[Review] Seidio Innocase Active Limited Edition

Seidio's really a company that listens to its users. After some negative feedback on its Innocase II Surface, they pumped out this beast.

Day 2 with this case and it's really growing on me. The strong odor of new rubber is gone and I noticed that Im loving the indented groove where the volume down button is - makes it really easy to change the level. Only downside is pressing the power button down easily but thats not a deal breaker by any means.

If you are looking for a case for the evo, you'd be a fool not to get this one.

I just got my Seidio case as well. I love it. I have always purchased Seidio products for all of my phones and this one feels and looks the best. I have no regrets so far. It feels nice and has the perfect amount of protection I need. Now if the just produce a holster for it I would be much happier.

yes, we are working on the holster for Innocase active. It is about 2 weeks away.

...And for those not worried about setting it down and losing it, why not camo? :D

The cool digital camo pattern the Marines are wearing in the desert. That would look sweet with the black rubber.

If only solid colors, then gray would offer a nice subtle contrast.

I'm using a Nexus One so I'm a little off thread, but since they also make cases for the N1 but I just wanted to say "Wonderful review!", 10 stars for that.
You said the company wants to hear our suggestions, so here's a couple.

My big focus for wanting a case in the first place is the inadequacy of the OEM shell to meet my desires. (the design for the greatest common denominator effect)
What are those inadequacies?

1) Sliding off smooth surfaces.
2) Insufficient protection of critical UI surface areas and delicate internal components.
3) Complete disregard for ergonomics.
4) Zero protection from sun light focused on CCD of camera. stupid stupid stupid!!! You will learn this lesson once and never forget it as every photo you take with it will have that burn spot.

This case at least attempts to address [most of] these issues well and that pleases me.
I draw some concern that games and other apps that like to use the very edges of the touch screens would be hindered in playability by the size and proximity of the edges of the case. Make no mistake I LOVE the raised edge keeping one's grasping hand OFF the touchscreen. (no inadvertent dual-touch)
So guess I'm pretty much sold on the case without the exo-skel(to reduce the sliding) if I hear good things about game playability. Or maybe start writing apps that actively utilize the screen bumper like the edges of a pool table. :-)

im not sure i like this case. i like the extra protection and dont mind the bulk but i'm having issues getting the phone to charge while usb tethering. i have a feeling it's because of the increased temperatures that this case causes.

i think the phone got up to about 120F today. bleh

not sure still if im gonna stick with this or switch to the surface.

Got my case today too. I like everything about it, but it sure makes pushing the power button hard.

i taped a small bit of paper on top of the powerbutton then put the case on. The power button is now super easy to press. I did the same for the volume up button.

What kind of paper? Anything specific?

Oh crap not this!!

I returned my Innocase today and ordered this active.

I started a thread where I had to put tape in the Innocase to make it snug, but that didn't last. I'm gonna be pissed if I have to tape something else on a Seidio case to make it work as it should. My patience with this company will start to wear really thin.

No you do not need to add any tape in order for this case to "work". Pressing down the power button takes a bit of getting used, thats all.

glad to hear the rubber smell eventually goes away! not a deal breaker but it's somewhat strong at first! it's worth it because the quality and the design is second to none!

haha well it's more of an issue of longer life + looser fit or shorter life + tight fit. Maybe you can let us know why you want such a tight case? Is it to keep dust out or because you're afraid the phone might slip out.

Good question.......I've no idea why I want a tight fitting case. hahahahaha, i just don't like the loose fit!

I do hate skinny jeans though that's for sure!!

Day 3 with this case and still loving it. I've returned my other 2 cases.

Now Im craving a different colored exoskeleton. Red or Blue. Maybe even different colored case all together. Whats the latest on the colors Mr. Seidio?
