Regarding Dec. 9 no longer being the unofficial date

Back to the original topic, I think if they miss this Friday, that seals it for me. I was very disappointed with the camera on the Nexus, but told myself it would still probably be better than the one on my OG Droid, even if it can't match ANY other top of the line phone out right now. Then I heard about the bloat, then Google Wallet... Neither are deal breakers for me, but combine all these issues with the release hijinks, and I am officially ready to hold out for CES and see what knocks my socks off...

All these problems and delays....gets me thinking, at what point does a company become embarrassed?

Hopefully things continue to move forward.

motorola and sony ericsson both came out today and told customers how they're handling their own release of ice cream sandwich...

seems like something a cell phone company would want to do right before the imminent release of said ice cream sandwich by a competitor.

I am a tester for a major Satellite TV provider and I can assure you that last minute bugs pop up all the time. Products releases and software updates get delayed literally hours before being shipped, pushed or sold. This is all part of the reason that VZW did not set a release date. People like to freak out in a fit of entitlement around here but there are people at VZW much smarter than anyone who posts here.

LOL! Getting CE updates from DBSTalk hardly qualifies you as a tester! Of course there are bugs with OS releases. But, it is not rocket science to test a phone, announce it, set a release date, and ship it! Is apple the only company that can do that? It is totally ridiculous and embarrassing for VZW. The nations top carrier with largest most advanced network and can't release a gd phone properly.

GSM, GSM, GSM if we all abandon this CDMA madness (albeit decent as it were) we will be free to roam Europe and Canada and not have these issues. And $49.99 a month unlimited is sounding better each day. My $300 Verizon bill is not that much fun anyway.

Here's what I heard...

My cat regularly poops in the bushes outside my local VZW store. He heard from another cat there, that knows the manager, that it was due to another OTA update that wouldn't be ready by Friday. So they have to hold it until the OTA update will be ready, and then sell it.

Now, my cat said that this other cat is feral, but he's never lied to him before.

Love it

Apple does all their stuff in house. This can't be said about the Galaxy Nexus. This is an operating system developed by a US company, then pushed to a South Korean based company to build hardware for it, then finally back to Verizon for testing on their network.

Apple also doesn't have to worry about the operating system working amongst 100+ different devices like Google does when they release a new update to Android. It's impressive what Apple does, but they build harware and software that revolve around each other. Android is an operating system that is getting pushed amongst hundreds of different devices.

(Thanks brinox, I was thinking Sony)

I went to the Verizon store at lunch time, which is normally the last place you should go to find out anything about a Verizon phone. For what its worth, the Manager confirmed that they were set to launch on Friday the 9th. He told me he just received the phone call minutes ago that it will not be launching on Friday. I asked him if he thought it would launch by Christmas and he said he had no idea. I believe him because he is the only helpful Verizon representative I have ever talked to. I think if this was going to be a short delay Verizon would have told him the rescheduled date. I fear we could be in for a wait....

last I checked, Samsung was based in South Korea... not trying to torpedo you or anything, but I just wanted to make sure credit was given where credit is due.

I'm not expecting it in 2011 anymore to be honest. I'm probably going to stop visiting the forums and just wait for something official.

or they could know that they cannot keep their mouths shut so they do not give them a date so they can be the first to announce it.

I'm beginning to believe that VZW is doing this in order for people to just get the RAZR or Rezound. With all these supposed leaks how come no one leaked what the hold up was?

I fear we could be in for a wait....

If the GNex has become a pawn in a spectrum violation legal war, all of our trusted info sources are going to be hard-pressed to learn *anything* and it *will* be a long wait.

Oh well, the first upgrade date on my family plan isn't until late Feb, 2012.

VZW was kind enuff to shorten my own date from 9/8 to 5/8...2013!
