderbolt and use that for a bit until the GNex releases... I have a bunch of $.10 apps I've been buying the last two days.. :) If it's not coming out in December I guess I'll buy a Rezound battery for it...

Is there word in the general press about the Droid 4...at all? Most people outside of Android communities don't even know it exists, and many of those who do are waiting for the Nexus. The Galaxy Nexus does at least have that going for it, and it's been covered in the press quite a bit by now.

Just playing Devil's advocate.

So ...

If this is delayed, again, off of 12/9 - and the reason this time is supposedly the recent LTE issues - this would certainly mean that the Droid 4 and new Xyboard tablets would be delayed too (they are LTE as well), right?

If they don't get delayed, then we can write off LTE as the reason I suppose ...

This is the angle I'm trying to dig at. Nexus is delayed, based on the forum-determined assumption that it is due to the LTE outage. Has anyone heard of this outage affecting any phone other than Motorola phones?

The only way you can legitimately say the delay is due to LTE is if Verizon pushes back all 4G releases until the issue is resolved. Releasing the Droid 4 (Motorola product that could, in theory, have the same issue) would contradict this house-of-cards case I have built.

Has anyone confirmed this outage affecting any phone other than the RAZR alone? I haven't seen reports of it even affecting other Motorola phones.

Well, the thinking on my end is you wouldn't want to introduce an entirely new OS version into the mix if your call centers are already flooded with RAZR SIM problems. But I guess we'll see if the D4 and dumb-name get released before the Nexus.

I think once they fix this, with all the stores getting stock, it wouldn't be so hard to just press go, and BLAMMO! It's on sale.

The testers probably found another software bug and decided that it would be smarter to fix it rather than knowingly release a phone (with no official release date) with issues. Very wise move IMO. Obviously the nerds will freak out but there is a reason Verizon is number one across the board,

Verizon is #1 because AT&T isn't exactly hard to beat, Sprint has slowly alienated its few loyal customers and T-Mobile is really just too small to compete. Essentially, all Verizon has to do to be #1 is not suck as bad as AT&T.

Admin, Super Mod, Mods, Adviser all different players in this forum. If you are gonna quote something I say and contradict me. At least know what you are talking about.
Semantics. It is clear, to me at least, that Phil is the straw that stirs the drink at AC. All the others are spectacular as well. I was just opining that maybe you and your buddy should chill. After all, I'm sure you are bright enough to recognize the irony of slightly bashing the OP of a thread in which your are actively participating. Especially when the OP happens to be a journalist who has sources and access to information the rest of us do not have. That is why we are here. Presumably, that is why you are here. I'm not sure if you or someone else is suggesting that Phil created this thread to somehow steal the limelight from a similar one; however, I can tell you that if I see similar thread content, one authored by Phil juxtaposed to one authored by what I consider to be a nobody, I will choose Phil's every time. Thank you for your concern and your deep understanding of the issues. I hope you have a wonderful day.

I did some quick scanning across the message board. I've read people with Bionics having the issue, and just recently have seen a couple people with HTC Rezounds losing 4G in a known-to-be-strong 4G area.

My earlier theory folds - this does seem to be a 4G issue not limited to Motorola devices, in which case the delay is probably a good idea. Maybe. I'd still be happy to have the phone on WiFi and 3G speeds, knowing that 4G will be working eventually.

I understand there may be a network problem but does that mean the verizon stores aren't selling any Razr/Rezounds/other 4g phones until it is fixed?

so, how long have you nerds been waiting for this phone. i'm new to android, so this is amazing to watch. it's as if it was announced 2 yrs ago or something. seriously, how long has this wait been going on?

lol.. like a month.

I just called a few stores in my area and asked if they are still selling 4g phones despite the problem with LTE. They all said yes and then I asked if they knew GN was delayed and they all said I could buy it on Dec 9th. Anecdotal I know but this specific delay is the strangest one.

I wouldn't be surprised if the whole phone gets canceled.

Ok, this got me thinking...I assume Verizon has some period of exclusivity. Is this going to delay the phone from dropping on other carriers? And even more disappointing , will it affect any launch of an unlocked version? Which will be sad, because that was the original point of the whole Nexus philosophy,,,right????

With all the delays I am worried that the relevance of this phone might be impacted with the upcoming launch of the Tegra 3 phones. The really disappointed. A delay of more than a month in the Android space is too too long :(
