[ROM] CM7.2 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 3/9 zvd only

Re: [ROM] CM7.2 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 1/16/2012 zvd onl

I just flashed Kraven's ROM 3 days ago, (latest 1-16-2012 release), and everything seems to be good except for the bluetooth, wife has a Plantronics bluetooth that was working before, with the stock Optimus S ROM, but the phone won't recognize the bluetooh device now.

I haven't install any patches whatsoever, just the full R01/16/2012 ROM, so is there any patch available to fix the bluetooth ?

Did a dirty flash from 1/10 to 1/16, cleared cache and dalvik cache, lost all my contacts, widgets stopped working, google accounts stopped working (so can't re-sync my contacts). This is the second time this has happened after doing a dirty flash. Why is this happening??

Oh, I did not realize I had to flash gapps again when doing a dirty flash. I'll try that now. Thanks for the quick response

Ok, so my phone will not let me change the notification ringtone. It will let me change my email ringtone, call ringtone, and assign individual ringtones, but every time i get a text message it plays the wrong ringtone. I go to settings, sound, notification ringtone, i select doink. I exit, i got back to settings, sound, notification ringtone and sure enough, doink is selected. But every time i get a text, it plays the default ringtone (not doink). I have tried restarting my phone, doing a full wipe and reinstall, and downloading a fresh zip and installing that one. Still no luck. Also, my main dock that i have set to display 5 icons keeps on disappearing. I do not know where it goes, but I have to restart the phone to get it to reappear again. It is really annoying to want to make a call and then have to restart my phone because my main dock is gone.

I do not use a third party messaging app, and running my fingers across ADW main dock does nothing.

I discovered quite by accident that a swipe gesture across the dock toggles it off and on. I then started playing with it. What I discovered is that I could not reliably toggle it off and on (probably user error). I was able to turn it back on by creating a shortcut on the home screen. Long pressing on the home screen brings up that option>Choose 'Launcher Actions'>Open/Close Dockbar. That will reliably toggle it off and on.

Like thekraven mentioned, there is a setting that you can set in ADW Launcher to specify a particular gesture to do this. After this exercise in creating a shortcut for a launcher action, I set mine to use a double tap to the screen to toggle it, but the shortcut will also do it. I did not see another setting in ADW Launcher to modify the swipe across the dock gesture.

Checked the bluetooh device tonight, wife didn't know the bluetooth device had to be set into pairing mode before the phone can recognize it. it's all good now.

Installed this ROM tonight and loving it so far. This is the first custom ROM, and so far it's a very welcome change.

I still have a question, this is the version i installed on her phone
•1-16-2012 new build 1.16.2012d-cm7.2-IHO-Kraven-signed.zip

and this is the gapps version i installed
•4 Latest Google Market 3.3.12 and google apps with VVM and AOSP MMS included in the flash. This should save a step if wanting Visual Voice mail. gapps-20111119-with VVM fix.zip

Since this is the last full release, is there anything else that i should've installed, i see there is a newer gapps, or things like the Bravia.Tweaks.zip, or sprintdialercode.zip, was i supposed to install those ? or do they come in the actual ROM release file ?

Thanks again for a wonderful work.

The only other thing to flash is the 1/16 bravia zip. Supposed to make viewing pictures and videos better, but I can't tell.

Check to see if your market auto updates to 3.4.4.

What is going on, what are you / the phone doing at reboot?

I use the WiFi tether built into the phone, Settings - Wireless & networks - Tethering & portable hotspot - Portable WiFi hotspot checked and setting below it.

I was WiFi tethering the phone then it would just reboot on me. it hasn't done it to me for a few hours now. I just powered down the phone and turned it back on seems to be ok after that.

I have seen this phone model reboot itself while the WiFi hotspot feature is enabled on the 2011-11-07 build. When it happened, the phone was in a poor to medium signal strength area. The problem may also be heat related. The phone may have also been charging a low battery at the same time.

(Actually, signal strength and heat are also related to each other, as the phone must transmit at higher power levels when the signal strength is low (because the tower is far away). Higher transmission power => more heat => lower battery life.)

Reboots can also be related to kernel crashes...which the phone recovers automatically from via a reboot so as to not leave your phone unable to receive calls. A hardware watchdog mechanism may play a role. By default, Windows does something similar upon a system panic/BSOD rather than remain stuck at the error message.

i noticed that the voicemail wasnt included as well.....i do prefer the stock voicemail better than google voice..(nothing personal).. any way to get that back without going thru a full re-flash ?

Anyone have any tips for this?

Didn't realize until now that I have no voicemail.

Questions (b/c this is such an epic thread):

1) How much internal memory does the 'full' version leave us with? How about the 'barebones'?

2) What are the main advantages of this ROM over stock 2.2?

3) I'm currently using Reborn ROM and LauncherPro. Will this be significantly different?

Thanks! (and sorry for the newb questions)

1. 160 MB on the 'full' version I'm not sure about the barebones but I think it would be the same.
2. You could say there are advantages over stock 2.2 like CM7's interface and benefits it offers such as customizing your own gestures to open certain programs or even making the status bar transparent. CM7 is just a great way to improve productivity over all other ROM's out there in my opinion. It is just so much more advanced I can't go back to anything else.
3. If you download LauncherPro and don't customize it at all it will be almost the same. I do recommend that you take advantages of CM7's overall greatness though. You should go to their site and see all the features. It's amazing really what thekraven could do to port us this ROM. Thanks thekraven!:)

My voice dialer button isn't working. The voice dialer app is installed and the keymap looks OK as far as I can tell. Anybody else seeing this problem?

Re: [ROM] CM7.2 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 1/16/2012 zvd onl

Everything looks good, except the Market won't download anything. I get the error " *** could not be downloaded due to an error (-101)"

I installed just as suggested in the first post: Wiped all user data, even dalvik cache, flashed full version of CM7, then Google Apps, then rebooted. I even rebooted again after synching my Google account, but no dice with the market.

Any thoughts? Flash the old Market?

EDIT: During setup, CM7 asks if you want to disable the Market until you have Wifi. I chose yes.

Just now I reflashed everything, using the Barebones version this time, and told Market I did NOT want to disable it, and everything is downloading fine.

There may be a problem with that "disable Market during setup" feature.

Does this ROM work on the Republic Wireless version of this phone?

Re: [ROM] CM7.2 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 1/16/2012 zvd onl

what is your baseband on republic?
Does it come pre rooted and with a custom recovery?

They may have specific tweaks to make call with wifi as the preference in their roms. Nobody really knows what makes it tick, a system dump would be good.
And you would need to backup those files in titanium backup and restore them.

If you decide to give it a try, nandroid backup your current setup before doing anything.
