[ROM][ACS]SyndicateROM Frozen 1.2 (Updated 6/20)

You can wait and see if the dev (k0nane) of Syndicate has some other suggestion for you. He usually checks in on this thread at least once a day sometimes more.

Hope he comes on soon.. Id love to use this just really need a way to see my sites running their ads..

Not sure if this will be of any use to you, but I know there is a way to allow certain ads in apps...there was a workaround going around for a while to allow ads for Words with Friends here: AdFree and Words with friends - Android Forums

Not sure if anything there will help you out, but figured it's worth bringing up

Sounds similar to what was happening to Paul. To fix, enable journaling by wiping and reflashing ROM, make a nandroid backup and immediately restore that backup.

Just wiped, re-flashed, and backup/restored the phone. Keeping my fingers crossed that everything works OK. Thanks to the folks who put this package together!

I know I'm a little late on this but I finally got this to work on my phone after several attempts over the past few days and even added the Emotionless Beast theme on it = looks nice and runs well

So i FINALLY got this running.. and running well (apparently it was my .mms and other non-ciq-removed apks... THANK YOU to k0nane, Paul, and Rag for the tips!!!! i themed the ones from ACS and its running great!!)

just one question... and I figured the guys from ACS would be great to ask seeing as how they are amazing themers...

WHICH pngs control the appearance of the circled images below?? I want to edit the volume popup and the "send" button and the background around the message bar in the text message window, but cannot figure which pngs to edit. i've looked and looked through the images but there are hundreds and i cant figure it out.. and i know ppl over at ACS have edited them for some of your themes.

**EDIT** So i figured out which images do the buttons (didnt work exactally like i wanted... now ALLLL my buttons are green, but w/e its still cool looking). Now i just need the volume popup background... and the background around the message bar. any tips!!??

Alright, I don't know what is wrong with this ROM.. But after actually using my phone during the day all I get is 5-6 hours off a full charge.

People were talking about 25 hours off a full charge, c'mon.. I guess they were lying.

I think it depends on the phone, the battery and the usage.

I noticed a 1/3 improvement in battery life: moderate use from 12+ hours to 16+ hours. That's with JuiceDefender and running underclocked at 1000/100 with SetCPU. If I bump that to 1400/100 and play games, use it as an MP3 player or run it off 4G for a while, then 6 hours is what I get as well.

I've noticed with SRF/Vision that dropping from 100 to 90 happens pretty quickly; the rest of the drain appears to occur more slowly. Maybe it's that way with the battery under all circumstances; I've just paid more attention to it lately.

BTW: whoever ported the Matted Blues theme to Epic -- Nice!

Under normal usage you should be getting at least 12+ hrs from this package.

You need to be running either 3g/wi fi. 4g connection=Heavy battery drain.
Kernel set to run at the 100-1000 mhz undervolt. Overclocking=more battery usage.
I normally also keep my display settings at manual brightness control running about 10% to minimize display power usage.

If your running 4g and doing things that require a lot of heavy processor usage then there I no ROM/kernel package that is going to give you any extradorinary battery life. You may also want to try a battery recalibration after flashing the ROM.

I've been doing that. Even calibrated the battery 4 times. I know I can't get ridiculous amount of battery life, but 5-6 hours is not good enough for me. I flashed the ROM successfully, and I did not over clock anything. My setup is just like yours. I don't know what the problem is?

Assuming that the 5-6 hours isn't a glitch; I had one day glitch where I got way less than normal on the ROM. If you would, please provide usage details for a full day/charge use (from battery use info and any other use you can recall) such as: display % use and time on; time without signal; total call duration and % and anything else that has a high percentage/use. If you have android assistant you can get usage percents for apps or simply keep track of how much time you use apps like games, steaming audio and or video, and other data nad or CPU intensive apps. Please also indicate the total time the charge lasted and the battery percent left before plugging in to fully charge so that the relative percents will make sense. Be sure not to top off during the day or it will reset the battery use data losing any data prior to connecting to a PC USB or power outlet. With this info we can try and find things that are eating the battery up.

I can easily go 24 hours with light use (1-2 hrs screen time, max brightness). With heavier use I rarely get less than 16, 12 at the minimum.

It's entirely possible it could be your battery... if you've tried calibrating and everything else. Not all batteries are created equal.

try battery calibration app free from the market...just follow the direction on the app...i've been running this rom since it came out and everything is great (knock on wood) :D...before i installed the battery calibration app i was getting 12-14 hrs of battery life runing with moderate usage, at 1ghz...after installing the app im getting min 16-20 hrs depending on usage (some apps drain more battery than others...i think) with about 15-20% battery life left..hope it helps...

edit: im using stock battery btw...

I would like to comment about a couple issues I had with SFR that in the end were relatively frustrating. First off, on a clean install, the browser just wouldn't work. Tried running Vision Kernal and that didn't help (though admittedly, now that I looked back, I never tried the Twilight 1.04. (also tried the usual wipe cache/dalvix 3x, fix permissions) Running one of the Baked Snack Kernals did clear up the issues, though. The second issue I ran into was just a general slowdown of the phone after a couple weeks. Things like opening the browser, dialer, or apps would just hang for a second. I'm not sure if this is related to the ROM, kernal, or launcher, though, so I'm not willing to blame this on SFR.

Overall, though, I'm looking forward to trying out the next version when it comes out.

4G issues

Anyone having 4G connection issues with this ROM? Everything seems to work great except I can not connect to 4G. When I turn on 4G, it says "Connecting" and then after a few seconds it says "Disconnected", then tries to reconnect. I have tried re-flashing, using odin to start at stock EC05, once click root with 3.0.0.6, wipe data, cache, dalvik, all 3 times, and then installing Syndicate 1.1. Once installed I have tried turning on 4G on the first boot, before doing anything else such as installing anything else or changing any settings, with no luck. Any thoughts / ideas on how I can get 4G working?

Thanks

@ whoever was complaining about the battery life.... Are you using any apks from other roms/themes that arent CIQ-removed compatible? i was using an old dialertabactivity.apk from TER1.5 that i themed. HORRID batt life. couldnt make things run right. If you are using SRF you have to make sure your themes are CIQ-removed friendly (market apps are OK. no problems there. its the stock apps that come with android that need to be correct).

I went from having like you are, 5-6hrs batt life from full charge.. to now- my phone was unplugged yesterday at noonish. I took it to work, used it at work, on breaks, at home, made calls/internet/txts, and i'm STILL at 33%.. over 24 hours later.

make sure your themes are compatible.

I've noticed that I cannot seem to get reliable 4G service as well but thought it was where I was when trying it...

After enabling journaling, the FCs have completely stopped. Unfortunately, the phone still locks up about once a day and I have to do a battery pull. It is usually when using the internet. I even tried different browsers, but to no avail.

This past weekend our data center went down and I used my Epic as the main form of communication. Using this ROM I was able to stay on for a continuous 8 hour phone conf bridge. I did not recharge it once.

I disabled Wifi, had roaming on and was using a Bluetooth headset.

I love the default background that comes with this ROM. The problem is that I was playing around with backgrounds and now cannot get back to the default one. Anyone know how?

You would have to reflash the ROM or pull it out of the ROM yourself and place it on your sdcard to use...

If you know how to use WinRAR or 7zip then just look in the following directory of the Syndicate ROM zip.

/system/framework/framework-res.apk/res/drawable-hdpi/default_wallpaper.jpg

Take that from the ROM zip and place it on your sdcard...
