Gave that a shot, it's still showing up....

As Kraven said, it's a build.prop edit. Look for the line that says "ro.build.type=eng" and change that to "ro.build.type=user".

That should take care of the red box. Strangely enough, when I did this, then rebooted, when it came back up there was a popup saying "Android is Updating" or something liket that, and gave a progress of x out of x applications. Don't know what that was all about, but it seems to work fine now.

Might as well leave my cm9-specific comments here:

- Obviously, we know 3g is a bit wonky. I can get it by either toggling airplane mode or turning wifi on then off. Most of the time it seems to go in and out, actually...
- Camera crashes. Duh.
- Space is limited. Double duh.
- "Roaming indicator off" instead of "Sprint". Small tweak.
- I can't get the status bar tweaks to actually do anything. AM/PM indicator works, but can't change battery to percentage, or signal to text (dBm).

That's about all I can think of right now. Any other broken features I haven't noticed yet because I don't use them. I'm going to look for a way to get data2ext working with this, which may actually be more complicated than I think it will be. Only one way to find out!

Edit: Just wanted to add that I tested out the navigation right now to check GPS and I'm in love with the voice, haha.. so much more refined than in GB!

Two bugs so far. MMS is a no go no matter what I try. Also, my gallery is dead. Force closes but that happened after I fixed permissions. Very great ROM however I can't believe it. Once this is stabilized a lil, WOW!

Freaking awesome ics! Really!!! Testing for an hour or so and love it!so far data is a bit off but works like others said music sounds great and works great as well as gps and I can make and receive calls and sms works fine. Just a few things I've noticed

Perhaps another thread for your CM9 build is in order, even if you aren't yet publicly posting a link. It's getting a little confusing here as to which ROM folks are referring (e.g. aaronw's post, #1978).

[CM9 ZVD] Data is not working for me at all. At first, 3G/1X does not show up on the signal indicator. After turning off radio and then turning it back on, 3G/1X is shown but i still cannot connect to sites. Also I am still getting the Red Square after turning off whatever it was in dev tools.

As stated before, red box is a build.prop edit to fix. Look for the line that says "ro.build.type=eng" and change that to "ro.build.type=user".

Data is wonky right now. No way around that. Dial *#*#4636#*#* then phone info then scroll down to change to CDMA auto (PRL) if it's not already selected. Then turn radio off and back on, and that should fix it. You might also need to toggle airplane mode and mobile data to get it going.

My radio was set to that, and i tried turning off/on before. Now it works for some reason, though. ah well.

In attempting to pull build.prop, then edit, then push back to /system/, i discovered something strange. when I enter adb shell, adb loses connection with the phone. when I type "adb devices", nothing shows. when I exit adb shell and type adb devices, the phone shows up. So how am I supposed to push to /system/ if I can't get to superuser (because adb shell is being lame)?

EDIT: Tried terminal emulator as well, same problem: Device not found. Ah well, I just told ES file explorer to get root rights and mount the system partition as writable, then I just edited the file from there.....so i guess we're good.

Do this:

adb remount rw
adb pull /system/build.prop
*edit the file*
adb push build.prop /system/build.prop
adb remount ro

I downloaded Astro File Manager, navigated to the file (keep going back and go into system), long-press build.prop and "open as text"....I edited a part at the bottom changing "Virgin Mobile" to Sprint and it made my internet work better...not perfectly stable but it's working for the most part now (I experienced exactly what you are). No need to pull it and all that stuff, you can just do it right on your phone.

Install

• Make sure you are on ZVD radio
• Boot into recovery and nandroid your setup as this is alpha and may not be a daily driver for most.
• Now wipe Data, BOOT, SYSTEM, CACHE from recovery.
• Flash the rom zip, flash gapps for ICS, then reboot.
• First boot will be long.
• Download the usbmass storage app from above and install.

good call, it was late and I surely didn't specify. MASS CONFUSION! Lol really though the build.prop edit worked for the most part, and my 3g data was steady and fast as usual. Thanks for taking this phone to ICS land!

Ive flashed the 2-17 build 3 times now, with both versions of the gapps listed. I get no market. data works though. anyone else having this issue?

Yeah, no market here. Odd. I grabbed a copy of the apk online though and it works fine now. Now I'm just still trying to get the damn home key to work lol

Edit: Just kidding, market crashes when I try to download something..

where did you get the apk from the internet?

i have the generic.kl and the thunderc keylayout from the original alpha. im gonna push them to the right place and see if that fixes the home key.

something we take for granted, but no home key is ANNOYING haha

Tried several versions off 4shared.com to no avail. I had working buttons and market in Kraven's original testing version. I might go back to that one just to prove to myself it can be made to work. Either that or nand restore back to GB for a bit..

Or just start tweaking on your own in attempt to fix things I would be doing that, but I'm cramming for an exam right now..
