Re: [ROM][WIP] CM7 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 10-10-2011

OK. I figured it out! Thanks everyone!

Re: [ROM][WIP] CM7 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 10-10-2011

Ok,let me start by saying I had the kraven's cm7 and thought I would try vh. Well, long story short I'm ready to revert back to zvd and the kraven's cm7. I know how to do it, I just have one question. While I've been on opti-rom I formated my sdcard for app2sd and all my apps are on the ext partition. I know that your rom supports ext. My question is: can I leave all my apps on my ext ,revert back to zvd, flash kraven's rom, flash app2sd and that all? Any help? BTW great work with your rom. Thanks in advance.

Does this ROM support Bluetooth HID? I am trying to find a way to attach a Bluetooth Keyboard to my Optimums S and have had ZERO success to date.

When you wipe from recovery it will format the sd-ext partition. Be sure to backup the apps using Titanium Backup and after you have apps2sd setup on cm7 then restore them. I would like to note that some people have experienced unexplained issues (force closes, apps not working the way they should) when going from one ROM to another using Titanium Backup. This is the best way known to me and the other way would be to redownload from the market once you have cm7 up and running! :D

I had 10.1 installed and am also impressed with the new version! Alot smoother and the fps seemed a little slow but what can you expect! flash video on our phones SWEET!:)

I just formattedmy SD card to ext4 data2sd and now my gps will never turn off nor will the wireless networks box right above it. Ill unchecked both of them and then ill come back to the screen and they will still be enabled. This was my first time doing ext4 so I can only assume something went wrong. But the phone does respond much better. Any help would be great.
Thanks

Data2ext has no effect on those. Only thing it does is trick your phone into using sd card as internal storage.

Always happy to help, Hit that thanks button if I did

Re: [ROM][WIP] CM7 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 10-10-2011

Anyone successfully get the GPS working using this rom? I've tried with the following kernels:

-[Kernel][CM7] XioniaRedux 2.6.32.33-ck2 08312011
-IHO-kernelv3.1-sprint

Using both, my GPS app (google maps) stays on 'Searching for GPS'.

Another tip I read said to install 'GPS Status' from the market and go to 'tools', 'manage a-gps state', and then hit 'reset'. Then go back and hit 'download'.

Despite doing that, the GPS Status program never finds a GPS and google maps still doesn't work.

While searching for a solution someone mentioned that it was necessary to enable the google location service when first setting up the phone. The user said that he did not know how to enable google location services if you don't enable when first setting up the phone.

Thanks for any tips.

Edit:

This site lists how to enable google location services:

But when I follow the steps, I do not get the option under the privacy setting.

I've had settings like that "stick" before with this ROM and could only cure it with a reboot.

Are you using the latest 10/10 release?
I have no issues but I am on an Optimus V, I did a bunch of changes, keylayout, gps.conf, maybe you should try my gps.conf, mine works fine, I added some things, everything works for me, I toggle gps/data off when not using, everything is fine.
let me know if you would like to try my gps.conf but your issue sounds more like an error, normally editing the file only helps it work faster, did u do a complete wipe before install and did u test that with the roms original kernel. if it works then u change kernels then it's something in the kernel

Re: [ROM][WIP] CM7 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 10-10-2011

Just trouble shooting, How did you install the rom? Did you do all the data wipes, like all four of them? Another thing could be restoring google maps data settings with titanium backup. You could try and clear data in settings >application >manage application > under the all tab, find maps and clear it. Reboot to recovery and wipe cache, then reboot.

Also try gpstest from the market, it shows you the satellites and distance accuracy.

Another kernel to try is drew's ginger kernel 6.2. But make sure cyanogenmod screen off and on animation is turned off before flashing. Otherwise the screen won't wake from idle. The camera won't work, bbut you can give gps a try.

I booted into my recovery and I did the following options:

-wipe /data
-wipe /cache
-wipe Dalvik-cache

There is also a factory reset, sd-ext, battery stats, .android_secure and rotate settings. I wasn't sure whether to wipe those or not. The guide mentions under mounts but I have no idea what those are.

I would be interested in trying your gps.conf.

EDIT: I saw the recommended custom recovery in the opening post. Going to install that, follow the steps precisely, and then see if it works.

EDIT2: I put the recommended custom recovery on my device and followed the steps accordingly. I still have the exact same problem. I noticed my GPS is on by default, not sure if that's normal. I'm wondering if my GPS isn't just broken.

I might install another rom and see if GPS works. Make a backup of cm7 of course.

Been running the 10-10 version a second time for the past 24 hours, the first time I just upgraded from older version wiping cache and dalvic and also using debug format zip. I kept getting force closures on core apps! And was laggy here and there. I love this rom so I decided to do a full wipe and start from scratch! And I'm glad I did:) blazing fast, quadrant scores 1150-1200, and very stable now! Just wanted to inform everyone sometimes a full wipe is needed for the best results and to recommend this rom to anybody who is interested!!!

I full wipe everytime I update the kravens roms and I've never experienced any issues with his roms.

New kernel from BobZhome to try. Currently testing.

* Interactive governor readded, I believe it is more responsive from idle than InteractiveX. So it may help with audio streamers, but sacrifice a little in battery life.

* Headset button fixes built in.

Flash in recovery. IHO-BobZhome-kernelv3.2-sprint.zip

You should know if your debug zip formats all partitions or just system. check it.
I install by doing wipe/cache&dlavik
then I goto mounts and format boot/system/data/cache.
